IT WOULD PUT A BIG SMILE ON HER FACE

A THURSDAY AFTERNOON PHOTO OF BAYFIELD'S SOUTH PIER SLOWLY ICING OVER
Wednesday::  With more snow falling in the night, we have about a foot of the cold white stuff on the ground now.  With temperatures coming up to just above freezing, that snow is moisture-laden and heavy.  I had shovelled the whole driveway out about four days ago, and after another light snowfall, Lorraine (at her insistence) shovelled the whole driveway yesterday.

THERE'S WOODSY WORKING HARD WITH THE SNOW SHOVEL
WE HAVE A LARGE DRIVEWAY, SO THAT MAKES FOR A LOT OF SNOW SHOVELLING
This morning, with the new and wet snowfall, I again shovelled out the driveway. And, guess what?? Yup, it's snowing again:((  Area school buses have been cancelled, and there are weather advisories out discouraging people from traveling.

A FEW SNOWY PICS FROM AROUND OUR YARD TUESDAY
Ever since we had some new updated internet equipment installed about a month ago, we've had problems with one of the TV remotes.  A few days ago, while messing with the remote trying to fix the volume, I lost reception on the living room TV.  The screen went black, and there was a hishing sound.  An Eastlink (our Internet Provider) service fella arrived this morning, and it didn't take him long to solve my big TV dilemma, and of course, as it turns out, it was my fault.  I somehow already knew that, but what I had done wrong was the simplest of mistakes.  We have a large screen LG smart TV sitting on a stand.  To the side I have a small digital clock, and last week, while dusting the TV stand, I decided (after about 7 years) to slide that clock across the TV stand to center it with the TV.  Ya, that looked better, but.....I didn't clue in that it was about the same time the volume on the TV began not working properly.  To make a long story short, that particular model of LG TV has its remote control sensor at the center, below the bottom of the TV screen.  Yup, I had moved that clock right smack dab in front of that remote sensor.  Luckily, the Eastlink tech guy quickly found the problem, and by moving the clock out of the way, had the TV up and running within seconds.  He said, most TVs have their remote sensors in the top corner of the screen.  But not this LG.  So, there you have it, problem solved.  So, if you suddenly start having trouble with your remote on a large screen LG TV, you might want to move Granny's picture that you have sitting in front of the 'all but hidden' remote sensor on the bottom of your TV.

YOU CAN SEE THE TV REMOTE SENSOR AT THE RIGHT JUST BELOW THE LETTERS LG
Now, while all this was going on, and to add to my dilemma, I took my iPhone and laptop computer to the computer store in Goderich to have them configure it with all this iCloud stuff last Monday, and I've been without my laptop and phone ever since.
Wednesday afternoon, despite the weather, Lorraine and I, on snow-covered roads, headed off to Goderich to pick up a few things at Giant Tiger, Dollarama, the Canadian Tire Store, and Walmart.  While in Goderich, I stopped around to the computer place hoping my iPhone and laptop were done.  Nope.  By the time we left Goderich, it was dark, snowing heavily, and the wind had picked up, blowing the snow around, making for iffy visibility at times and mushy roads.  No problem for the Subaru with its 'All Wheel Drive' though, and we made it home without any problems.

STORMY LOOKING SNOW CLOUDS OUT OVER THE LAKE IN GODERICH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
Thursday:: Lorraine shovelled the driveway Wednesday evening, and with another couple of inches of snow overnight, I shovelled the whole darn driveway plus my birdfeeder paths all over again this morning.  It's about a 45-minute slog from start to finish, but I do welcome the exercise.  Needing to get out of the house and go do something different today, we fired up the Subaru and headed off to Clinton, Ontario.  Except, we didn't get far...it was snowing and blowing like nuts out in the countryside.  We turned around and took a drive through Bayfield instead before returning home.

 BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET THURSDAY AFTERNOON
THAT'S A COLD LOOKING LAKE HURON
ICE IS BUILDING ON BAYFIELD'S NORTH PIER
WITH SO MUCH ICE ON IT, THE SOUTH PIER IS ALL BUT HIDDEN
THERE IS A LOT OF SNOW IN THOSE CLOUDS
BUT HEY, LOOKY THERE....A PATCH OF BLUE SKY
The ContinuIT computer shop in Goderich
called late this afternoon, saying my laptop and iPhone were ready to be picked up.  The lady said the weather there was not good, but that an employee who lives in Varna could drop it off on his way home.  And, guess what.....that employee dropped by with my laptop and iPhone about 4:45 this afternoon:)))))))))))))

Thank you to all readers for your heartfelt comments on the one-year anniversary of Kelly's passing on December 10th of last year.  She had so many friends out there, and most of them she had never met.  It would put a big smile on her face to read what you all have kindly said about her.

Al's Music Box::  Harvest Moon by Neil Young.  For Kelly and I, this was always our favorite song together.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The following ad in the Atlanta Journal is reported to have received numerous calls:  "Single Black Female seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I am a very good-looking girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping, and fishing trips, and cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me.  Kiss me, and I'm yours. Call xxx-xxxx and ask for Daisy."  Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the local Humane Society about an eight-week-old black Labrador retriever.

A man walks into the psychiatrist’s office with a zucchini up his nose, a cucumber in his left ear, and a breadstick in his right ear.  He says, “Doctor, what is wrong with me?"  The psychiatrist replies, “You are not eating properly.”

A woman called a local hospital . . . ."Hello. Could you connect me to the person who gives information about patients? I'd like to find out if a patient is getting better, doing as expected or getting worse."  The voice on the other end said, "What is the patient's name and room number?"  "Sarah Finkel, room 302."  "I'll connect you with the nursing station . . . ."  "3-A Nursing Station. How can I help you?"  "I'd like to know the condition of Sarah Finkel in room 302."  "Just a moment. Let me look at her records. Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she's had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine, she is to be taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours, and, if she continues this improvement, Dr. Cohen is going to send her home Tuesday at noon."  The woman said, "What a relief! Oh, that's fantastic... that's wonderful news!"  The nurse said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it you are a close family member or a very close friend!"  "Neither! I AM Sarah Finkel in 302! Nobody here tells me squat!

  2. Haha, Al, moving that clock... that's hilarious, but how could you have known where the sensor was...I haven't a clue about ours. And how nice the Eastlink tech guy didn't laugh about the faux pas. He's likely seen much worse. How wonderful of that computer place employee to drop off your phone and computer after you had gone in but it wasn't ready. That's the kind of service that is remembered from long ago..so nice that company emulates it.
Attagirl, Woodsy, for the shovelling work. Such help is appreciated, no doubt.

    1. No, there was no charge for the service call. With maybe a dozen or more Eastlink service calls over the years, we have never had to anything.
