THEY STUFFED ME INTO THE CT SCANNER WITH MY WINTER BOOTS ON

I consider two days above freezing with a few patches of blue sky thrown in to be a nice bonus for the middle of January.

With a little coaxing and a couple doggy treats, Pheebs came up the green doggy ramp into the Jeep.  We did a little country road drive northeast of our Park before heading home.  Pheebs came down the ramp without any hesitation.  She's a good girl that one.

My Doctor's office called late last week and said they wanted me to come to Goderich for a CT scan today at 3 p.m.  So that is what I did.  Apparently a couple years ago when I had a CT scan regarding my prostate cancer they noticed I had a small spot on one of my lungs.  Of course, I had totally forgotten about this until the phone call last week.  Today's CT Scan was a follow-up to have a look at that spot again to see if it has grown.  

CAME ACROSS A WHOLE HERD OF WILD TURKEYS TODAY

 I BARELY HAD THE JEEP STOPPED WHEN THEY ALL TOOK OFF SO I JUST STARTED SHOOTIN

Just me in the Jeep this afternoon as I headed to Goderich's Alexandra Marine and General Hospital.  From the time I walked into the hospital to the time I walked out was a mere ten minutes.  The time I spent in the donut-like CT Scanner was less than one minute.  Best part about the whole procedure was I didn't have to lose my shorts.  Didn't even have to take my winter boots off.  This was my third CT scan.  My first scan was at a hospital in Tucson Arizona looking for a kidney stone.  My second CT scan was in Stratford a few years ago checking my prostate.  This third one today in Goderich was to check a spot on my lung.

Picked up a couple prescriptions, a few groceries at Walmart and I was on my way home under sunny skies.  Stopped for a few photos along the way and I was surprised at how warm the sun felt on my face.  In fact, it was strong enough to melt patches of the snow along the gravel country road I was on.  What a treat it was to be outside at a different time of day than I usually am.  Nice to see an afternoon landscape for a change.  Tomorrow we head on back into the deep freeze.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  A drunk guy in Alaska decides to go ice fishing. So he packs up his stuff and goes out onto the ice. He starts sawing a hole in the ice, and a loud booming voice says,  "YOU WILL FIND NO FISH UNDER THAT ICE."  The drunk looks up, ignores it, and continues on.  The voice repeats, "YOU WILL FIND NO FISH  The drunk looks up and says, "Is this you God trying to warn me?"  The voice says "NO, I'M THE MANAGER OF THIS ICE RINK."

DUSTING OFF A 16 YEAR OLD DOGGY LOADING RAMP

With temperatures hovering on the freezing mark it was at least a break from the last couple days when temps were down around the 19F mark.  Funny how colder temperatures can make just plain old cold temperatures feel welcome.

Tuesday morning Pheebs hopped into and out of the Jeep just fine but this morning, although wanting to get into the Jeep for a ride she was hesitant about trying to get in.  She knows her limitations better than we do.  Sixteen years ago when we first started out on our RV adventures we had a truck and fifth wheel.  There was no way Max, Checkers, and little Cora could jump up into the back seat of that high truck.  So I made them a ramp and it's the same ramp we used to encourage Pheebs this morning.  She did manage to get in and out of the Jeep using at least part of the ramp.  I think with a wee bit of practice she will soon adapt to the ramp and feel comfortable using it.  Just like Kelly and I, Pheebs is no spring chicken anymore and we all have to make changes and adapt to our growing physical challenges.

Growing up in Cochrane ON , Tim had a passion for ice hockey that would later see his career blossom when he was officially signed to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization in 1948. Tim remained a "Leaf" until 1970, winning four Stanley Cups before moving onto various American NHL teams. In 1964, Tim opened up his first doughnut shop dubbed "Tim Hortons" in Hamilton, ON. By 1968, the humble start-up became a multimillion dollar franchise and one of Canada's most recognizable brands domestically and abroad. On February 21, 1974 in St. Catharines, ON, Tim tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident on the Queen Elizabeth Way. Tim Horton was revered as one of Canada's greatest ice hockey players and the reason "Tim Hortons" is the Canadian staple it is today}

GROANER'S CORNER:((   A man asked his wife what she'd like for her birthday. "I'd love to be six again," she replied. On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early, and off they went to a local theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park: the Death Slide, the Screaming Loop, the Wall of Fear, everything there was! Wow!  Five hours later she staggered out of the theme park, her head reeling and her stomach upside down. Right to a McDonald's they went, where her husband ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a refreshing chocolate shake. Then it was off to a movie, the latest Star Wars epic, a hot dog, popcorn, soda, and M&Ms. What a fabulous adventure!  Finally, she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed. He leaned over and lovingly asked, "Well, dear, what was it like being six again?"  One eye opened. "You idiot, I meant my dress size."The moral of this story: Even when the man is listening, he's still gonna get it wrong.
