WIND AND RAIN WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY

DSC_4446-001

MY READING CORNER FOR THE WINTER

Changed things up a bit this morning with all 3 of us in the Jeep on our way to Goderich.  Had some paperwork to do at the MTO. (Ministry of Transportation Ontario)  I can tell Kelly’s a little uneasy with me doing a lot of that paperwork stuff any more.  It seems I have a habit of confusing myself nowadays.

PHEEBS AND I WERE DRIVING MISS KELLY THIS MORNING AND YOU CAN SEE WHY KELLY WOULD BE LEERY ABOUT LETTING ME OUT OF THE HOUSE ALL BY MYSELF WITH ALL THAT PAPER WORK

Poured rain all night and there were still buckets of the stuff coming down this morning while we popped into A&W and Walmart.  Home again by 10 and with brightening skies an hour later the rain finally stopped.  We now have a 65 mph wind warning going on.   At the time of posting this tonight it was again raining:(((

A notification on Facebook this morning reminded me of where the Bayfield Bunch was 11 years ago on this day.  Seems we were at an RV Park in Moab, Utah and were hiking around in Arches National Park.  Below are a few photos from that day.

GROANER’S CORNER:(( Divorce Letter::

Dear Wife: I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you for good…!!! I've been a good man to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it. These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you had quit your job today and that was the last straw. Last week, you came home and didn't even notice that I had gotten a new hair cut, cooked your favorite meal and even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You came home and ate in two minutes, and went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me anymore or anything. Either you're cheating on me or you don't love me anymore, whatever the case is, I'm gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. Don't try to find me. Your SISTER and I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!

Dear Ex-Husband: Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a good man is a far cry from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining and griping. Too bad that doesn't work. I did notice when you got a hair cut last week, the first thing that came to mind was “You look just like a girl!” but my mother raised me not to say anything if you can't say anything nice. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago. I turned away from you when you had those new silk boxers on because the price tag was still on them. I prayed that it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed fifty dollars from me that morning and your silk boxers were $49.99… After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I discovered that I had hit the lotto for ten million dollars, I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica. But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason I guess. I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said with your letter that you wrote, you won't get a dime from me. So take care. Signed: Rich As Hell and Freeeeeeeeeeee! P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this but Carla, my sister, was born Carl. I hope that's not a problem.

SLOW START TO THE DAY BUT IT PICKED UP LATER

DSC_4416

Windy cold and wet morning.  Tried hard to convince myself to just stay in my recliner, pull a blanket over my head, and call it a day but even though it was a totally miserable start to the morning I couldn't just sit in the house doing nothing.  Cranked up the Jeep's windshield wipers, turned up the heat, tuned in my favorite Sirius Satellite Radio channel, and off Pheebs and I went.

NOT MUCH GOING ON DOWN AROUND THE BAYFIELD HARBOR THIS MORNING

WITH LEAVES OFF MOST TREES NOW HORNET AND SQUIRREL NESTS ARE EASILY SEEN

THIS CORN FIELD STILL AWAITS HARVESTING

Luck was with us as morning rains soon backed off to a mild drizzle then quit altogether.  Cheered up I grabbed a coffee to go at Shopbike Coffee Roasters on Bayfield’s main street and headed off out into the country.  Roads were muddy but I have accumulated enough mud on the Jeep that another couple hundred pounds wasn't going to make much of a difference.

ALTHOUGH GRAVEL ROADS WERE WET WE PUDDLED AROUND ON THEM ANYWAY

CAN YOU SEE THE FACE IN THE TREE??

My spirits, lifted by slowly brightening skies made being out and about worthwhile so we carried on taking in the countryside.  Nothing too colorful in the way of photos but we did find a few things that caught my eye.

It was 10 o’clock by the time we wandered ourselves back home through an occasional sun splash but they were only brief splashes as clouds continued to dominate the sky.  Looking ahead on our weather site I see temperatures dropping toward the end of the week and we’ll soon be in the mid to lower 30’s for daytime highs.  Guess I had better be thinking about crawling under our unit and shutting the outside water off till next Spring:((

With temps in the low 50’s I again spent some time outside in the flowerbeds pulling out patches of yellowed Hosta leaves.  We are expecting high winds Tuesday and I figure that will bring down the last of our tree clinging leaves.

<<< THESE TIRES ARE NOW ON THE JEEP

Had a 3:30 appointment at Clinton's Huron Tire Craft to have our heavier duty snow and desert sand tires put on so that's what I did.  Using one of the summer tires I at least now have a spare tire once more.  I was home again within the hour.  Although a bit noisier I’m glad to have these tires back on the Jeep.  Coupled with our Jeep’s 4 wheel drive I found out first hand last December how great this combination is on snow covered back roads where Pheebs and I generally are.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Not exactly ‘Home Sweet Home’

Ring bell for maid service. If no answer, do it yourself!I

Clean house every other day. Today is the other day.

If you write in the dust, please don't date it.

I would cook dinner but I can't find the can opener!

A clean kitchen is the sign of a wasted life.

My house was clean last week, too bad you missed it!

I came, I saw, I decided to order take out.

If you don't like my standards of cooking lower YOUR standards.

Although you'll find our house a mess, come in, sit down, and converse anyway.  It doesn't always look like this you know, some days it's even worse.

A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen, and this kitchen is delirious.

A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand!

Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

Countless number of people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal lives.

My next house will have no kitchen, just vending machines.

I'd live life in the fast lane, but I am married to a speed bump.

Mother does not live here any more, clean up your own mess.

On my first day of school my parents dropped me off at the wrong nursery. There I was surrounded by trees and shrubs.
