SEEINGS HOW I AM A FEW DAYS BEHIND I HAD BETTER GET MYSELF CAUGHT UP

DSC_7347

Before getting myself too far behind and not being able to remember things I figured I had better put together a quick update post.  Although I didn't write anything the past few days I was still busy clicking away with my camera amassing another 235 usable photos.  Not to worry they won’t all be in this post but you might want to put an extra pillow under yourself for this long post…………………….

ALRIGHTY THEN LET’S HEAD OURSELVES OFF INTO THE MYSTERIOUS SWAMP

Thursday June 14th……..Walking in the Hullett Marsh Thursday both Richard and I agreed it was a perfect weather morning.  Sunny blue skies, cooler temps with no humidity and because of that cooler air, no bugs.  It was our semi-monthly coffee tour of course and rather than drive around all over the place we headed for the Marsh and took ourselves for a walk in an area that even I hadn't ventured into before.  Oh and I should mention that we were able to do a good deed for the day when we stopped to move a small painted turtle off the road.  Two old Geezers in the right place at the right time with the right knowledge of what to do:))

Had thought of leaving my camera at home to see how I felt about that.  Well that thought didn't get very far and I felt going anywhere without my camera would be akin to going somewhere without my pants on.  Well of course that's not going to happen and besides the first time I would ever venture out anywhere without camera in hand would for sure be the time when a big huge round flying saucer would land on the road right in front of me with little green men making crazy faces through the windows.

Friday June 15th………With humidity free cooler air Friday morning I was able to spend time in the front yard continuing with my grass seeding project.  Our 15 year old oscillating lawn sprinkler finally gave up the ghost awhile back so Pheebs and I were off to the Canadian Tire Store first thing this morning for a new one and with that back home and in place I was able to get the grass seed down and watered.

Saturday June 16th……..Our plans to take the Motorhome out for a spin this morning were thwarted after I checked our live weather radar forecast and saw rain headed our way coming across Michigan and Lake Huron.  Although the rains turned out to be light I didn't want to get the rig all dirtied up with road grime and have to expend a lot of time and energy later cleaning it all up again.  Needing to get a bit of house dust off ourselves we did crank up the Jeep and take us for a little drive around Bayfield then a few miles out into the country beyond.  Stopped for a leg stretch and spotted a Mother Deer with her little one.

AND I DIDN’T KNOW UNTIL I EDITED THE PHOTO LATER THAT SHE HAD A LITTLE ONE WITH HER

DSC_7201
We were back home within an hour and by noon rains had stopped and skies began to clear.  The lite rain we had was really not enough to do any good for plant life and it certainly was not enough to wash all the dust like pine pollen off the Motorhome.  I would much prefer to have rain wash the rig off rather than the garden house which leaves everything spotty.  Did manage to get the windshield and two front windows plus side mirrors cleaned though.  At least I can see out to drive it now.

It was a warm Saturday night, I put on my best shirt, loaded up the Pheebs, cranked up the tunes and away we went with the windows down.  It was channel 073 on our Sirius Satellite Radio with Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, Tex Beneke, Vaughn Monroe, the Mills Brothers, and more riding along with us.  I love how the Big Band music takes me back to my childhood to a time of  wide eyed magic and wonderment.  With a reasonably priced Double Buddy Burger on my mind our destination was A&W in Goderich.

NOW DON’T CRY PHEEBS, MOM FORGOT TO GIVE ME MY ALLOWANCE THIS WEEK SO i COULD ONLY GET ONE DOUBLE BUDDY, BUT YOU HAD YOUR SHARE RIGHT

With burger in hand dripping fried onions on my clean Saturday night shirt we headed downtown and cruised the main drag which in Goderich is a circular route around the center of town. Just a beautiful Saturday night as we made our way down around the harbor and beach.  I am always in this area during morning hours and what a treat it was to be here in the evening with a setting sun.  From various locations I took so many photos my camera almost melted down.  I will have to spread those photos out over a number of future posts.   People enjoying themselves, placid lake waters, cloud patterns, and the sunset itself as old Sol slowly sank into the cool waters of Lake Huron.

With windows still down and darkness slowly descending around us we set course for home.  Benny Goodman, Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters,  Billy Ekstein, Louie Armstrong, Vic Damone, Billie Holiday, Les Paul and Mary Ford  serenaded us all the way.  What a great Saturday night we had and how nice it was to be outside going somewhere and seeing things both in a different light and perspective.  It was so nice to break with my usual evening routine.  A true treat indeed.

‘HEY DAD IT’S GETTING DARK SO CAN I DRIVE HOME’

Sunday June 18th……..Our morning dawned clear and warm and for a nice change I was in as good a mood as when I went to bed.  Now why can’t that always happen.  We were off to a good start at least for a couple hours before the heat and humidity built up.  Snagging a coffee to go in Clinton we headed for the Hullett Marsh hoping to get a walk in.  Too late as the heat had already brought the dreaded and horrid biting Deer Flies out already.  We only made it about 30 feet from the Jeep when we had to beat a hasty retreat and get out of there.  Continued ambling around a few more country roads.

Stopping at a second favorite spot about 40 minutes after our first stop we were again beset by those damn Deer Flies but not before getting a few lily pad photos as well as that of a big old Bullfrog chug-a rumming himself in the water.  By the time we got ourselves back to the Jeep with a whole swarm of Deer Flies after us it was already too hot for any more outside activities so with Libby’s A/C on we made a bee line for home.  Out of the Jeep we bolted into the house where we again fired up the A/C unit.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh:)))))

NOT TO WORRY, THE BLUE JAYS LATER FLUFFLED THEIR FEATHERS AND FLEW OFF UP INTO THE COOLER TREES

Tomorrow night I will have the remainder of Saturday night’s sunset photos.  See, I told you to get yourself a an extra pillow before starting this blog post.  Thanks again everybody:))

KEEPING MY HAND IN

DSC_7277

A BLOOMING ROSE FROM OUR BACK YARD

GROANER’S CORNER:(( There was this little guy sitting in a bar, drinking his beer, minding his own business when all of a sudden this great big dude comes in and -- WHACK!! -- knocks him off the bar stool and onto the floor. The big dude says, "That was a karate chop from Korea." The little guy thinks "GEEZ," but he gets back up on the stool and starts drinking again when all of a sudden -- WHACK!! -- the big dude knocks him down AGAIN and says, "That was a judo chop from Japan." So the little guy has had enough of this... He gets up, brushes himself off and quietly leaves. The little guy is gone for an hour or so when he returned. Without saying a word, he walks up behind the big dude and -- WHAM!!!" -- knocks the big dude off his stool, knocking him out cold!!! The little guy looks at the bartender and says, "When he gets up, tell him that's a crowbar from Sears.
