MONTGOMERY ALABAMA TO LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY WITH A NASHVILLE TRAFFIC JAM IN BETWEEN

OUR FEARLESS NAVIGATOR WITH MAP UNDER HER ARM CHECKS OUR TIRE MINDER SYSTEM

Rolled out of Montgomery Alabama’s Cracker Barrel by 7:30 and headed North on I-65.  It was one of those excellent driving mornings.  A bit on the cool side with bare dry roads and a high light cloud cover with diffused sunlight filtering through.  Made for a real pretty morning traveling through Alabama’s rolling hills.  I like that State.

OUR INQUISITIVE NAVIGATOR CHECKS TO SEE WHAT THE TENNESSEE RIVER IS DOING IN ALABAMA

Being a Saturday, traffic was thankfully lite.  Luckily we had the two best traveling days of Saturday and Sunday ahead of us.  Lighter traffic volumes, less trucks, construction zones shut down for the week-end, and no morning or afternoon rush hours to contend with.  Wish every traveling day was a Saturday or Sunday.

Our goal today was to reach Nashville with a secondary goal of maybe Louisburg Kentucky.  Luckily we made both and this post is coming to you from a Cracker Barrel on the west side of Louisberg.

Traffic was lite through Birmingham Alabama and we never had any problems.  Think it might have been around 11 a.m.

It was around Noon when we plowed into the West side of Nashville Tennessee and again thanks to it being Saturday traffic was slightly civilized.  Well that is until we ran into a big stop an go traffic jam due to an accident again.  When oh when oh when will people ever learn how to drive on multiple lane highways!!!!

Exiting Nashville on the East side around 1 p.m. we decided to keep on going and do the 150 mile drive to Louisville and that way use Sunday for Cincinnati or Indianapolis whichever way we decide to go.  If we can avoid a week day drive through any major city regardless of what time of day it is we will go out of our way to do that.

GAINESVILLE FLORIDA TO MONTGOMERY ALABAMA….FELT LIKE TRAVELING SOME BACK ROADS FOR A CHANGE

DSC00512

A FROSTY START TO OUR FLORIDA MORNING

Under clear sunny skies we rolled out of our Bass Pro Shop location in Gainesville Florida about 7:30 this morning.  I-75 was already roaring about a quarter mile away but once we cleared the city it quieted right down and more or less stayed that way.

DSC_0001

WAS RELIEVED TO SEE I-75 QUIET RIGHT DOWN AFTER LEAVING CENTRAL FLORIDA

DSC_0006DSC_0008DSC_0009

North of Valdosta Florida we exited I-75 at a town called Tifton and headed off in a northwesterly direction following highway 82.  Just wanted to get off the demolition derby stock car track for awhile and see some relaxing back road scenery for a change.  And back roads scenery we did see.  I really liked the Georgia and Alabama countryside with it’s forests, green fields, early blooming Spring flowers, quaint little towns and winding roads.  Reminded me a lot of our area back home in Huron County.

SO NICE BEING ON QUIET RURAL ROADS WITH VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC AGAIN

‘AW COME ON DAD LET ME DRIVE WILL YA HUH’

We’ve only ever bounced off the southern end of Alabama a couple times so figured we’d kinda slide up through the middle and have a look see at an area we had never been before.

Our goal for the day was Montgomery Alabama and with no big rush going on we finally rolled into town around 4.  It was Friday afternoon, traffic was heavy, and we kinda got ourselves dis-ka-booberated for awhile trying to figure out just where we were and where it was we really wanted to go.  A Cracker Barrel finally appeared out of the confusion north of Montgomery on I-65.  We wheeled the Big E in and shut things down for the night.  Hauled ourselves into CB and plopped us down on a couple chairs for supper.  Half an hour later we were back in the rig and that was it for the day.  We’ll head North up I-65 in the morning and see where that takes us.

DUE TO A TEMPORARY TIME ZONE CHANGE WE THANKFULLY GOT TO CRACKER BARREL BEFORE THE LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON CROWD DID

DSC_0038GROANER’S CORNER:(( A couple who'd been married for over 50 years was sitting on the sofa, when the wife said, "Dear, do you remember how you used to sit close to me?"  He moved over and sat close to her.  "Dear," she continued, "do you remember how you used to hold me tight?"  He reached over and held her tight.  "And," she went on, "do you remember how you used to hug me and kiss me and nibble on my ear?"  With that, her husband got up and started to walk out of the room.  "Where are you going?" she asked.  "Well," answered the husband, "I have to go get my teeth."

Men are like a pack of Cards:
A "heart" to love them
A "diamond" to marry them
A "club" to smack them and
A "spade" to bury the body...

I got a new pair of gloves today, but they're both 'lefts'  Which, on the one hand is great, but on the other it's just not right.

- Q: What did the teddy bear say when it was offered some birthday cake?  A: No thanks, I'm stuffed.
