IT WAS NEARLY MIDNIGHT BEFORE WE MADE IT HOME AGAIN

Stepping out the door earlier this morning, I almost evaporated.  It was already 78°F.  Not hot for Florida, or the Sahara Desert, but plenty hot for me here in Ontario, Canada.  We reached 90F today and that came with humidity too:((

HERE'S WOODSY PICKING UP A FEW INTERESTING STONES ON AN EVENING WALK A FEW NIGHTS AGO
Saturday night, Lorraine and I slipped out for ice cream at the Woodland Drive-In, and I figure if we don't soon curb these ice cream nights, I am going to have to trade the Subaru in for a heavy-duty pickup truck to transport all the extra weight we may be incurring!!

A SATURDAY NIGHT WALK OUT ALONG BAYFIELD'S SOUTH PIER
LOTS OF FOLKS OUT ENJOYING THE WATERS OF LAKE HURON ON A WARM SATURDAY SUMMER'S EVENING

 BOYS JUMPING OFF THE PIER
OH TO RETURN TO THIS WORLD OF MARVELOUS WONDERS AND EXCITEMENT EVEN IF IT WERE FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES
A COUPLE OF GALS OUT ENJOYING AN EVENING PADDLE ON THE LAKE
What a lovely, warm summer night it was, so we decided to take a walk out to the end of Bayfield's south pier and watch the sun go down.  Lots of folks out there doing the same, and a bunch of young boys jumping off the pier into the sparkling waters of Lake Huron.  Everybody had a chuckle when one of the young boys climbed up out of the water, saying, 'I stepped on a fish'.  From our walk out on the pier, it was a leisurely cruise around Bayfield, and then it was off for home we went.

HEADING OUT FOR A SHORT BOAT RIDE
I THINK THIS OLDER FELLA HAS ENJOYED MANY A BOAT RIDE OVER THE YEARS
HEADING BACK IN....THANKS MOM AND DAD, FOR TAKING ME FOR BOAT RIDE

THE SUN IS SETTING ON ANOTHER FINE SUMMER'S DAY
 A LONE SAILBOAT HEADS IN
THE SAILBOAT SLOWLY CRUISED UP THE BAYFIELD RIVER TO ITS BERTH
But, the day wasn't quite over yet.  With a three-quarter Moon overhead, we later hopped into the Subaru and headed out into the countryside to my stargazing spot.  What a beautiful night with a warm summer breeze in the air.  Fireflies were doing their best to light up the night, but we were still able to pick out a few stars and constellations.  It was nearly midnight before we made it home again.
YES, I'M THE TALL SHADOW ON THE RIGHT, AND BY GOLLY, THERE'S WOODSY HOPING I DIDN'T INCLUDE HER IN THE PHOTO:))

I guess you could call today an old-fashioned relaxing Sunday.  Remember years ago when most everybody stayed home on Sundays and did about the square root of nothing.  Stores were closed, and there were no trucks on the roads unless refrigerated.  Today, with temps over 90°F, it just seemed to make more sense to stay inside.

THE BAND WAS SO LOUD HERE ON BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET SATURDAY NIGHT THAT WE COULD HEAR IT BACK AT OUR PLACE TWO MILES AWAY

AN IPHONE SELFIE ON THE PIER SATURDAY NIGHT
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Sam consistently caught more fish than anyone else. Whereas the other guys would only catch three or four a day, Sam would come in off the lake with a boat full. Stringer after stringer was always packed with fresh trout. The warden, curious, asked Sam his secret. The successful fisherman invited the game warden to accompany him and observe.  So the next morning the two met at the dock and took off in Sam's boat. When they got to the middle of the lake, they stopped the boat and the warden sat back to see how it was done. Sam's approach was simple. He took out a stick of dynamite, lit it, and threw it in the air. The explosion rocked the lake with such a force that dead fish immediately began to surface. Sam took out a net and started scooping them up. Well, you can imagine the reaction of the game warden. When he recovered from the shock of it all, he began yelling at Sam. "You can't do this! I'll put you in jail, buddy! You will be paying every fine there is in the book!"  Sam, meanwhile, set his net down and took out another stick of dynamite. He lit it and threw it in the lap of the game warden with these words, "Are you going to sit there all day complaining or are you going to fish?"

Teacher: Why are you late for school?
Student: Because of a sign down the road.
Teacher: What does the sign have to do with you being late?
Student: The sign said, “School Ahead, Go Slow!”

- Why did the math book look sad?
Because it had too many problems.

Teacher: What is the most common phrase used in school?
Student: I don’t know!
Teacher: Correct!

Teacher: We will only have a half-day of school this morning…
Students: Yay!!!!
Teacher: Then we will have the other half this afternoon.

A plane is flying over the Mediterranean.
A pilot's voice comes on and says a terrible thing has happened.  We’ve lost both engines and we’re gonna have to land in the Mediterranean.  The plane will stay afloat for a very short time.  And we’ll be able to open the door just long enough that everyone can get out.  We have to do this in an orderly fashion.  Everyone that can swim just go to the right wing and stand there.
Everyone who can’t swim just go to the left wing and just stand there.  Those of you on the right wing you’ll find a little island it’s in the direction of the Sun about two miles off, and as the plane goes under just swim in an orderly fashion out and you’ll be fine.
And for those of you on the left wing…I want to thank you for flying Air Italia.

  2. Love all your photos EVERY DAY! Wonderful. And HI to Woodsy! So nice to see kids jumping into the water off the pier...and "stepped on a fish" is hilarious. Kids know how to have fun. Lovely seeing everyone out and about in the warm weather. Hope Aunt Jean's doing well...that's a spectacular looking cherry pie she served her brother! Oh, and Pheebs kissing Kelly, how sweet that pic. Almost fell off my chair laughing at the patio umbrellas joke.

  9. How wonderful to live near the water during these hot days - I'm very envious! The kids jumping and exploring are delightful. Beautiful golden water and that sailboat is stunning. Your selfie is great!! Fun to remember Uncle Harry. That pic of Pheebs at the water and mountain is perfect. Great to see you out and about and sharing ice cream.
