PHEEBE HAD HER TAIL SURGERY TODAY

THIS IS MONDAY AUGUST 13TH POST

About 10 o’clock Sunday night Pheebs and I took a short mile drive out the east end of our Park stopping on a county road.  We were there to have us a look at the Perseid Meteor shower.  Stepping out of the Jeep and looking up I saw right away we were out of luck.  A thin high cloud cover blocked out most of the stars except for a few in the handle of the big dipper.  And that wasn’t even the area where the meteors would be originating from.  Ten minutes later we were back home and that was that.

It was all three of us in the Jeep before 8 a.m. this morning heading south to Zurich Ontario.  Zurich is where our Veterinary Clinic resides and this was the day Pheebs was destined to have the growth on her tail removed in a short surgical procedure.  She is always so good at the Vets and this morning was no exception.  As we slipped out the door she was being led off by one of the attendants.  Still happy of course hoping the lady had a treat in her pocket.  Because of the anesthetic she had no breakfast this morning.

WHEN WE MOVED HERE THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE GROUND BUT A THICK LAYER OF PINE NEEDLES SO I BEGAN  MAKING PATHWAYS THROUGH THE NEEDLES

ONCE i HAD THE PATHWAYS IN WE BEGAN PLANTING THINGS, LOTS OF THINGS AND ANYTHING GREEN YOU SEE BESIDES THE TALL PINE TREES WE PLANTED

From Zurich to Exeter isn’t far so Kelly and I Jeeped ourselves via the Hay swamp to Exeter’s A&W.  We had breakfast coupons and both agreed A&W puts up about as good a breakfast as anywhere and at a price where we don’t have to get a bank loan.  Doesn’t it just drive ya whackers the way prices for everything is going up, up, and way up!!!!

ONE OF THESE DAYS WHEN I GET A BIG BLAST OF SUSTAINED ENERGY I WILL GET ALL THOSE PATIO STONES LAID…..THE SHED I WAS CLEANING UP THIS MORNING

Back home well before 10 with the air still a bit on the comfortable side I had myself a nice but short burst of energy.  Got some weed whacking done and started cleaning up and organizing our wooden shed.  Soon all our yard ornaments will have to be packed away for the winter so needed space for all that.  I was doing myself real good up till about 11 when the quickly rising humidity began turning me into a ball of paste and I had to retreat into the house.  That was the end of getting anything else done outside until maybe after supper when things began to cool down again. (which I later did)

Not being out and about with Pheebs in the wild and wooly countryside of Huron County this morning I didn’t have any photos for tonight’s post so instead of slipping out to the front yard for a few pics I slipped out to our back yard for a change.  If one looks for them one can always find photos of things.

Early in the afternoon I heard what sounded like a big truck and looking out our sunroom window saw a tractor trailer towing a trailer with a yellow machine on the back.  It pulled up right in front of our place and stopped.  Driver got out, put the trailer ramps down and disembarked the yellow machine.  Oh-Oh I thought……are we next??  Is that machine going to come in here and dig us out??  Nope, it went around the corner and down to where the latest two units are being put in.  Whewwww, close call for us guys……….

In the afternoon hours we waited patiently for the phone to ring and the Vet Clinic to tell us everything was fine and we could come and pick up the Pheebs.  That call finally came at 11:55 saying Pheebs was out of surgery, doing fine and snoozing at the moment.  We could pick her up at 3:10 so at 3 p.m. we were at the Vets to pick up one very happy to see us little doggy.

SHE’S SO HAPPY TO BE HOME HER TAIL WAS WAGGING SO FAST THE  BANDAGE ALMOST FLEW RIGHT OFF

Pheebs hadn’t had anything to eat in 24 hours so she sure was hungry by the time we got home.  Vet said not to feed her too much right away in case she threw it up.  Aside from crying and whimpering for a bit she just about back to her old self and has not been biting or licking the bandage.  I think by morning she will be raring to get out for a Jeep ride and a walk.  She gets the bandage off middle of next week and her 3 stitches out in 14 days.  Think I remember somebody asking about her itchy ears and they are doing good.  It’s possible she has been allergic to her dog food so we are switching dog foods.  All her blood tests came back perfectly normal today and the growth that was removed from her tail will be sent to a lab to determine what caused it and if it is cancerous.  All and all at the time of posting tonight she’s doing fine:))))

OUR BACK YARD PRICKLY PEAR CACTUS PATCH IS DOING WELL AFTER A SHAKY START THIS SPRING

He knocks on the restroom door and says, "Tickets, please!" The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on.The accountants see this and agree it is a clever idea. So after the conference, the accountants decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money.When they get to the station, they buy one ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers don't buy a ticket at all."How are you going to travel without a ticket?" says one perplexed accountant."Watch and you'll see," answered an engineer.When they board the train all three accountants cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. Despite disliking daily ‘repetition-repetition-repetition’ in  blogs I have a habit of doing it myself with my opening weather reports plus Pheebs and I always ‘heading’ off somewhere.  It’s a real challenge for we daily Bloggers to try and keep things interesting and not be so predictable day after day.  There, I just got through my first paragraph without a weather report.  Well fancy that:))

Another pleasantly cool morning with clear blue skies and light winds.  Damm, I just did it again!!  Pheebs and headed North up to Goderich…..I give up!!!!!!

Okay, let’s try this again shall we……….. Reading the Furry Gnome’s Carnival Day post this morning Stew talked about using his Smartphone’s camera.  I thought of what he said while Pheebs and I were down around the Goderich harbor so whipped out my ‘Smartypants’ phone and attempted a couple pictures.  Well of course I was all thumbs and bumbles.  Problem is with so many cameras at my disposal I have never bothered to seriously get to know my Smartphone’s camera or much else about the phone unfortunately.  I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy A5 about a year now and have only maybe taken a dozen pictures with it.  Below are a few photos I managed with one of them being an accidental selfie.

Might look like I have sunglasses on in the above selfie but I don’t.  Those are progressive lenses and they are the kind which automatically turn dark when outside.  I’ve had them about 4 years now and think they are just the greatest.  Some folks still have to wear sunglasses with those kinds of lenses but sunglasses for me are a thing of the past.  Unless the Sun is sitting right on the road in front of me I never have to wear sunglasses anymore.

Seems my biggest obstacle to learning anything new these days is my dam impatience and with anything electronic or tekky oriented my impatience just seems to go right off the deep end!!  I’ve had my Smartphone over a year now and I still haven’t even attempted to make a call with it and each of the two times it rang in the past 380 days it scared me so bad I nearly jumped out of my pants.  When I got myself unflustered enough to press some buttons and try to answer it, who or whatever was on the other end were long gone.  Think they were probably sales calls anyway so no great loss.  What I really need to do is re-join the military and go through boot camp again to get some much needed self discipline back into my life.  Maybe that would help me take the time to figure out and understand things.  Ya, like that’s really gonna happen eh!!

With the change of Seasons stirring now I’ve noticed how nicely it cools down in the evening then cools down even further during the night hours with that coolness hanging on longer through the morning.  I have a ton of things to do in this next month and I am hoping outside temperatures soon drop low enough that I can comfortably get back outside and get rolling.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Bob, a handsome dude, walked into a sports bar around 9:58 PM He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV. The 10:00 PM news was coming on. The news crew was covering a story of a man on a ledge of a large building preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Bob and said, 'Do you think he'll jump?' Bob says, 'You know, I bet he'll jump.' The blonde replied, 'Well, I bet he won't.' Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, 'You're on!' Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death. The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Bob, saying, 'Fair's fair. Here's your money.' Bob replied, 'I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 6 PM news and so I knew he would jump.' The blonde replied, 'I saw it too; but I didn't think he'd do it again.' A few garage sales in the Park this morning delayed our getting on the road.  No I didn’t go to any selling of garages but Pheebs and Kelly did so it was after nine when me and the furry kid hit the road.  Cool enough for me to put on a jacket first thing but I wasn’t long in discarding it.

Not wanting to follow any of our usual routes we headed southeast from our place in the direction of Exeter Ontario.  A beautiful morning as we cruised along snapping a few photos.  Followed a dead end road into the Hay Swamp then got out and hoofed it further in until the pesky Mosquitos drove us back out again.

I had promised Pheebs we’d split an A&W Double Buddy Burger quite awhile ago so being close to Exeter we slipped into town.  Of course being in one of my cheapskate modes I opted for a cheaper Sausage and Egger but Pheebs didn’t seem to notice so we were good to go.

A slow cruise back through Huron Counties Hay Swamp landed us home around 11:30.  With the air feeling muggy I wrapped up a bit of yard work and headed inside where I cranked up a couple fans.  Still dealing with an overall tiredness every day so I’ll just have to chalk it up to the Dog Days of summer and hot sticky days.

Balloon prices were inflated. Scott Tissue touched a new bottom. And batteries exploded in an attempt to recharge the market.

One of the matrons of the church was cooking a pot of her famous beans for the church potluck, and her son, Little Johnny, came running through the house, BB gun in one hand, and a handful of BBs in the other. He tripped and the BBs, naturally, went right into the pot of beans. Thinking it over, Little Johnny could think of no reason why he should risk punishment, so he said nothing.The dinner went well, and, as usual, the beans were one of the favorite dishes. The next day, the church secretary, Mary, called Little Johnny's mother and said, "Jane, your beans were delicious as usual, but what did you put in them this time?"  Jane replied, "Nothing new, why do you ask?" "Well," said Mary, "this morning I bent over to feed the cat , and shot the canary."
