WE WERE USUALLY GONE FIVE OR SIX MONTHS

ON OUR WAY TO GODERICH THIS MORNING FOR A FEW GROCERIES, WE STOPPED HERE AT THE MAITLAND MARKET
I didn't see any evidence of a frost overnight, so it may not have happened, and that is quite okay with me.  The longer the miseries of winter's approach stay away, the better.  In our RVing years, at this point in October we would only be a week and a half away from heading off to beloved Southwest, and I would be sooooooooo looking forward to that every year at this time.  We were usually gone for five or six months.  We never considered it a vacation; we thought of it as a welcome semi-annual lifestyle change.  First, heading off to what we considered our second home in the Great American Southwest in the Fall and then heading back to our Bayfield home in the Spring. But, once again, I have to give my head a shake and accept the fact that was then, and this is now.  I think we all suffer a little bit from that 'then and now' thing...........

GROANER'S CORNER:(( An attorney telephoned the governor just after midnight, insisting that he talk to him regarding a matter of utmost urgency. An aide eventually agreed to wake up the governor. 'So, what is it?' grumbled the governor. 'Judge Garber has just died' said the attorney, 'and I want to take his place.' The governor replied: 'Well, it's OK with me if it's OK with the undertaker.'

One day a man spotted a lamp by the roadside. He picked it up, rubbed it vigorously, and a genie appeared.
"I'll grant you your fondest wish," the genie said. The man thought for a moment, then said, "I want a spectacular job, a job that no man has ever succeeded at or has ever even dared try." "Poof!" said the genie. "You're a housewife."

  1. Al, you don't need to give up on the Southwest! Get yourself a class C motorhome and take off!! Come on Buddy you can do it!!! No more dreading the long winter. No more depressed days! Live your dreams, be warm and enjoy 3 months of your favorite destination. Stop putting yourself in a prison with freezing weather when you can be out enjoying your dreams. Go for it!!!!!

  2. The Maitland Market display is stunning! Well done, folks.
Yes, I can well imagine how you're feeling at this time of year, Al. It was part of your life for so many years...to look forward to the American Southwest for 6 months... I'd be the same as you...wishing it still could be. Glad your weather is still nice; ours too.
