HO-HUM, ANOTHER DAY WORKING IN THE YARD

DSC_3585

LOTS OF GOLDFISH IN THE LITTLE POND NOT FAR FROM OUR PLACE THIS MORNING

Our 70 degree temperatures have literally been beating our snow banks into water.  Thank you big temperature guy:))

MY FIRST LOAD OF THE YEAR FOR OUR PARK'S LANDFILL SITE

Don’t want to bore everybody with another Spring clean up day but that is exactly what my entire day consisted of, & will consist of for a fair few days more until I’ve got things ship shape for another year.  Nice to be outside & productively busy.

SO GREAT TO HAVE A PLACE TO TAKE OUR YARD WASTE...BEEN HAULING STUFF TO THIS SPOT FOR ABOUT EIGHT & A HALF YEARS NOW....THAT IS A VERY LONG TIME FOR AL TO LIVE IN ONE PLACE!!

I remember one morning about a month or so ago when, for whatever reason, our Motor Home door would not open from the inside.  Began to feel like we were locked in our own rig, but after about 30 seconds we were able to get the door open & all was well.  Still don’t know why the door would not unlock but what if it hadn’t opened!!  Check out what JIM & SANDIE had to do when they recently became ‘trapped’ in their own RV.

WITH MY FLASHLIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT I WAS ABLE TO FIND A COUPLE SMALL 'PEEPER' FROGS AROUND THE EDGE OF OUR LITTLE FROG POND

We welcome Pennie from Full-time RVers as our latest blog supporter.  A big thank you from the Bayfield Bunch:))

I liked BIG DAWG & FREEWAY'S post this morning about, ‘Words.’  Liked the saying at the end of the post so have included it at the bottom of my posts for awhile.  I particularly liked Sue’s line in her opening paragraph that said, “I wonder if the words were put together in a different way would they be ‘taken in a different’ manner???”  My short answer to Sue’s question is a resounding, yes!!  I may post a longer answer about my views on all that sometime in the future.

SPRING VIOLETS IN OUR NEIGHBOR'S GRASS

GROANER’S CORNER:((   A mechanic was removing the cylinder heads from the motor of a car, when he spotted a world-famous heart surgeon in his shop. The
heart surgeon was standing off to the side, waiting for the service manager to come take a look at his car. The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hello Doctor, please come on over here for a minute."
The famous surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So doctor, look at this.  I also open hearts, take valves out, grind 'em, put in new parts, and when I finish this will work just like a new one. So how come you get the really big money, when you and I are doing basically the same work?" The doctor smiled, leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic
"Try doing it with the engine running!"

And this is why I like the simplicity of our little Jeep....... Willy's Jeep

THIS MORNING WE WERE HAILED ON & BY AFTERNOON IT WAS +70 FAHRENHEIT & SUNNY:))

DSC_0003

HAIL STONES BEGIN FALLING FROM THE SKY

The skies darkened this morning as an ominous weather front approached us from the West.  All our outside light sensitive night lights came on & the air became still.  A few raindrops, & then a few more.....a bit heavier.

DSC_0007

NOPE, NOT TAPIOCA PUDDING.....HAIL STONES!!

Within minutes we were being pounded by a hail storm!!  We have a steel roof on our place & you can imagine what kind of a noise that sets up inside here.  I could see the pea size hail stones bouncing off our Motor Home out in the driveway.  Normally no problem but with a couple solar panels up there I worry about that.  The hail lasted about 5 minutes & the hailstones did not get bigger than pea size so the panels survived.  Temps dropped so quick we had a slight fog set in briefly.  Good thing we were not further inland where they were clobbered by golf ball size stones in greater volumes.  By mid afternoon our temps reached into the low 70's under sunny skies.  By the way, in my world I still use the Fahrenheit scale & it's still miles for me & not kilometers!!

HAIL STONES  BOUNCING OFF OUR SOLAR PANELS
Some readers may remember back in February when I blogged about Kelly’s rather flamboyant ex Brother-In-Law, Doctor Dave, putting together a reality show about himself down in Manchester Tennessee.  That post is here & the paragraph about DOCTOR DAVE can be found near the end of the post.  Well, here’s the update…. Filming has continued & they premiered the show in a Manchester Theater a couple nights ago.   WHO'S WHO MAGAZINE wrote an article about Doctor Dave and you can see Doctor Dave’s DOC STAR site here.   Now, not being any kind of a reality show fan whatsoever I will have to take a back seat on this one & reserve my judgment.  Just thought maybe some readers out there might be interested.  Kelly’s Son-In-Law, Bradley Shende from Vancouver British Columbia who is associated with CTV out there is involved on the filming production end of things so that side of it does carry some interest for me.  I will keep you updated & it remains to be seen whether any of the major television networks will pick up the series.

People have asked from time to time where I find all the material for Groaner’s Corner.  Well, that’s an easy one to answer because I find that stuff in the exact same location that everybody else finds everything they want to know about anything worth knowing about….the Internet:))  And even if nothing worth knowing about is even worth not knowing about, you can find it anyway, anytime….on the Internet!!

A SLIGHT FOG ROLLED IN & NOTICE THE TOP BROKEN OFF THE PINE TREE IN THE CENTER FROM THE WINTER'S HEAVY SNOWS

Sure looks like some of the Arizona folks are having themselves some mighty bad winter weather down there.  Reader Phil sent me a photo yesterday of Sedona looking like one of those snowy Christmas Cards scenes.  Whitney, near Gleason Arizona was expecting 50 mph winds today with snow & late migrating RV Snow Birds in Mesa Arizona are shivering in the cold.  Bad storms across the Mid West tells us we might just have made it home at the right time after all a few weeks ago.

DSC_0004

A LOT OF WATER FELL OUT OF THE SKY THIS MORNING IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME & NO, THAT DOGHOUSE IN THE BACKGROUND IS NOT FOR OUR DOGS, IT'S OCCASIONALLY FOR ME!!

Following our return at the end of March I had mentioned about hustling across the midwest each year on our return because of the unpredictable weather in that part of the States.  RETIRED ROD near Kansas City commented that, “But we live here in the midwest all year where you are so worried about the storms. We haven't had any damage to our homes or vehicles in many many years, so perhaps it is more what you are used to and comfortable with.”  A short while later folks in the Kansas City area, including Rod, got beat up pretty bad in a damaging hailstorm.  You can see why it is so very important every time to ‘touch wood’ after saying things sometimes:))
 DSC_0008

OH OH, WHAT'S THAT BIG NOISE ON THE ROOF!!

It was a month ago today that we toured the Beverly & Jim Rogers Cowboy Museum in Lone Pine California.  Click here....MY POST FOR THAT TOUR.  There was a lot of cowboy movie memorabilia there & some of it belonged to Roy Rogers.  The official ROY ROGERS MUSEUM closed last summer in Branson Missouri fetching $2.9 million dollars.  Thought it was kind of interesting seeing all the things auctioned off at Christies & how much a lot of Roy & Dale's stuff sold for.  The 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep known as Nellybelle and used on Roy and Dale's TV show, fetched $116,500.

SPRING IS BREAKING OUT ALL OVER:))

DSC_3565

AND ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR OUR MORNING WALK TAKES US BY A PAIR OF CANADA GEESE ON GOLDEN POND NEARBY

Turned out to be a very much most mighty fine Spring day.  Bright sunny sky’s with temps in the mid 50’s here beside one of the largest fresh water lakes in the entire world…….LAKE HURON.

Majority of my day was spent on yard work again & the muscle stiffness is feeling great.  Energy levels are holding well.  All bird feeders are up & we already have Red Wing Blackbirds & a pair of Cardinals coming in.  I can hear Blue Jays in the tall pine trees overhead & we have Juncos on the ground with Nut Hatches flitting between the feeders.  Also an assortment of Sparrow like birds including Black Cap Chickadees.  And of course lots of Robins.  Oh, the Turkey Vultures are back for another season too, roosting in the tall pine trees near by.  And, the Squirrels have already dumped one bird feeder.  Yes, another season of Squirrel wars has already kicked off!!

DSC_3566 <<< WOODPECKER'S HAVE BEEN BUSY ALONG OUR MORNING WALKING TRAIL
I have never been one of those people who have ever really won anything in my life except a Twist contest once back in the early 60’s.  (yes I know I have mentioned that a couple dozen times before but it’s the only claim to fame I have)  Guess my never winning anything is due to the fact I very rarely enter contest thingys so you can imagine my surprise this morning when I found out I had unknowingly won something.   What!!  And no, it wasn’t one of those sleazy online internet scams either.  Check out BIG DAWG & FREEWAY:))

JOE & NANCY have just wrapped up a great 6 days of touring around in their Jeep through the Grand Canyon National Park.  Joe’s got lots of photos too:))  Meanwhile, RUSS & NANCY are hunkered down somewhere north of Bishop California in bad winter driving conditions.  Weather’s better over near Oatman where JIM & SANDY have been checking out some stretches of old historic Route 66.  Looks like the only traffic they are encountering along the way are wayward Burrows:))  MIKE & JANNA made it back to Big Timber Montana & I sure know how Janna feels about being home to long hot showers, big comfy chairs & lots of kitchen space again.  I like lots of room in the kitchen myself when I’m fixin up my peanut butter & honey sandwiches…..10-4:))

DSC_3563
Our rig still needs a major clean up but that will have to wait until we have the outside water turned on & all the yard work is caught up.  Always kinda feel sorry for our home on wheels when I look out the window & see it sitting there quiet & alone now.  For 5 months it took us wherever we wanted to go, kept us warm on cold nights, cool on hot days, kept our food refrigerated & gave us heat to warm it up.  Provided us with comfy beds & chairs, great music & fine flat screen TV viewing.  Engine ran great & aside from a slight hydraulic leveler problem & a main slide annoyance for awhile the rig looked after us real darn good again this past winter.  From the very minute we get home in the Spring we just abandon her every time to sit alone for months on end all by herself out there under the Pine trees.  Ya know, it makes a feller kinda sad to treat an old friend that way:((

A couple comments on last night’s photo about the guy with no pants on.  I’m sure anyone who has been to Quartzsite Arizona either knows or knows about this fella.  He is Quartzsite’s NAKED BOOKSELLER & folks come from far & wide to browse his large inventory of books & related material.  I think some actually come to browse the naked bookseller himself.  This man has quite a history & his name is Paul Winer.” It is reported that Paul has a very high IQ, was an actor in Hollywood, one of the 1rst Chippendale dancers, is an accomplished musician, had a band or two & has a total recall memory.  It was the death of his young daughter Celia that inspired CELIA'S RAINBOW GARDEN in Quartzsite Arizona.  You can read my post & see my photos of the day Kelly & I spent some time there back in February of 2010….OUR VISIT TO CELIA'S RAINBOW GARDEN.
