COFFEE IN SEAFORTH ONTARIO AND HALF A HOUSE GOT MOVED TODAY

DSC_1568

HALF THE DOUBLE WIDE HOUSE IN FRONT OF OUR PLACE WAS MOVED LATE THIS AFTERNOON

Let me just say right up front that it was so hot and humid today it was beyond ridiculously stupid and I wouldn’t be surprised if we broke temperature records for this day!!

Our little wooden shed in the back yard has been overdue for a new roof and shingles for awhile so Mike, the same fella here in the Park who did our metal shed roof last year is going to do that for us shortly.  Before taking Pheebs for a short drive this morning I moved some things away from the shed in preparation of the roof job.  Even doing that little bit had my skin all clammy. *^%##@#** miserable humidity!!!!

By 8 a.m. it was already too hot to be sensibly outside so I took Pheebs for a short drive around Bayfield and I even popped into the carwash and hosed off the Jeep.  Leaving the carwash my spirits were immediately lifted when next door in the large vacant lot I saw a big yellow digging machine maneuvering around as well as a work truck of sorts farther back in the lot.  ‘Oh boy oh boy, could it be, could it be’……could it possibly and finally be the beginning of the new Tim Horton coffee shop project in Bayfield.  I am encouraged:))

Heading back home around 9:30 I dropped Pheebs off and slowly made my to Seaforth Ontario where at 10:30 I met my long time good buddy Jim for coffee.  Although he hasn’t posted anything in a while you can find his blog at Lifetime Sentences.  We kinda chased around a lot of the old ghosts and of course scared us up a few new ones.  We’re quite the two old Codgers when we get together and not too much less so than when we first started hanging around together over 43 years ago.

It was early afternoon when I headed home and was curious to see if work had got underway regarding the movement of the house sections in front of our place.  Nope, nothing had moved.  But……at 3:10 I heard the big bulldozer start up and an hour later I saw the first house half begin to move.  Oh Dear, it was quite a time they had trying to make a 90 degree turn through the T-intersection.  There is a cableTV-Internet box on that corner and we came within a couple feet of no TV or Internet tonight.

Have to have the Motorhome at the Bayfield Garage by 8 in the morning.  Richard will pick me up there and we will head on out of town for possibly our last bi-monthly country coffee tour.  With a bit of luck maybe we can squeeze in one more next week.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sunday morning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered thru the rear of the church.  One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church.  They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons.  The one in the middle announced, "Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!  "Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor.  After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit.  The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher,  "All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now.  You may begin the service."

A girl was visiting her blonde friend, who had acquired two new dogs, and asked her what their names were. The blonde responded by saying that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex. Her friend said, 'Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?' 'HELLLOOOOOOO......,' answered the blonde. 'They're watch dogs'!

I WAS SO COLD TONIGHT I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE TO GET WARM

DSC_0007

Loaded up the little Doogins and we headed straight away for the Bayfield Garage first thing this morning.  With our departure date coming up fast we really have to get that manifold problem in the Motorhome repaired and I needed to verify they could and would do that.  So, the Big E goes in Thursday morning and we already know it’s going to be an expensive fix.

From Bayfield we slid up highway 21 to Goderich, grabbed a coffee at McD’s, and headed down to the harbor.  Not much going on but I did grab a few more pics along the beach.  Incidentally I saw a total of eight school buses this morning.

LAST FRIDAY KELLY’S DAUGHTER REBECCA, HER HUSBAND RICARDO, AND THEIR DAUGHTER ELLA STOPPED AT THE GODERICH BEACH ON THEIR WAY TO KINDARDINE SO KELLY MET THEM AT THE BEACH FOR A VISIT……IT WAS WAY TO HOT AND HUMID FOR ME TO GO

Air was slightly cooler this morning so Pheebs and I considered a walk.  While conversing thoughts with each other it began raining so that was the end of any more walking considerations.  Did make a Walmart stop though for a few RV supplies.  We were back home about 10:30 with lots of rain chasing us all the way.  With all the moisture in the air Mosquitos would have been bad in the forest today anyway.

Despite sporadic rain showers passing through our area I was still able to get a number of small things off my list before the wretched humidity began sticking parts of myself to other parts of myself.  I was back in the house by eleven.  Checking the weather I see cooler air is nearly upon us.  High 60’s and low 70’s coming up beginning Thursday.  Yes Toto there is hope for Al after all.

In a blog comment, Jodee from On The Road Abode: asked,  “It's been a while since to shared what you're reading these days”.  I did bring my book reading up to date 5 or 6 weeks ago and since then have read. ‘Woodbine Red Leader": A P-51 Mustang Ace In The Mediterranean Theater’ by George Loving.  ‘D-Days In the Pacific’ by Donald L. Miller.  ‘Top Mustang Ace’ by George Preddy.  ‘Channeling the Guides and Angels of Light’ by Melanie Beckler.  I took a chance on this book and didn’t get far with it.  Tried to keep an open mind but couldn’t help but doubt the author’s credibility.   I am currently reading, ‘A Thousand Shall Fall:  The True Story of a Canadian Bomber Pilot in World War 2’.  I’ve enjoyed all these latest reads and am especially enjoying the Canadian bomber pilot’s story.  Not hard to tell I have a fascination with those daring young men in their flying machines eh.

Been waffling back and forth for awhile whether to take the Jeep with us out East .  Later this morning  after talking it over again we reached a decision and both agreed to go it solo.  No Jeep.  We will be in a different travel mode from our usual longer southwest trips of past years.  We’ll not be camped out anywhere for weeks at a time and without endless desert Jeep roads to explore we’re going to do things a little differently on this trip.

Jim over at Explore Vistas had this question……Have you ever featured the Falls Reserve Conservation Area on the blog, Al? That looks like a pretty place to take photos that is close by you………. My answer to that question is yes I have and below is a link to last Autumn’s walk.  All three times I’ve been there were in the Fall.  Waaaaaay to many humanoids for me to go there in the summer though so I wait until the Park closes for the season.  Falls Reserve 1.

It was around suppertime when we heard the rumblings of a heavy machine coming.  It was Park co-owner Ken clanking to stop with his large bulldozer in front of the half double wide house in front of our place.  He told Kelly he plans to begin moving the two house sections Wednesday.  He has to first pull one house section around the corner then push it down to the end of the street.  The second half has to be moved down the street as well.  Once both halves are in place a big crane will come in from Wingham Ontario and sling each half up overtop the tall Pine trees and gently lower them onto a cement foundation.  I’m hoping I’ll be home in time to tomorrow to get some photos of all that.  My good Buddy Jim and I are meeting for coffee at 10:30 tomorrow morning.

With only my baggy shorts on tonight working on my post I suddenly realized I was beginning to feel really cold.  With today again being stupidly hot Kelly had cranked up the A/C and in combination with my fan blowing on me I seemed to be getting colder by the minute.  Would you believe I had to get up, walk over to the patio door and slip outside on the porch to get warm.  Good thing Mother Nature’s furnace was still running full tilt or I might have had to put on my long Johns, mitts and hat.  Oh what a life it is I lead…………………

DIDN’T LIKE THE ORIGINAL COLORS IN THIS PHOTO SO MY PICASA PHOTO EDITING PROGRAM LET ME INVERT THEM

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Farmer John lived on a quiet rural highway. But, as time went by, the traffic slowly built up at an alarming rate. The traffic was so heavy and so fast that his chickens were being run over at a rate of three to six a day.  So one day Farmer John called the sheriff's office and said, "You've got to do something about all of these people driving so fast and killing all of my chickens." "What do you want me to do?" asked the sheriff. "I don't care, just do something about those crazy drivers!" So the next day he had the county workers go out and erected a sign that said: SLOW: SCHOOL CROSSING  Three days later Farmer John called the sheriff and said, "You've got to do something about these drivers. The 'school crossing' sign seems to make them go even faster."  So, again, the sheriff sends out the county workers and they put up a new sign:SLOW: CHILDREN AT PLAY  That really sped them up So Farmer John called and called and called every day for three weeks. Finally, he asked the sheriff, "Your signs are doing no good. Can I put up my own sign?" The sheriff told him,"Sure thing, put up your own sign." He was going to let the Farmer John do just about anything in order to get him to stop calling everyday to complain.  The sheriff got no more calls from Farmer John. Three weeks later, curiosity got the best of the sheriff and he decided to give Farmer John a call.  "How's the problem with those drivers.  Did you put up your sign?"  "Oh, I sure did. And not one chicken has been killed since then. I've got to go. I'm very busy."  He hung up the phone. The sheriff was really curious now and he thought to himself, "I'd better go out there and take a look at that sign, it might be something that WE could use to slow down drivers.  "So the sheriff drove out to Farmer John's house, and his jaw dropped the moment he saw the sign.  It was spray-painted on a sheet of wood and said, ATTENTION:  NUDIST COLONY AHEAD GO SLOW AND WATCH OUT FOR THE CHICKS!!

MY RECLINER FINALLY CAME TO MY RESCUE

DSC_1509
STOPPED NEAR KERR'S CAMPGROUND EARLIER TODAY  FOR A LEG STRETCH BUT THE MOSQUITOS GOT US
With temperatures already over 71F at 8 o’clock this morning I knew it was going to be ‘another’ inside day, and so it was.   Pheebs and I did get out for a short jaunt but going for a walk anywhere was totally out of the question.  We had one leg stretch stop and the Mosquitos were right on us.  Mosquitos love this kind of wretched hot and humid weather.

GUESS WE’LL BE SEEING LOTS OF THESE AFTER TODAY
We were back home about an hour after we left and aside from carrying some clothes out to the rig that was it for me.  It wasn’t that the day didn’t look nice, it did, but for me the air was way to ickily sticky.

Seeing a car drive slowly by out front this afternoon reminded me it was 15 years ago today Kelly and I in our search for a house drove into this Park and spotted a mobile home Park model on the bulletin board for sale.  The price was unbelievably low so we decided to have a look.  Driving down the street we spotted it and I knew instantly ‘this was it’.  And it was.  We’re still here all these years later.  Below is how we first saw it (with the exception of the 2 cedar trees) that day and nobody was in it.  In fact it had been empty for 3 years.  Where you see the wooden door is now where our sunroom is.

After restlessly bonking around in the house for a few hours today my recliner finally came to my rescue about 2 p.m.  Every time I slip into the comfy cozy cushiness of my overstuffed chair I figure that's it, why would I in my right mind ever leave such a safe and secure comfortable place to go out and face the world again and again.  I don't have a decent logical answer for that so out of habit I keep dragging myself up to go do that silly world thing over and over day after day.  It just don't make no good darn sense to me……..

MISS PHEEBS TIPPY TOEING THROUGH THE WET DEW LADEN GRASS THIS MORNING
GROANER’S CORNER:(( Angus, while riding his heavy workhorse was trapped in a bog and seemed a goner when Big Mick O'Reilly wandered by. "Help!" Angus shouted, "I'm sinkin'!" Don't worry," assured Mick. "Next to the Strong Muldoon, I’m the strongest man in Erin, and I'll pull ye right out o' there." Mick leaned out and grabbed Angus’s hand and pulled and pulled to no avail. After two more unsuccessful attempts, Mick said to Angus, "I can't do it. The Strong Muldoon could do it alone, mebbe, but I’ll have to get some help." As Mick was leaving, Angus called "Mick! Mick! D'ye think it would help if I pull me feet out of the stirrups?
