MAYBE A CHANGE OF PACE

I guess our biggest accomplishment today was successfully hooking up a television in the Winnie-Wagon.  Other than that it was a dull cloudy day with not much going on.  Only took one photo which happens to be the harvested bean field above and that was it.  Sorry folks, I've been struggling these past few weeks trying to come up with my daily words and photos but I seem to have mired myself yet again in my same old repetitious rut.  Bear with me, I'm not giving up, I'm just going through another one of my difficult times.  Maybe a change of pace and a few days on the road in the RV will give me a different and more positive perspective on things...............

I GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT SOON ENOUGH

HAD TO CRANK UP SOME HEAT IN THE HOUSE TODAY
Our seasonal change from summer into autumn is in full swing as thunder, lightning, rain, and cooler temperatures swept through just before daybreak this morning.  Those cold rains continued all morning but Pheebs and I were not deterred.  On with my raincoat and away we went out the door making a mad dash for the Jeep.  Cranked up the heater and off we went splashing our way down the road.  Slipped through Bayfield and headed for the muddy but still green countryside.

SEEMS ONLY A MONTH AGO THESE BOATS WERE PUT INTO THE WATER AND HERE WE ARE ALREADY CLOSING IN ON THE END OF THE SEASON

I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED THE CURVING LINES ON SAILBOATS
Rainy days are often moodily reflective days and this morning's Jeep ride was one of those times.  I changed my Sirius Satellite Radio channel from the 'Chill Lounge' to the 'Spa' to reflect my mood and was welcomed by guitarist Will Ackerman's ambient music.  'Driving' was playing and I thought, how fitting.  I love this type of music and especially at this time of year.  Pot Pourri, scented candles, soft lighting, fireplace going, and quiet music thwarting the outside chills and inclement weather.  Will Ackerman's music always puts my fluctuating moods in a mellow place I well understand whether it be at home or out cruising around in the countryside with my best Pal, Pheebs.

Needing to get some blood work done by Friday for my Nurse Practitioner and Diabetes Nurse I headed off for the Dynacare lab at Goderich's Maitland Valley Medical Clinic this afternoon.  The usual Covid protocols but I finally got in.  At least there wasn't a long outside line-up for a change.

ME AND THE KID

With temperatures only reaching the low 50's and a cold dampness in the air today it was time to turn some heat on in the house.  Kelly fired up our sunroom fireplace this morning and after supper tonight I cranked up our house furnace.  Ohhhh, how nice that warm air felt wafting out of both the heat registers and fireplace.  I also have a small ceramic heater under my computer desk if I feel the need to really toast myself up.  Warm or cool work for me while hot and cold do not!!
With a bit of luck and weather permitting we may very well be someplace next week at this time other than where we are now.  The Winnie-Wagon is ready to go and it is now up to us to pry ourselves out of our sedentary lifestyle, strap on our RV traveling hats for the first time in a year and a half, and once again cast our eyes down the road to distant horizons and unknown destinations.  We did it once, can we do it again?  Can we recapture those RV freedoms, adventures, and travel joys we once loved so well, or has too much water passed under the aging bridge.  Is it the last kick at the can for us?  Can we pick up where we left off or start all over again from scratch?  I guess we'll find out soon enough.........

REALLY HAPPY ABOUT OUR NEW CUSTOM MADE RUNNING BOARDS ON THE WINNIE-WAGON

THIS GOLDENROD HORSE WAS NOT WANTING TO GIVE ME ANY FACE TIME
We had us a special weather advisory issued Sunday night warning of high gusting winds sometime around midnight. The winds came but it was the thunder, lightning, and rain that woke us up the most.

Loaded up Little Chief Crazy Beans shortly after 8 and headed out under a cloudy overcast.  We were the only ones on the early morning road between Bayfield and Goderich this holiday Labor Day Monday.  Two big Class A's, a C, and a fifth-wheel trailer in Goderch's Walmart parking lot.

I THINK THAT MIGHT BE A RIALTA THERE IN THE GODERICH HARBOR RV PARKING AREA
High overnight winds had whipped up Lake Huron waters.  With the way waves were crashing over Goderich's restoration boulders along the shoreline I figure there are going to be some mighty nice ice sculptures along the new rocky shore this coming winter.

OH BOY I HOPE OUR JEEP FLOATS

It's funny sometimes how we don't see the things we look at every day and how not seeing something on a regular basis tends to convince the brain it probably never existed in the first place.  Take for example my blog's sidebar where there is a page entitled 'Kelly and Al...Who We Are'.  This page title has breezed by my eyes every day for the past five years but I didn't see or pay it any attention until a couple days ago.  I knew what the page contained of course, or did I.  Out of curiosity I clicked on it and yes there were the paragraphs I had written.  But here's the kicker, I had written those paragraphs 5 years ago and had not remembered to update the page since May of 2015!!!!  We still had the house in Congress Arizona then.  Well, without further ado I set about updating it today in about the shortest manner possible.  So for any readers out there who may have thought the Bayfield Bunch had dropped off the planet, you can now read the short update.  I wonder what the chances are of me remembering to update it again sometime in the next five years.  Oh geeezzzz, I guess I had best not even think about that one eh.

TRY AS I DID THESE HORSES HAD NO INTEREST IN POSING FOR A HEADS UP PICTURE TODAY
Richard finished and installed the custom running boards he made for our Winnie today.  As always, a truly professional job and I am really pleased with them.  Much safer entering or exiting the cab now.  The running boards that were on it were too narrow and I worried about twisting an ankle at some point.  Richard installed the new wood running boards right over top the old narrow aluminum boards and they are rock solid.  He also fixed an unsafe loose aluminum tube section on our coach's rear ladder and soldered me up a new towing cable set-up for our Jeep as well.  Not one of those things could I have done myself.  So grateful for his help.

THESE ARE THE NARROW RUNNING BOARDS

AND THESE ARE THE NEW WIDER RUNNING BOARDS (DRIVER'S SIDE)
I CAN EITHER STAND OR SIT ON THESE RUNNING BOARDS
DRIVER'S SIDE
PASSENGER SIDE
THAT TOP CURVED PART NO LONGER UNSAFELY WIGGLES
I'm hoping for a better week ahead.  The one behind me was not one of my best.  This aging thing is not getting any easier either mentally or physically.

THESE THREE CERTAINLY LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF MY PICTURE TAKING
GROANER'S CORNER:((   An incompetent counterfeiter spent all day making his funny money. At the end of the day, he realizes he spent all his time making $15 bills.  He figures that the only way he's going to get anything from this batch of money is to find a place where the people aren't too bright and change his phony money for real cash.  He travels to a small town and walks into a small Mom and Pop grocery store. He goes to the old man behind the counter and asks him, "Do you have change for a $15 bill?"  The old man replies, "I sure do...How would you like that? An eight and a seven, or two sixes and a three?"

A boy, frustrated with all the rules he had to follow, asked his father, "Dad, how soon will I be old enough to do as I please?"  The father answered immediately, "I just don't know, son. No male has ever lived that long yet."

I LIKE THESE KINDS OF WARM TOUCHES IN EARLY SEPTEMBER

Our temperature dipped to 42F overnight so we are at that time of year once more when we will be relying on our furnace to ward off morning chills as well as our sunroom fireplace making things all nicely comfy and cozy.  I like these kinds of warm touches in early September.

Started a big shed clean-up on the first of our two sheds this afternoon.  Don't know why I let them get into such a mess all the time.  This clean-up is going to include a dump run to the Holmesville dump next week as well.
YOUNG WILD TURKEY IN A FIELD OF CLOVER
Hard to believe the first week of September is nearly behind us already.  I expect we'll hear of an extension to the Canada/U.S. border closure soon.  September 21rst is still the latest date.
LATE SUMMER WILDFLOWERS
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A woman announces to her friend that she is getting married for the fourth time.  "How wonderful! But I hope you don't mind me asking what happened to your first husband?"  "He ate poisonous mushrooms and died."  "Oh, how tragic! What about your second husband?"  "He ate poisonous mushrooms too and died."  "Oh, how terrible! I'm almost afraid to ask you about your third husband."  "He died of a broken neck."  "A broken neck?"  "Ya, he wouldn't eat the mushrooms."
