A FEW SMALL SNOW DRIFTS WERE BEGINNING TO FORM

It was the orange sunrise on this cold December morning that finally pulled me out of the house.  I fired up the Subaru and took a slow drive around our Park before heading out into the snowy countryside.  I sure miss my furry little navigator.

So nice to see patches of blue sky casting shadows on the snow as I slowly rolled through the countryside.  A few cows here, a few horses there.  Not many vehicles out and about which lulled me into thinking it was Sunday.  Not sure when it was that the reality of Friday finally jolted me out of my lulling.

Later, with a prescription to drop off at the Walmart Pharmacy, Lorraine and I headed off to Goderich.  A stiff southwest breeze caused a slight ground drift of loose snow across Porter's Hill line, but it was not enough to cause any concern.  By the time we headed home about an hour and a half later, a few small snowdrifts were beginning to form along the west side of the road.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Larry, a computer programmer for a consulting group, had designed some software for a large account. He asked John for his help in putting it into operation.  At first, Larry handled most of the work. Eventually, though, he asked John to help with the last phase of the training.When John sat down with one woman and told her he would be   showing her how to make changes to the files, she sighed with relief.   "I'm so glad you're teaching me instead of him," she said.  Surprised, John said that his colleague was far more experienced than he was.  "Yes," she said. "But I feel much more comfortable with you. I get nervous around really smart people."

I HAD BETTER GET A JOB

An orange sunrise lifted my spirits.  It usually does.  No snow overnight added to the start of my day.  By the way, yesterday I shoveled the whole driveway.  Luckily, the snow was only about 3 inches deep, but it was just enough to give me some much-needed exercise.  My intention was to fire up Subie and take myself for a drive around the snowy countryside to see if I could find a few pics.  For whatever reason, the farthest I got was a walk around the yard later in the afternoon.  Anyway, I did find a few pics.

Thanks to a couple of readers for sending the links to a few websites that talk about the wheel bearing problems in the Subarus.   And here I thought I was the only one.  Not so!!  I can look at this in two ways....Positively, that the previous owner had already replaced two of the four wheels, or Negatively, that I have replaced two and I have two to go:((  I had better get a job and try to set aside an extra thousand dollars for two more wheel bearing repairs.....just in case.

A year ago, right now, it was only days away from Kelly being transferred from the Goderich hospital to Huron Hospice west of Clinton, Ontario.

 NO MATTER WHETHER THE SEASON IS SPRING, SUMMER, WINTER, OR FALL, THIS IS ALWAYS THE GREEN VIEW WE SEE WHEN LOOKING UP FROM OUR BACK DECK

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A guy who had forgotten the dates for a number of his friends' and relatives' birthdays and anniversaries decided to compile a list on the computer and have the dates highlighted on screen when the machine was turned on.  He went to a number of computer stores to find a software program that would do the job but had no luck at the first few. Finally, he found one where the clerk seemed experienced.  "Can you recommend something that will remind me of birthdays and anniversaries?" the guy asked.  "Have you tried a wife?" the clerk responded.

The Teacher had asked the class to write an essay about an unusual event that happened during the past week.  Little Johnny got up to read his. It began, "My daddy fell into the well last week.""Good   Lord!" the teacher exclaimed. "Is he OK?"

 "He must be," said Little Johnny. "He stopped calling for help yesterday."

Linda was with her mother while her older sister was being examined by a dentist. Linda kept herself busy playing with toys in the waiting room until she noticed that her mom was resting, her eyes closed.  With about six other patients waiting, Linda marched up to her mother, looked her straight in the face, and shook her shoulder.

 "Mommy," she yelled, "wake up! This is not church!"
