APPROACHING FLAGSTAFF ARIZONA FROM THE NORTH THIS MORNING
Winds kicked up in the night rattling Kelly’s bedroom awning so bad she was up at 2 closing her slide. She was up again at 4 & our day began on the early side. Pheebs gets so excited when one of us wakes up & this morning was no exception. Soon as she heard Kelly stirring she bounded up onto my bed with her wagging tail almost knocking me right out the other side. We always then have us a big happy tussle & our day was once again off to a rousing start.
THAT CLOUD BANK TOTALLY OBSCURED THE SAN FRANCISCO PEAKS TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGHWAY
Looking at my computer’s weather map I see we just made it to Arizona in time. Rain & possible snow closing in on some of the areas we just traveled through these past number of days. Dropping temps & possible rain for Congress Wednesday but that’s Okay because we plan to simply de-stress for a few days letting our 3 time zone jet-lag induced travels simply drain away before we are on to our next phase of winter activities whatever they may be.
MAKING OUR WAY THROUGH FLAGSTAFF
HORSE SCULPTURE SEEN AT A ROUND-ABOUT IN THE CHINO VALLEY
With the first crack of dawn we rolled out of Cameron Arizona heading south on highway 180. Had an East wind knocking on my driver’s door but it wasn’t much of a problem. We could see darkening skies on the horizon towards Flagstaff & the San Francisco Peaks were totally obscured in dark storm clouds. Figured it was probably snowing up there & by the time we reached Flagstaff we were into rain & fine sleet for a short time. West of Flagstaff we drove out of it & had mostly clouds the rest of our way to Congress where we later had a few light showers.
ROLLING THROUGH THE CHINO VALLEY TOWARDS PRESCOTT AZ
CRUISING ALONG IRON SPRINGS ROAD TOWARDS CONGRESS AZ
COMING INTO A LITTLE BLINK OF A PLACE CALLED SKULL VALLEY
APPROACHING YARNELL
Have to admit it was so nice knowing we had a ‘sticks n bricks’ destination ahead of us after a long tiring journey. Lengthy hot showers, comfy recliners, TV, internet, & lotsa-lotsa space. We arrived shortly before noon & even before going into the house we just took a long walk around our property looking at everything. The yard was in great shape with hardly a weed visible anywhere. Big change from a couple years ago. The property looked great just as we had left it & I was so pleased most of my Cactus plants are doing so well, even some of my Joshua Trees. And my new flower beds were all still basically intact but boy oh boy did the Pack Rats ever make a mess in our shed again. Big clean-up ahead…………
WE BEGIN OUR DECENT OF SEVERAL THOUSAND FEET DOWN THE BREATH TAKING YARNELL HILL INTO CONGRESS LOCATED IN THE SONORAN DESERT BELOW
When we stepped into the house it was like stepping back in time to the end of last March when we closed everything up. Things were exactly as we had left them. No surprises & what a huge relief that was. We are both so weary from our travels it’s for sure going to take us a few days to get our heads back on straight again. But oooohhhhh how nice it is to finally be here:))
