A MOVIE DAY IN SIERRA VISTA AND TRAVEL PLANS MAY ALREADY BE AFOOT:))

IMG_2492

AT THE SIERRA VISTA MALL MOVIE THEATER TODAY

Rains began late Saturday evening and continued through the night.  A brief break in the rain drops allowed me to get Pheebs out around 4:30.  She doesn’t like getting wet so for sure it was a lucky break otherwise she would have held it until the rain finally stop.  And stop it if finally did sometime around sunrise.

RAINS FINALLY QUIT LEAVING LOW HANGING CLOUDS SITTING ON THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS

DSC_0002

Well what to do on a rainy day eh.  Well not much I’d say but we did put the morning in banging around on our computers and reading till my eyes fell out on the floor whereupon I had to get down on my hands and knees and feel around for them because I couldn’t see where they had rolled to.

I DON’T HAVE MUCH IN THE WAY OF PHOTOS TONIGHT SO I’LL LEAVE YOU WITH A FEW I TOOK THIS MORNING OF SNOW AND CLOUDS iN AND AROUND THE HUACHUCA MOUNTAINS

Sierra Vista has a 10 screen movie theater in an enclosed mall so after looking at a bunch of ho-hum movies we somehow agreed on ‘Hidden Figures’ Don’t ask me how we agreed upon it, we just somehow did.  At least it was based on a true story and would hopefully not be chocked full of the usual over the top Hollywood mindless violence.  In my opinion Hollywood doesn’t have a good track record at keeping true stories true but what the heck…..what else were we going to do today.  Oh ya bang around on our computers and read till my eyes fall out again.  The Best Buy store was in the same mall as the movie theater and we had something needing to go back to Best Buy anyway so it was off to Sierra Vista 15 minutes away for a 12:50 movie and because it’s billed as an early bird movie the tickets were only $5 each.  Bonus:))

DSC_0009

After a lot hand ringing, hair pulling, angst, head banging and frustration the decision was finally made this morning to take my new Asus computer back to Best Buy for a full refund.  Although a nice computer in many respects it had one major flaw for me that try as we both did we could not correct.  The color was off and had an annoying yellow caste to it and with photography where colors are of prime importance it was just not acceptable for me.  We did find out on-line that some people have had color problems with Asus computers and I of course had to be one of them.

DSC_0006

Kelly really liked the movie ‘Hidden Figures’ and I thought it was, well Okay I guess.  Have to admit I am very hard to please when it comes to movies and I don’t know what kind of movie it would take for me to walk out of a theater and kick my heels up shouting……YES!!

Kelly’s brother Peter is still dealing with a medical issue making any re-scheduling plans for Arizona this winter unlikely.  Had they been able to make it here as originally planned they would have been heading back to Webster New York this coming week-end.  From that point on Kelly and I did not have any further travel plans and figured we would just base it on weather as to where we would go.  I was thinking somewhere in New Mexico we hadn’t been but our experience has been that New Mexico is not as warm as Arizona during the winter months so we’ve pretty much nixed that idea.   And we know the higher elevations of southeastern Arizona where we are now are routinely colder at this time of year.  Warmest place is Yuma of course but do we really want to go that far back out west again.  Decisions, decisions.  Had thought about the Sonoita-Madera Canyon area south of Tucson but checking the weather for next week it’s looking cold and wet same as here where we are.  For the great majority of RV’ers including ourselves the key word is warm and after all that’s one of the big reasons we’re here.  Now I did say ‘warm’ not hot!!   For foot loose and fancy free boon-dockers like ourselves without any binding reservations anywhere or nailed down commitments or responsibilities the answer is simple.  Just move our house to wherever it is warmer weather is at……….Yes indeed travel plans may already be afoot:))

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A six-year-old boy called his mother from his friend Charlie's house and confessed he had broken a lamp when he threw a football in their living room. "But, Mom," he said, brightening, "you don't have to worry about buying another one. Charlie's mother said it was irreplaceable."

10 Commandments of Marriage

Commandment 1.
Marriages are made in heaven. But so again, are thunder and lightning.

Commandment 2.
If you want your spouse to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say, talk in your sleep.

Commandment 3.
Marriage is grand — and divorce is at least 100 grand!

Commandment 4.
Married life is very frustrating. In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.

Commandment 5.
When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing: Either the car is new or the wife is.

Commandment 6.
Marriage is when a man and woman become as one; the trouble starts when they try to decide which one.

Commandment 7.
Before marriage, a man will lie awake all night thinking about something you said. After marriage, he will fall asleep before you finish talking.

Commandment 8.
Every man wants a wife who is beautiful, understanding, economical, and a good cook. But the law allows only one wife.

Commandment 9.
Every woman wants a man who is handsome, understanding, economical and a considerate lover, but again, the law allows only one husband.

Commandment 10.
Man is incomplete until he marries. After that, he is finished.

BIG ARIZONA SKIES BROUGHT US SOME THUNDER AND RAIN THIS AFTERNOON

BIG SKIES OVER THE SAN PEDRO VALLEY TODAY

Looking out our rig’s side window first thing this morning I was happy to see a few sun splashes traveling across the Huachuca Mountains meaning we were not under solid cloud with a threat of rain yet.

Nancy had told us of a place in Sierra Vista where we could dump our tanks, take on fresh water for free and top up our propane tank.  It was located behind the Valero gas station at the intersection of Sierra Vistas busiest intersection.   Knew there would be heavy traffic at that crossroads so we first drove into town with the Jeep to see just exactly how to get into the dump facility.  I wasn’t about to take our 37’ Motorhome through Saturday’s ‘shopping’ traffic not knowing exactly where my 90* right hand turn would be.  Valero is on the northwest corner of that intersection with the RV facilities like water propane, air, and dump station on the north side of the building.  With that all figured out we hustled back out to our rig, parked the Jeep and brought the Motorhome back into Sierra Vista and took care of business.  From there it was back out to our friend’s Nancy and Pat’s place to re-park the Motorhome in a different location on firmer ground……and wait for the rain.

Warm gusty winds picked up coming right at us head on from the south bringing big beautiful cloud formations with them from Mexico.  I could sit in my recliner inside out of the wind and watch them through our Motorhome’s huge windshield.

Kelly headed off into Sierra Vista to do a bit of browsing around 2 so Pheebs and I vegged out for the remainder of the afternoon.  Noticed a few rain drops on the windshield shortly before 3.  But only a few.

WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF BISBEE OVER THERE IN THE MULE MOUNTAINS PICKS ITSELF UP A BIT OF SNOW TONIGHT

DSC_0004-001

It was 4:40 when I heard the first rumble of thunder as a huge passing rain cloud dumped it’s whole load of water on us.  Standing in the rig’s open door I at the same time watched dapples of sunlight dragging themselves up the San Pedro Valley.  So beautiful to watch Nature putting on such a grand show today.  Could feel the temperature dropping so there may be snow on the mountain peaks by morning.  The winds finally abated by late afternoon.

Kelly finally made it back to the rig about 5:30 with a few things from the Thrift store despite cruising through Dillard's, Ross’s and Marshalls.  She said there was no rain in Sierra Vista and she never heard any thunder.  So there ya go………..

What do cannibals eat for dessert? Chocolate covered aunts......

What do cannibals make out of politicians? Baloney sandwiches......

THE BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND MEN OFTEN GO AWRY…..AND SO THEY DID

DSC_0003

THURSDAY NIGHT’S MOONLIT CLOUDS

A phone call came from Kelly’s brother Peter this morning informing us they had to cancel their Arizona travel plans due to an unexpected last minute medical problem.  Not life threatening but uncomfortable enough for them to reluctantly make the decision to stay close to home for the time being.  They had been due to land in Phoenix this morning then head on down to Sierra Vista for a week or so.

We had planned to come to this area at some point anyway, just not at this time though so we’re kind of scrambling around right now trying to re-shape our pile of Jello-O into some kind of new travel plans.  We may boon-dock ourselves around this area for a awhile or we may head off to somewhere entirely different.  We’ll see how our thought processes shake out over the next few days.

Decided not to do our rig’s tanks, water and propane this morning and may take care of that early Saturday.  With rain predicted for the area we’re not really sure what our plans are for the next couple days.DSC_0011

Cold winds this morning with mainly cloudy skies.  Not the kind of weather that excites me much and the day just kinda petered out from there.  But we did manage breakfast in Bisbee’s Warren district at the ‘Mornings Cafe’ on Arizona Street and following that we took ourselves for a long drive over to the east side of the Mule Mountains touching base with a few old memories in the Elfrida area.  Couldn’t seem to get myself into photo mode today except for a few drive-by photos around Warren and that was about it.   We do  plan on returning to Bisbee again before we depart the area at some point.

There was once a football game between the big animals and the little animals. The big animals were crushing the little animals and at half-time, the coach made a passionate speech to rally the little animals.  At the start of the second half the big animals had the ball. The first play, the elephant got stopped for no gain. The second play, the rhino was stopped for no gain. On third down, the hippo was thrown for a 5 yard loss.  The defense huddled around the coach and he asked excitedly, "Who stopped the elephant?"  "I did," said the centipede.  "Who stopped the rhino?"  "Uh, that was me too," said the centipede.  "And how about the hippo?  Who hit him for a 5 yard loss?"  "Well, that was me as well," said the centipede.  "So where were you during the first half?" demanded the coach.  "Well," said the centipede, "I was tying up all my shoes."
