SOME GREAT EGRETS, SOME FIERY COLORS, & RESPONDING TO EMAILS

NICE MORNING FOR A HIKE IN THE HULLETT MARSH

Our nicest weather days of the year are upon us.  The air has a touch of coolness in it while the sun adds it’s warmth.  Much like Arizona weather in the winter.  Pheebs & I were out the door & down the road before 9.  Headed east into the sun with our visors down.  It sometimes takes us a few roads & a few turns to finally get a feel for where we’re going.  And this morning felt like a walk in the HULLETT MARSH.

WE SURPRISED THIS GREAT EGRET WHEN WE TOPPED A SLIGHT RISE

Swinging north a bit we cut back heading west & entered the Marsh on it’s eastern boundary putting the sun behind us.  Knew there might be a chance of seeing some wildlife so it was best to have the morning light behind us.  We got ourselves lucky right away by surprising a couple wading Egrets.

THOUGHT THIS WAS AN OLD GNARLED STUMP UNTIL I LATER ENLARGED IT IN MY PICASA PROGRAM…IT’S AN OLD STEEL FRAME OF SOME SORT…PERSONALLY, I THINK IT IS THE OLD HULLETT SWAMP MONSTER HIMSELF……

No soakers this morning as we both tried hard to keep paws & feet out of the water.  Well feet anyway.  I did see some paws in the water.  Always so nice in the Marsh because it is total nature with just natural flora & fauna all around.  Rarely see another human being in the area except when it’s hunting season & that is not a good time to be anywhere near the Marsh.  Only sounds this morning were that of natures wonders.  How fortunate we are to have these wetlands so near.

From the Hullett Marsh we wandered our way along criss-crossing many country roads just soaking up all the early Autumn scenery.  A couple farmers were taking off some corn already which surprised me.  Seems a little early.   I’d say the beans are about ready to be harvested & I did see metal farm wagons parked at the edges of bean fields ready to roll.  Maybe in the next week or two.  Corn is usually harvested in late October.

Kept my post short & published it early Thursday night mainly because I wanted to take some time to answer emails readers have sent me.  I always think to myself I will remember to answer folks each time & as it turns out I do not.  Over the last couple of weeks I have been going through my 2 email accounts trying to find past emails I had forgotten to respond to.  And find a bunch I did.  I always feel very bad when I have missed someone & especially if they have emailed me with questions about things.  I really need to come up with some kind of fool proof system that keeps those emails in front of me.  Like the old saying goes, ‘out of sight out of mind’.  Oh Dear, it’s not easy being a human:((

MILKWEED PODS ARE OPENING & SPREADING THEIR SEEDS TO THE WIND >>>

Kelly updated my iPod today with the latest pieces of music I have downloaded from iTunes over the summer.  Bet you never heard of any of these groups, ‘TranceGroove’, ‘Intrusion’. ‘Weatherman’‘Groove Catcher’, ‘Milky Globe’, ‘William Aura’, ‘Koop’, ‘Cantoma’, ‘Sorma’, ‘Soul Ballet’, ‘David Darling’, ‘Merge Of Equals’, ‘Lotus’, ‘Jia Peng Fang’, ‘Neo Tropic’, ‘Secret Garden’, ‘Richard Bone’, ‘Naoyuki Onda’, ‘Union Jack’, ‘Blue Skies’, ‘Shao Rong’, ‘Soma Sonic’, ‘Bliss’, ‘Angel Tears’, ‘Kevin Kendle’, ‘Ganga’, ‘Peace Orchestra’, ‘Shastro’ &‘Naoki Kenji’.  Nope didn’t think so.  It’s a whole different kind of music I listen to now these last bunch of years & most folks are probably not familiar with it.  Let’s just say it’s really groovy, really smooth & 95% of it is instrumental electronic.  Ambient New Age:))

Sure am missing those big basement bins we had in our 33’ Damon Class A Motorhome.  It’s turning out to be a bit of a challenge working with about a third of the space this year as we load the Winnebago for this winter’s travels.  No doubt we will have a period of adjustment to contend with on our way west.  What goes where & where goes what.  But it’s called downsizing & I’m sure we will adjust to it as we travel along.  Patience will be the key.

We have splashes of Autumn color here & there & the forests are just beginning to turn in some places.  I’d say our countryside will be ablaze with Mother Natures fiery crimsons, deep burgundies, ochre oranges, & golden yellows in another week or two.  The magic is in the air & oh how fortunate we are to live here where we do.  We get to see nature at it’s artful best in our rural countryside.

KEEPING IT SHORT TONIGHT

SUNSET OVER THE MULE MOUNTAINS FROM McNEAL ARIZONA

Well, at the risk of boring everybody to tears with another blow by blow of what I did all day let's just say I kept myself busy cleaning up & disposing of all the pine branches lying about. Picked up the Jeep from the BAYFIELD GARAGE just after lunch. Nice to know it is mechanically sound again for some more great off roading desert adventures this winter. I think Pheebs & I just might hit the road for a gravel run in the morning cause it's gonna be around 70 & sunny.  By the way, anybody had a round of bad luck lately?  No? Better read DESERT DIVA

ANOTHER BUSY BIG PINE TREE DAY AT OUR HOUSE

DSC_0022

We took the Jeep into the BAYFIELD GARAGE at 8 this morning & it ended up being there all day & should be ready to go sometime Thursday morning. Needed some extra work which I was not surprised about with some of the rough & tumble desert Jeep drives we have been on over the last few years. Universal Joints, Brake rotors, & one drum had to be machined etc. That Jeep has really been good to us so we don't mind spending a few dollars on it.  It’s gotta last me till I’m a hundred & five.

Busied myself after our morning walk with trimming some more small trees & shrubs. A job I should have been doing all along but never kept up with it. No problem, I have a sharp new blade in my Bow Saw & I’m ready to rip. Tree cutter Gord rolled in about 11:30 & the rest of my day was helping with the 2 troublesome pine trees in our back yard. Gord goes up in the big machine, cuts off all the branches & drops them to the ground. My job is picking up all those branches & piling them in our driveway. Had I had the Jeep today I would have just loaded the branches into the utility trailer & hauled everything away. I will do that Thursday when we get the Jeep back. Gord then starts from the top of the stripped pine tree & cuts off 2 & 3 foot sections of trunk & drops them to the ground. So right now the trees are stripped bare & about 20 feet of the tops are off. Gord is going to be away for a few days so the next phase of our tree saga will be using ropes & pulleys to lower the heavier chunks of tree trunks to the ground as they are cut. Maybe next week.  Oh, & I got some living room windows cleaned between hauling pine branches too, put away some more summer lawn ornaments, & put away a couple water hoses for the winter.  I think we got a couple Pheeber walks in there somewhere too:))

Forgot to include a Blog Site for our latest Blog Follower in Tuesday night’s post.  You can find Mary-Pat at BUTTERFLIES & HEART SONGS.  Now here’s another one of those great Gals out there on the road doing it on her own.  I always have the greatest admiration for ladies with this kind of free RVing spirit.

NO THAT IS NOT A BIG WHITE FUZZY CATERPILLAR WITH PHEEBS, IT’S JUST HER LITTLE PAL RASCAL FROM DOWN THE ROAD

I do have to agree with the Guest’s logic in our Shout Box when they say, “If you don't like what Google's doing then don't use it”.  That’s very true & so far I have chosen not to use the Google+ stuff but every once & awhile I get myself in a stew figuring I had better try to catch onto the coat tails of this newer technology before I am left so far behind I’ll wake up one morning & find myself in the dark ages.  I do like some of Google’s stuff so I will just continue to use that which I like & understand.  And I will continue to grumble whenever I attempt to figure out something new.  It’s just my impatient nature:))

SO THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE IN OUR BACKYARD NOW UNTIL GORD COMES BACK TO FINISH TAKING THE REST OF THE TREES DOWN
