YET ANOTHER CASE OF DESTINATION INDECISION FOR PHEEBS AND I THIS MORNING

DSC_0001

LUCKILY KELLY SPOTTED THIS MORNING’S SETTING MOON JUST BEFORE IT DISAPPEARED BEHIND A ROCKY RIDGE WEST OF OUR HOUSE

Once again muddled up with destination indecision Pheebs and slowly floundered our way down to the end of Ghost Town Road again.  Left or right??  We turned right out highway 71 and after only a few miles reached the highway 93 overpass.  Pulled over trying to make up my mind where to go from there.  Straight ahead about 15 miles was Aguila but we’ve been out that-away twice this past week.  Right on 93 would take us in a round about way to Baghdad and left would take us south straight to Wickenburg.  After a few seconds thought I decided it was too nice a morning to wreck my day by doing battle with all the metal maniac monsters racing up and down 93 so we made a U-turn and headed back to Congress.

Poked ourselves around some of Congress’s back streets for awhile.  Congress roads are made up of some really nice homes with beautiful southwest landscaping mixed in with absolute junk yards.  It just seems to be the way of the West when it comes to dusty little desert towns.  I’ve never understood some people’s need to drag home old junky cars, refrigerators, washers, old decrepit trailers, and just about anything else that looks like junk to clutter up their properties.  I guess there’s a lot of things I don’t understand.  DSC_0016

THIS SANDY DESERT ROAD RUNS ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF THE RAILWAY TRACKS RIGHT IN CONGRESS AND IF I WERE TO HAWK OUT GOOD GOOBER I COULD PROBABLY NAIL A TRAIN CAR GOING BY ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE……IF THERE WAS A TRAIN GOING BY THAT IS

It was only 9:30 and I knew if we went home too early it would only make for a longer day in the long run so Pheebs and I headed out to the end of Ghost Town Road for a walk around one of the old cemeteries but not the older pioneer one.  I have taken a lot of photos in the Congress Cemetery over the past 5 winters but I always seem to notice new things I hadn’t seen before each time I go. I WILL HAVE THE SECOND HALF OF THIS MORNING’S CEMETERY PHOTOS IN THURSDAY’S POST

We slipped over to see our friends John (Sarge) and Jackie King this afternoon but Jackie had gone to town.  John and a retired mechanic friend of his were busy trying to get John’s 1953 Hudson Hornet running.  John had trustingly taken his Hudson to a company in Phoenix earlier this year to have it restored but the company suddenly folded up and to make a long story short John finally got his Hudson back stripped of paint and in pieces.  It’s a big project for him now trying to put his beloved Hudson back together.  Today John and his friend who’s name I have forgotten were working on getting the engine to run.  By the time we left they weren’t having much luck.  We first met John and Jackie back in January of 2009 and you can see their beige and green 53 Hudson the way it used to look before the restoration place totally messed it up. Sometimes words just seem to fly off my keyboard with the greatest of ease and other times I sit here for the longest periods of time staring at a blank screen with an even blanker mind.  The harder I try to un-blank myself the more blanker I seem to get.  Took me half an hour to put this simple paragraph togehter.  I think I better go lay down now……………..

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A Few Ways To Confuse Santa At Christmas::

- Instead of milk and cookies, leave him a salad, and a note explaining that you think he could stand to lose a few pounds.
- While he's in the house, go find his sleigh and write him a speeding ticket.
- Leave him a note, explaining that you've gone away for the holidays. Ask if he would mind watering your plants.
- Leave a note by the telephone, telling Santa that Mrs. Claus called and wanted to remind him to pick up some milk and a loaf of bread on his way home.
- Leave Santa a note, explaining that you've moved. Include a map with unclear and hard-to-read directions to your new house.
- Instead of ornaments, decorate your tree with Easter eggs. Dress up like the Easter Bunny. Wait for Santa to come and then say, "This neighborhood ain't big enough for the both of us."

The judge asked the defendant what he was charged with.  "Doing my Christmas shopping early," was the reply.  "That’s not illegal!. How early were you shopping?"  "Before the store was open."

TODAY WE PASSED OUR LAST INSPECTION HURDLE AND IT TOOK PLACE UNDER GROUND

DSC_0017

The prospective buyer of our house is a Wickenburg fella by the name of Tony and Tony was the very first person along with his sister Mary and a niece to look at our house last February when we first put it on the market.  He really liked it and has kept in touch with us ever since.  Emailing us several times in mid October wondering when we would be back in Congress we knew it was important for us to get here soon as we could.  When I blogged in Florida that we had some pressing business to take care of in Congress, that’s what it was……………

KELLY AND I CARRIED EVERY ONE OF THOSE WHITE ROCKS AND STONES HOME FROM OUR MORNING WALKS IN THE DESERT

DSC_0016Tony drove out to the house this morning and we went over some paperwork then I drove him around the area showing him where things were such as the Medical Center, Library, and dump facilities just north of town.  We stopped at the Post Office where Tony registered for a post office box.  Next it was the water company where he signed up for Congress water.  Tony likes to get out with his metal detector so I drove him out to the end of Ghost Town Road where the old original town of Congress once stood back in the late 1800’s.  Still things to be found out there and that area should keep Tony busy with his hobby for awhile.  Couple old cemeteries too and he told me that’s where his sister will probably plant him some day.  I like a fella with serious sense of humor:))DSC_0001

Back to the house we sat and chatted on the front porch for a bit before Tony headed back to Wickenburg.  We had one final inspection hurdle left and about 3 this afternoon a big nice looking truck pulled into our driveway.  Nicest looking ‘Honey Wagon’ I’ve ever seen.  It was ‘Rob’s Pumping’ and he was here to inspect our septic tank and pump it if necessary.  This would be the final document left for our house sale to move forward.  Have to say right up front what a nice young fella this guy was.  Explained everything he was doing and how septic systems work.  I couldn’t help but notice the big change in procedure from the last time we saw that tank inspected by a different company back in March of 2012 when we first bought the house.  Much newer technology involved now with cameras and an assortment of other electronic equipment beeping and buzzing as he located lines etc.  He said the tank did not need pumping so that saved us over $300 right there.  Also said our septic system was in great shape with no problems.  Another huge sigh of relief on our part for sure.DSC_0039

Next step in our pending house sale is to wait now for the Pioneer Title Company to call us telling us what the next step is.  One thing I can tell you is that we are finally coming down to the wire and our days in Congress Arizona are running out.  Keep in mind I am way out on a limb here again because the house sale is not final yet.  I had really intended not to say anything about this whole house sale thing again but the lid Kelly put on me seems to have developed so many holes in it I haven’t been able to do what I had intended to do……………….DSC_0016

GROANER’S CORNER:(( Three men die in a car accident Christmas Eve. They all find themselves at the pearly gates waiting to enter Heaven. On entering they must present something related to or associated with Christmas.  The first man searches his pockets and finds mistletoe, so he is allowed in.  The second man presents a candy cane, so he is also allowed in.The third man pulls out a pair of stockings.  Confused at this last gesture, St. Peter asks, "How do these represent Christmas?"  "They're Carol's."

Q. What do you get if you cross Santa with a detective ?
A. Santa Clues!

------------------

One Christmas, Joe and Peter built a skating rink in the middle of a field. A shepherd leading his flock decided to take a shortcut across the rink. The sheep, however, were afraid of the ice and wouldn't cross it. Desperate, the shepherd began tugging them to the other side.  'Look at that, 'remarked Peter to Joe, 'That guy is trying to pull the wool over our ice!'
