An absolutely gorgeous Autumn day here in Southwestern Ontario Canada with sunshine and warmer 70F daytime temperatures despite a low of 37F overnight.  Truly, the nicest part of the year is upon us right now.

Our morning wanderings took us over to the Hullett Marsh but we wisely stayed on its fringe.  With the amount of gunfire going on I knew animals were dying and it was no place for Pheebs and I.  I'm so thankful my hunting interests are done with a camera and not a gun.  A big thank-you to the powers that be which changed my mind on that whole gun hunting thing when I was a young teenager.

We meandered around a number of country roads stopping here and there to enjoy the scenery and bask in the ambiance of the morning.  Another very fine day to have the privilege of being outside.

Home again around 10:30 I again spent time around the yard doing some raking, trimming a few shrubs, and carrying a few more things to the sheds for winter storage.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes folks.  Had Kelly not reminded me Wednesday morning it might have just quietly slipped right on by me.  And I'd like to thank my readers once again for your continued kind support and comments regarding my blog's photos.  It's a win-win situation for all of us when you enjoy looking at my photos as much as I enjoy taking them:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Little Johnny and his family lived in the country, and as a result, seldom had guests. He was eager to help his mother after his father appeared with two dinner guests from the office.  When the dinner was nearly over, Little Johnny went to the kitchen and proudly carried in the first piece of apple pie, giving it to his father who passed it to a guest.  Little Johnny came in with a second piece of pie and gave it to his father, who again gave it to a guest.  This was too much for Little Johnny, who said, "It's no use, Dad. The pieces are all the same size."

DO YOU SUPPOSE IF WE NEVER FELL ASLEEP WE'D NEVER GET OLD

Bit of a change to our routine this morning as all three of us all piled into the Jeep and headed for Clinton's Snips & Clips.  Pheebs had a 9 a.m. appointment with the groomer.  We dropped her off right on time then headed a short distance south of Clinton to Kate's Station for a good feed of bacon, eggs, toast, and coffee.  We couldn't remember the last time the two of us had gone out for breakfast.  Picked up our spiffy little furry Birthday girl at 10 and off for home we went.  And as usual, they did a great job at Snips & Clips:))

Another perfect sunny sixtyish day for doing things outside and that is what I busied myself with.  Well, at least for a while until I ran out of steam.  Running out of steam seems to be getting more commonplace for me these days.

Despite a beautiful Autumn afternoon we only did about half of our forest walk.  Pheebs wasn't into it knowing Kelly was in the kitchen cooking.  Pheebs likes to help Mom with the cooking so we turned around and she made a bee-line for home.  I kinda slogged slowly along behind wondering if it was the two pieces of toast I ate this morning that had me dragging.

When I went to bed Tuesday night I was 75 years old and when I woke up Wednesday morning I was 76.  Now how in the heck does that kind of thing happen anyway.  Age can be a sneaky thing in how it slips up on someone when they are sleeping and officially changes their age overnight.  Do you suppose if we never fell asleep we'd never get old?

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A musical director was having a lot of trouble with one drummer. He talked and talked and talked with the drummer, but his performance simply didn't improve.  Finally, before the whole orchestra, he said, "When a musician just can't handle his instrument and doesn't improve when given help, they take away the instrument, and give him two sticks, and make him a drummer."  A stage whisper was heard from the percussion section: "And if he can't even handle that, they take away one of his sticks and make him a conductor."
