| AUTUMN IS ALWAYS A BEAUTIFUL TIME IN OUR PARK |
With Woodsy feeling much better, it was my turn, and my Tuesday kind of took a nosedive. Energy, both mental and physical, unexpectedly drained away, leaving me in a kind of Zombieesque like state. Unlike most of my days, when I find it difficult to believe my age, there are times when I feel my full 81 years and beyond. Wednesday, I was back to comfortable again, feeling somewhere in my probable forties. Okay, okay, so I had a few flashups to my early nineties, but they only lasted a few seconds. I think it all happened when I was trying to move a rather challenging three and a half pound rock in our front yard. By the way, I did get all the Frogasauresus out of the front yard pond, and I'm sure they are now blissfully hibernating in the soft oozy mud at the bottom of our Park's pond.
My country road drive on Wednesday morning, looking for corn spills or dropped corn cobs, turned out to be fruitless. Despite most of the corn fields looking dry and colorless, the farmers are not yet back out on their land harvesting corn. Maybe the ground is still too wet. More rain is headed our way on Thursday and Friday. Home again under sunny skies, and feeling a bit energized, I soon had my shovel in the ground digging up more ferns around the yard that needed relocating. I like ferns, but if they are not kept in check, they spread everywhere. I'm surprised we haven't had any coming up through our living room floor. It's a lucky thing that we have a full cement pad under our unit. I also moved a pile of rocks from where I had them stashed behind the carport to a spot alongside the east end of our front yard frog pond. And, I do mean 'a lot of rocks'. No doubt I overdid myself, but hey, it was a nice sunny 50°F day and I didn't want to waste it by sitting inside.

Woodsy picked up our good neighbor, Monica, early Wednesday afternoon and took her to 'The Brick' in Goderich to have a look at a new mattress. Wednesday evening, we took a drive into Bayfield and missed the sunset by about ten minutes. Followed that with a slow drive around town, and were lucky enough to see workmen testing out the Christmas lighting in Clan Gregor Square that has been put up probably in the last few days. So pretty.
I had intended to post this blog on Wednesday night, but I ran out of steam somewhere along the line, and it never got done. Sometimes, things just seem to go backwards for me. Today, being Thursday, I set out this morning looking for some corn spills but again, came home empty-handed. I seemed to have better luck in years past when Pheebs was with me...............

GROANER'S CORNER:(( There were two evil brothers. They were rich and used their money to keep their ways from the public eye. They even attended the same church and looked to be perfect Christians. Then, their pastor retired and a new one was hired. Not only could he see right through the brothers' deception, but he also spoke well and true, and the church started to swell in numbers. A fund-raising campaign was started to build a new assembly. All of a sudden, one of the brothers died. The remaining brother sought out the new pastor the day before the funeral and handed him a check for the amount needed to finish paying for the new building. "I have only one condition," he said. "At his funeral, you must say my brother was a saint." The pastor gave his word and deposited the check. The next day at the funeral, the pastor did not hold back. "He was an evil man," he said. "He cheated on his wife and abused his family." After going on in this vein for a small time, he concluded with, "But, compared to his brother, he was a saint."

An archaeologist is the best husband a woman can have...The older she gets, the more interested he is in her.

A woman was chatting with her next-door neighbor. "I feel really good today. I started out this morning with an act of unselfish generosity. I gave a twenty-dollar bill to a bum." "You gave a bum twenty whole dollars? That's a lot of money to just give away. What did your husband say about it?" "Oh, he thought it was the proper thing to do. He said, 'Thanks.'"

Beautiful fall colors ! Autumn always makes me think of the last few good years of our live - SPRING when we are young and vibrant; SUMMER, when we are full of energy and ability to work; AUTUMN when we are able to sit back and relax into an easier pace; and WINTER, when we are just able to stay warm and live with our memories, and wish we could have had more time to really live.

Delete"Missed the sunrise by 10 min" Wow, that was quite a night you and Woodsy had. I must say I am a bit envious. The last time I did that I was 18 not 81.
ReplyDeleteOooops, it should have been sunset. I have since changed it and thanks for pointing that mistake out to me. And yes, those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end. 18 to 81 Zooooooom:((
DeleteYes, some days are better than others. And I remember your corncob walks with Pheebs. And the yellow butterflies guiding your way...forward. Hope the farmers leave those road edges unmowed, the wildflowers were lovely. I also hate the thought of a cold winter...age does that to us. Lovely seeing Kelly's pics today, and the picture of Pheebs warming up under the blanket *grin*.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your pics from your RVing days.... and Pheebs under the blanket is precious. Covid is going around... wondering if that's what Woodsy had for so long.
ReplyDeleteI too do not look forward to winter. The limitations that prevent me getting out in my wheelchair really change my life for 5 or 6 months, and I have to come up with activities to keep myself sane!
ReplyDeleteYou do an amazing job of staying sane my friend. G.
DeleteSomeone I know is associated with a group that adopts elder dogs into quiet homes. I thought of you when she showed a recent intake. Not sure if you checked out this group> kingstonldr@elderdog.com
ReplyDeleteYour "yellow-winged gull" looks like it's made out of leaves, the same color as the leaves to the right. Also, Google has never heard of a yellow-winged gull. Instead it tried to sell me glaucous-winged gulls.
ReplyDeleteSure happy to see the #3 bridge nearing completion. We've sure missed that route.
