A CHANGE OF PLANS AND KELLY DIDN'T MAKE IT HOME TODAY

 SUMAC TREES
Running the full length from north to south on the west side of our country walking road is a field of soybeans.  Or, I should say, was a field of soybeans.  Friday evening when Pheebs and I arrived at our walking spot about 6:45 I saw the field was in the process of being harvested.  Lots of dust as a big John Deere combine made its way back and forth across the field scooping up all the beans.

TURNING ONTO OUR WALKING ROAD FRIDAY NIGHT I SAW THIS COMBINE UNLOADING BEANS INTO A WAITING TRUCK
MINUTES AFTER BEGINNING OUR WALK I HEARD THE COMBINE COMING BEHIND US
IT'S QUITE A CREW THE COMBINE OPERATOR HAS WITH HIM INSIDE THE ENCLOSED CAB
Saturday I couldn't seem to amass enough brain cells in any kind of a creative way to put a blog together so the day went down the tubes before I knew it had even left.

HARVESTING BEANS IS A DUSTY BIT OF BUSINESS
 A DUSTY SUNSET
 BEANS ALL GONE NOW
THE COMBINE OPERATOR, AFTER DROPPING OFF HIS CREW  OF KIDS AT A WAITING VEHICLE UP THE ROAD, HEADS BACK TO TRANSFER HIS LOAD OF BEANS TO THE WAITING TRUCK

Sunday morning a low cloud cover hung over us complete with drizzly rain and a fine mist.  No walk for us guys so we splashed our way over to Clinton's Tim Hortons for a coffee and rare carrot muffin treat to go.

WE STARTED AND ENDED OUR DAY UNDER CLOUDY SKIES AND RAIN
EARLY MORNING HILLS OF MISTY GREEN
THE NEXT BIG HARVEST WILL BE CORN
 MISTY FARM LANES
THIS MORNINGS CLOUDS WERE SITTING ON THE POWER TOWERS
After our Saturday night walk, Pheebs and I headed home the long way through Varna.  Coming through Bayfield we drove down the main street and I was surprised to see it so busy.  Not a parking space to be had.  Lots of people out and about enjoying the patio restaurants along the street.  And all that food smelled so good.  Lineups at the two ice cream shops too.  Tonight (Sunday) Pheebs and I went out for supper and tracked us down a hamburger and fries at Bayfield's Woodland Drive-In in Bayfield's south end.
 SUNDAY AFTERNOON SUPPER OUT
An overnight cloud cover held Saturday's warmer air from escaping so our temps remained in the high 60's this morning and we were able to wind our windows down after the rain backed off a bit.  Despite the clouds sitting on top of the power towers it was a nice morning to be out and about in the countryside.

OKAY YOU CAR GUYS,,,WHAT IS THE MAKE AND YEAR OF THIS PICK-UP TRUCK
I REALLY LIKE THESE CURVED REAR CORNER WINDOWS
PHEEBS ALWAYS KEEPS A CLOSE EYE ON ME WHENEVER I AM OUT OF THE JEEP
It's been slightly over a year now that I have been reading about the whole UFO and extraterrestrial thing and I have pretty much come around full circle to where I started out from.  A big question mark still stands right in front of me staring me in the face.  I certainly know a lot more now than I did a year ago, but.....  Having said that I would like to retract a word I had used when reading these 50+ books.  I wrongly stated several times that by doing all this reading I was doing research.  Wrong!!  I was simply reading the books and gathering information and that can hardly be called research in the true meaning of the word.  This mistake came to light recently when I saw several in-depth explanations of the word 'research' in reference to covid.  Simply reading books or going online to look something up hardly qualifies as true research. It's a misused word that has been caught up in especially this current covid era and been loosely bantered about out of context.

Due to a change in plans and Kelly's mother continuing to decline Kelly didn't head for home today and has decided to wait it out for as long as she can.  Disappointing for Pheebs and I but I do understand the difficult situation Kelly is in over there in Spencerport, New York.  The whole covid thing and Canada/US border restrictions have really complicated things for Kelly as well.

Pheebs and I are fine and luckily have a nice cozy little place to stay here at home.  With my hobbies of photography, writing, reading, music, and travel I am able to keep myself reasonably busy for the most part.  With my introverted lifestyle, I never feel alone or lonely so I guess I am one of the lucky ones.  I can cook if necessary, and I've been doing my own laundry for years.  I know which end of a vacuum cleaner is the floor end and I don't let dirty dishes pile up.  I even know how to take the garbage out and mow the grass.  Now how's that for a big bag of apples eh:))
MY VERY MUCH MOST BESTEST GIRL
GROANER'S CORNER:((
The old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat on tight so that it would not blow off in the wind.  A gentleman approached her and said: “Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?”  “Yes, I know,” said the lady, “I need both hands to hold onto this hat.” “But, madam, you must know that your privates are exposed!” said the gentleman in earnest.  The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, “Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!”

I threw a ball for my dog...It's a bit extravagant I know, but it was his birthday and he looks great in a Tuxedo.

THIS SOMETIMES FALTERING MIND OF MINE

COOL CLEAR NIGHTS BRING MORNING'S HEAVY DEW
Another nice relaxing evening country road walk Thursday night.  I think one of the reasons I like this area for walking so much is the 360-degree unobstructed view I have all around me and that includes the sky.   In the pine forest where we live we are surrounded by trees and shrubs and the farthest we can see in any one direction from our property is maybe fifty or sixty feet.  Looking up we can only see a few small patches of sky.  It is so refreshing to be able to look around and see for miles.  Reminds me of the American southwest where one can see for ten, twenty, and thirty miles across those wide valleys between the mountain ranges.  Oh now I miss seeing those wide-open spaces.
HEADING WEST ACROSS NEW MEXICO WITH ARIZONA'S CHIRICAHUA MOUNTAINS DEAD AHEAD IN DECEMBER OF 2017....WE SURE HAVE SOME GREAT MEMORIES OF THOSE MOUNTAINS FROM BACK IN OUR RANCH SITTING DAYS SOUTHEAST OF TOMBSTONE IN COCHISE COUNTY NEAR MCNEAL

THIS IS ABOUT AS FAR AS WE CAN SEE IN ANY DIRECTION FROM OUR HOUSE
THIS FARMER IS OUT BURNING THE EVENING OIL
ALTHOUGH I COULDN'T SEE THIS BEAN HARVESTER I KNEW WHERE HE WAS
NO, THAT ISN'T A FIERCE SHADOW LION FOLLOWING THE SHADOW COWBOY....IT'S PHEEBS
FARMERS ARE BUSY ONCE AGAIN IN THIS DRYER WEATHER
LOOKS LIKE THIS FELLOW IS GOING TO FLATTEN OUT SOME OF THE HILLS ON HIS LAND EH:))
FROM A DISTANCE THESE ROLLING HILLS REMINDED ME OF THE CUSTER BATTLEFIELD IN SOUTHEASTERN MONTANA WITH ALL THE WHITE TOMBSTONES WHERE THE TROOPERS FELL...I TOURED AROUND THAT BATTLEFIELD IN MAY OF 1992

No particular reason to go to Goderich this morning so we went there anyway and did manage to pick up a few groceries along the way.  Lake Huron was calm and there were lots of Seniors out enjoying themselves on the mile-long boardwalk.  Even met some folks who live in our Park at the end of our street.  I had never seen them before.  I guess it shows you how sociable I am.

A LITTLE MOM AND DAUGHTER TIME
THESE CANADA GEESE ARE HAVING A NICE FLOAT ON THE CALM WATERS OF LAKE HURON
FAR FAR OUT ON LAKE HURON'S HORIZON TO THE SOUTHWEST I SPOTTED THIS....COULD IT BE THE GREAT LAKES 'FLYING DUTCHMAN' GHOST SHIP
ENJOYING A SUNNY MORNING AT THE BEACH
ROCK SCRAMBLING AT GODERICH'S ROTARY COVE
LOOKING INLAND FROM THE BEACH AND SHORELINE....THE TOWN OF GODERICH IS UP THERE ATOP THAT BLUFF
Home again I busied myself cleaning more windows and raking up some pine needles.  A near-perfect day with lots of sunshine and low 60's temps.  No wind, and how wonderful not to have all that wretched humidity in the air.

VESTIGES OF LAST YEAR'S CORN CROP IN THIS YEAR'S BEAN FIELD
Stopped at Bayfield's Porter's Hill Wild Bird Seed place and picked up a couple 20-pound bags of Deluxe Mix birdseed Thursday morning.  We had good luck with this mixture last winter and I think it went a long way to attracting the five pairs of Cardinals we had at the feeders.  The Squirrels and Chipmunks really like it too!!

I ALWAYS LOVE TO SEE ROLLING GREEN HILLS
THE ONCE GREEN CORN FIELDS ARE NO LONGER GREEN
THREE PIECES OF FARM MACHINERY IN THIS PHOTO WITH THE LARGEST MACHINE THE HARDEST TO SEE
 TULIP LANE FARMS CATTLE
And a few short words about 'Groaner's Corner'.  I know some of the jokes are sometimes repetitive as are a few of the cartoons.  With my mind not being a fail-safe computatron it doesn't always remember what jokes or toons I have posted over the years.  Occasionally things look or sound familiar and other times I have no memory of them at all.  So thanks to readers for being patient with this sometimes faltering mind of mine.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  A Few Ponderings::

- Eat right. Stay fit. Die anyway.

- The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

- Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.

- Flashlight: A case for holding dead batteries.

- Shin: A device for finding furniture in the dark.

- When single ladies near the age of 50, they tend to get lots of cats...This phenomenon is known as many-paws

- This nun was taking a bath, when there was a knock on the door.  "Who is it?," she cried.  "It's the blind man.," was the answer.
Says the nun, "Well, come on in and tell me your troubles."  In comes the man.  "Wow!" he says, "Where should I hang the blinds?"

- If the refrigerator and TV weren't so far apart, some of us wouldn't get any exercise at all.
