I HAVEN'T FELT MUCH LIKE MY OLD WRITING SELF LATELY

This morning, an orange Sun and pinkish sky made its way through the Pine trees and lifted my sagging spirits.  It almost made me want to run outside and play in the snow.  Yes, I do sometimes suffer from delirious spasms of ridiculous thinking.  With overhead blue skies beckoning, Pheebs and I headed east out of the Park down Bayfield River Road.  North on Parr line we ambled up to Telephone Road and turned West to begin making our way back home.  A brisk southerly wind had some ground drifting going on but nothing serious.  Took a few photos and called it day as the seemingly ever-present cloud cover rolled back in.  The rest of the day just kinda went downhill from there.  I haven't felt much like my old writing self or camera guy lately.  Maybe I just need to put my keyboard and camera in the closet for a while and take a break from things.................

Al's Music Box:)) I'll Touch A Star is a song byTerry Stafford (November 22, 1941 – March 17, 1996) He was an American singer and songwriter, best known for his 1964 US Top 10 hit "Suspicion", and the 1973 country music hit "Amarillo by Morning".  Stafford was also known for his Elvis Presley sound-alike voice.

MORNING'S SUNRISE THROUGH THE PINE TREES
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A Texan was taking a taxi tour of London and was in a hurry. As they went by the Tower of London the cab driver explained what it was and that construction of it started in 1346 and was completed in 1412.  The Texan replied, "Shoot, a little ol' tower like that? In Houston we'd have that thing up in two weeks!"  Next they passed the House of Parliament - started in 1544 and completed in 1618.  "Well boy, we put up a bigger one than that in Dallas and it only took a year!"  As they passed Westminster Abbey the cab driver was silent.  "Whoah! What's that over there?" asked the Texan.  The driver replied, "I don't know, it wasn't there yesterday."

A new bride was a bit embarrassed to be known as a honeymooner. So when she and her husband pulled up to the hotel, she asked him if there was any way that they could make it appear that they had been married a long time.  He responded, "Sure. You carry the suitcases!"

My friend just got back from a trip to Switzerland. I asked him what he thought about the scenery. He said,“Oh, I couldn't see much. All the darn mountains were in the way.”

John Smith lived in Staten Island, New York and worked in Manhattan. He had to take the ferryboat home every night. One evening, he got down to the ferry and found there was a wait for the next boat, so John decided to stop at a nearby tavern. Before long he was feeling no pain.  When he got back to the ferry slip, the ferryboat was just eight feet from the dock. Smith, afraid of missing this one and being late for dinner, took a running leap and landed right on the deck of the boat.  "How did you like that jump, buddy?" said a proud John to a deck hand.  "It was great," said the sailor. "But why didn't you wait? We were just pulling in!"

IN JUST 16 SHORT DAYS WE TURN THE CLOCKS AHEAD:))

Luckily, last night's snowfall only amounted to maybe a couple inches. Our good neighbor Frank wasn't long in getting that snow out of the driveway.  He had just blown it out the day before too.  Hey, just think....in just 16 short days we turn the clocks ahead.  Now how's that for a great thought and truly something to look forward to eh:))))  A drive in and around Bayfield with a short side trip out of town early this afternoon satisfied my curiosity about the snow load out on the country roads.  Although the Highway between Bayfield and Grand Bend was still closed, I found a few country roads open and more accessible.  It could be because of the snowed-in farms along the way.

Al's Music Box:)) Never Be Anyone Else But You is a song written by Baker Knight and recorded by Ricky Nelson with the vocal backing of the Jordanaires. The song reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959  The song was featured on his 1959 album, Ricky Sings Again.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A husband and wife were driving down a country lane on their way to visit some friends. They came to a muddy patch in the road and the car became bogged. After a few minutes of trying to get the car out by themselves, they saw a young farmer coming down the lane, driving some oxen before him.  The farmer stopped when he saw the couple in trouble and offered to pull the car out of the mud for $50. The husband accepted and minutes later the car was free. The farmer turned to the husband and said, "You know, you're the tenth car I've helped out of the mud today."  The husband looks around at the fields incredulously and asks the farmer, "When do you have time to plow your land? At night?"  "No," the young farmer replied seriously, "Night is when I put the water in the hole."

A frog telephones the Psychic Hotline and is told: "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."  The frog says: "This is great! Will I meet her at a party, or what?"  "No," says the psychic: "Next semester, in her biology class.

One Sunday after church a mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared; you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the mom was perplexed.  Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea, and the mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lessons had been about. He said, "Be not afraid; thy comforter is coming."
