I KNEW THERE WAS A CHANCE IT COULD BE AN EMOTIONAL DAY

I knew there was a chance it could be an emotional day, with a second day to follow.  Kelly's two daughter's Sabra and Rebecca, arrived today to spend a couple of days finalizing their Mom's room and closing another final chapter in their Mother's life.  The day went well.

FOR KELLY'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE IN SPENCERPORT NEW YORK THIS PAST SATURDAY, SABRA PUT TOGETHER THESE THREE PICTURE BOARDS

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A man who absolutely hated his wife's cat decided to get rid of it one day by driving it 20 blocks from his home and leaving it at the park. As he was nearing home, the cat was walking up the driveway. The next day, he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away and try the same thing. As we was driving back into his driveway, there was the cat! He kept taking the cat farther and farther away, but the darn cat would always beat him home. At last, he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right and so on until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home, and he left the cat there. Hours later, the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?" "Yes," the wife answers. "Why do you ask?" Frustrated, the man answers: "Put that damn cat on the phone. I'm lost and I need directions!"

A famed English explorer was invited to Dartmouth to tell of his adventures in the African jungle. "Can you imagine, a people so primitive that they love to eat the embryo of certain birds, and slices from the belly of certain animals? And grind up grass seed, make it into paste, burn it over a fire, then smear it with a greasy mess they extract from the mammary fluid of certain other animals?"  When the students looked startled by such barbarism, the explorer added softly, "What I've been describing, of course, is a breakfast of bacon and eggs and buttered toast."

Two businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, ' I bet any minute now some senior citizen is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling.'
No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a curious senior citizen walked to the window, had a peek, and in a soft voice asked, "What are you sellin' here?" One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling idiots." Without skipping a beat, the old timer said, "You're doing well. Only two left."

IMAGINE THAT, LEAVING ME IN CHARGE OF ALL THOSE MUFFINS AND TARTS

EVERYTIME I SEE THESE LONG FARM LANES I WANT TO TURN IN AND SEE WHERE THEY GO
Rain gently arrived sometime in the early morning and decided to stay around for the whole day.  I did make it out for a drive, but only went down to the end of Bayfield River Road and back, following my windshield wipers all the way.  However, I did manage a few photos.

JUST THINK, EVERYTHING YOU SEE IN THIS PHOTO WILL BE DEAD IN A FEW MONTHS...NOW, HOW'S THAT FOR A SOBERING THOUGHT EH
With doing anything outside today out of the question, it turned out to be an inside day, doing bits of cleaning here and there between a couple of coffee breaks and a few short snoozes thrown in for good measure.
IN ABOUT ANOTHER SIX WEEKS, THIS CORN WILL BE READY FOR HARVESTING
Woodsy, after baking a batch of carrot-pineapple muffins and a whole tray of butter tarts, headed off back home to Stratford earlier this evening.  Imagine that, leaving ME in charge of all those muffins and tarts.  Oh, they'll be safe with me, I assured her:))  And, she left the fridge full of food for me as well until she returns in a few days.

HERE'S WOODSY  IN THE FRONT, YARD GIVING A BIG SCOLDING TO A SQUIRREL THAT HAD JUST GOT ONTO THE BIRD STATION AND WAS EATING ALL THE BIRDSEED
It's still raining at the time of posting tonight, so I'll not be out and about chasing down another sunset or tooling around on the darkened country roads gazing at the stars as I go.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A photographer for a national magazine was assigned to take pictures of a great forest fire. He was advised that a small plane would be waiting to fly him over the fire. The photographer arrived at the airstrip just an hour before sundown. Sure enough, a small Cessna airplane was waiting. He jumped in with his equipment and shouted, "Let's go!" The tense man sitting in the pilot's seat swung the plane into the wind and soon they were in the air, though flying erratically. "Fly over the north side of the fire," said the photographer, "And make several low-level passes." "Why?" asked the nervous pilot. "Because I'm going to take pictures!" yelled the photographer. "I'm a photographer, and photographers take pictures!" The pilot replied, "You mean you're not the flight instructor?"

- When I was at the gym yesterday, everyone kept asking me why I was always sitting still on the stationary bike. I’m going downhill, dude, mind your own business.

- A man walked into a hardware store and picked up a can of fly spray. "Is this good for wasps?" he asks the assistant. To which she replies "No, it kills them."
