GEEEEEZZZZZ HERE I GO THINKING ABOUT COMING HOME WHEN WE HAVEN’T EVEN LEFT YET…………

DSC_0004

An overnight frost on the pumpkins alright and a thin skiff of ice on Libby’s windshield that easily came off with a squirt of winter windshield washer and a couple swipes of the wiper blades.  It was awhile before Pheebs and I were able to get the windows down and feel comfortable with Libby’s heater going this morning though.

A few days ago when in Goderich I happened to swing by the Huron County Museum and noticed they had a second military vehicle outside on exhibit.  I walked around the vehicle several times looking for a plaque or something telling what it was but found nothing.  A short distance away sits an Army Tank which I think is a Sherman but again nothing to tell a person anything about it.DSC_0010

NOTHING ANYWHERE TO TELL WHAT THIS MILITARY PIECE OF MACHINERY IS

WHILE LOOKING AT THIS VEHICLE THE WORD ‘LAV’ POPPED INTO MY MIND SO LATER i LOOKED IT UP ON GOOGLE AND FOUND THIS…LAV 111…….. ‘A-HA’

A swing through Walmart, Tim Hortons, some gas and a swoop down around the Goderich harbor this morning before heading home.  Didn’t take any photos along the way and just sat back and totally enjoyed Autumn’s fine scenery passing by.  Such a special time of year and being outside puttering about in the yard later surrounded by Autumns golden glow just gave me the nicest of feelings.  It’s no wonder I so look forward to this time of year every year.

MONDAY MORNING STAFF MEETING IN THE WALMART PARKING LOT

Been wanting a dash cam for the Jeep and Motorhome for a very long time now and after seeing one on sale for a substantial saving at the Canadian Tire store last week I finally decided the time was right.  Have always felt dash cams are a good safety awareness idea for many reasons such as in the case of an accident or theft etc.  This particular cam has two lenses, one stationary lens facing forward through the windshield and a second lens which can be swiveled around to show a vehicles interior.  Both cams show on a split screen at the same time.  Right now the cams in the Jeep and when we head out in the Motorhome the cam will be in the Big EEE’s windshield recording the way ahead.  The cam also has audio but I haven’t got to all the settings yet and figured out things like date and time or how to program the one lens full screen option.  Maybe by next year at this time I might have the correct date figured out.

With a nice sunny but cool Autumn day going on we were both busy.  I vacuumed out some bins and re-arranged some stuff while Kelly, with the rig’s furnace on’ packed a lot of stuff into the coach.

THE LAST TIME I HOOKED UP THE JEEP WAS NEAR WILLIAMS ARIZONA OVER SIX AND A HALF MONTHS AGO SO I PLAN TO RE-FAMILIARIZE MYSELF WITH THE HOOKING UP PROCEDURE SOMETIME THIS WEEK THEN TAKE LIBBY AND THE BIG EEE FOR A SPIN TO MAKE SURE I HAVEN’T FORGOT HOW TO DO IT

PHEEBS WILL BE THE NEW ‘ROAD CREW’ BOSS THIS WINTER…”OK YOU BUNCH OF CARNIVAL BARKERS LISTEN UP”!!

“AND DON’T YOU GUYS GIVE ME NO SASS”

Now here’s an odd little something.  Standing in the living room earlier looking out the window at Libby and the Big EEE I was struck with the thought that by golly I’m already looking forward to getting home in the Spring so Pheebs and I can head out on our morning drives to check out all our spots around the area after Ontario’s long winter.  What!!  Okay so I don’t expect anyone anywhere to understand my line of thinking on this when we haven’t even left yet so don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.  It’s just me being me again………….

RAKING UP NEWLY FALLEN PINE NEEDLES TO SPREAD AROUND ON TOP OF OUR CEDAR BARK MULCH IN THE FLOWERBEDS…I’LL PUT ANOTHER LAYER OF CEDAR MULCH ON IN THE SPRING IN HOPES THE COMBINED LAYERS ARE THICK ENOUGH TO THWART WEEDS

THINK I’M GOING TO HAVE TO INVEST SOME TIME IN THINKING UP HOW TO BUILD ME A NEW BIRD FEEDER NEXT SPRING CAUSE THE FURRY GUYS ARE GETTING MORE EATS THAN THE FEATHERY GUYS

WE HAVE A NUMBER OF LITTLE SUMMERTIME CHARACTERS AROUND OUR YARD AND EACH FALL IT’S ALWAYS A CHORE REMEMBERING WHERE THEY ALL ARE AND ROUNDING THEM UP FOR STORAGE IN THE SHED

Sitting here tonight I was thinking ahead wondering where we might be a month from now on November 10th and i’m guessing somewhere between Florida and Arizona maybe.  it would only be a couple days after the American Presidential election and I’m thinking we just might have a lot of folks clinging to our coach begging us to take them back to Canada with us.  Quite a thought eh……………..

GROANER’S CORNER:((  A man calls home to his wife and says, "Honey I have been asked to go fishing at a big lake up in Canada with my boss and several of his friends.  We'll be gone for a week. This is a good opportunity for me to get that promotion I've been wanting. Would you please pack me enough clothes for a week and set out my rod and tackle box. We're leaving from the office and I will swing by the house to pick my things up. Oh! Please pack my new blue silk pajamas."  The wife thinks this sounds a little fishy but being a good wife that she is, she does exactly what her husband asked. The following weekend he comes home a little tired but otherwise looking good.  The wife welcomes him home and asks if he caught many fish.
He says, "Yes! Lot's of Walleye, some Bluegill, and a few Pike. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do?"
The wife replied, "I did, they were in your tackle box."

THIS TIME I DON’T THINK IT’S EVER GOING TO BE OVER AND DONE WITH

DSC_0043

I was optimistic our Sunday morning dark cloud cover would break up so Pheebs and I headed over to the Marsh.  Despite a few short bursts of sunshine it was mainly intermittent lite drizzly showers we encountered on our travels.  Not too inspiring watching Libby’s intermittent wipers occasionally flop back and forth.  When we did get out for a stretch at the Hullett Marsh the air was cold, damp, and windy.  We were home again about an hour after we left.DSC_0002-001 - Copy

Kelly’s still busy baking up a storm and I kinda kept myself half ways busy fussing about in the Motorhome doing about half a dozen of whatevers.  Now that both the Jeep and Motorhome have been checked over and serviced for our upcoming travels it’s just a lot of little stuff to putter around with.  I’m sure we will be busier next week as we count down to Tuesday October 18th.DSC_0037-001

Sure will be glad when all this political stuff is over and done with south of the border except this time I don’t think it is ever going to be over and done with.  The worst may be yet to come.  It’s not the election I’m talking about….it’s the aftermath:((

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Long ago, when sailing ships ruled the sea, a captain and his crew were in danger of being boarded by a pirate ship. As the crew became frantic, the captain bellowed to his First Mate, "Bring me my red shirt!"

The First Mate quickly retrieved the captain's red shirt, the captain put it on and led the crew to battle the pirate ship. Although some casualties occurred among the crew, the pirates were repelled.

Later that day, the lookout screamed that there were two pirate vessels about to attack. The crew cowered in fear, but the captain, calm as ever, bellowed, "Bring me my red shirt!" And once again the battle was on.

This time, the Captain and his crew repelled both pirate ships, although this time more casualties occurred. Weary from the battles, the men sat around on deck that night recounting the day's occurrences when an ensign looked to the Captain and asked, "Sir, why did you call for your red shirt before the battles?"

The Captain, giving the ensign a look that only a captain can give, exhorted, "If I am wounded in battle, the red shirt does not show the wound, and thus, you men will continue to fight unafraid."

The men sat in silence marveling at the courage of such a man. As dawn came the next morning, the lookout screamed more pirate ships were approaching, 10 of them, all ready to attack. The men became silent and looked to the Captain, their leader, for his usual command. The Captain, calm as ever, bellowed, "Bring me my brown pants!"
