PLEASANTLY RE-DISCOVERING LAST SUMMER’S YARD PROJECTS:))

CHIPMUNK TODAY ON OUR SOON TO BE FLOWING FRONT YARD FROG POND WATERFALL

Sunshine, blue skies and upper 30’s temperatures had me outside hauling more summer things out of the shed.  I actually love this time of year on nice days like this.

Richard and Gayle our long time friends and neighbors invited us over for coffee this morning so we spent an enjoyable 3 hours getting ourselves all caught up on things.

For nearly two freezing weeks now looking out our living room window I have been bothered to see our salt encrusted Motorhome sitting there with no way to get that rust inducing salt washed off.  This afternoon with milder temperatures upon us I crawled under our front deck and turned our outside water on, hooked up the hoses, and fired up our power washer.  Half an hour later I had most of that highly corrosive road salt washed off the rig both on the outside and underneath.  Surprisingly even with snow still on the ground and 38F temperatures my wet hands did not get cold at all.

I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING OUR RIG ALL CLEANED UP AND LOOKING GOOD AGAIN

JUST HATE SEEING THAT ROAD SALT ON OUR RIG

It’s been kinda fun these past few days as I putter about outside re-discovering things around the yard I had done last summer and mostly forgot about.  Not totally forgot about but having not thought about them for a few months I am now enjoying my newly remembered ongoing projects.  Best part is looking at things with even more new ideas and changes in mind.  Gee I like when that happens.

Thought this was an exceptionally well done Nature video.  It’s not long and be sure to have your ‘sound’ on.  Full screen would be an added advantage too.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  There were two evil brothers. They were rich and used their money to keep their ways from the public eye. They even attended the same church and looked to be perfect Christians.  Then, their pastor retired and a new one was hired. Not only could he see right through the brothers' deception, but he also spoke well and true, and the church started to swell in numbers.  A fundraising campaign was started to build a new assembly.  All of a sudden, one of the brothers died. The remaining brother sought out the new pastor the day before the funeral and handed him a check for the amount needed to finish paying for the new building.
"I have only one condition," he said. "At his funeral, you must say my brother was a saint."
The pastor gave his word and deposited the check.  The next day at the funeral, the pastor did not hold back. "He was an evil man," he said. "He cheated on his wife and abused his family." After going on in this vein for a small time, he concluded with, "But, compared to his brother, he was a saint."

A wealthy investor walked into a bank and said to the bank manager, "I would like to speak with Mr. Reginald Jones, who I understand is a tried and trusted employee of yours." The banker said, "Yes he certainly was trusted. And he will be tried as soon as we catch him."

Dave: I got this great new hearing aid the other day. Mary: Are you wearing it now? Dave: Yup. Cost me four thousand dollars, but it's top of the line. Mary: Wow! What kind is it? Dave: Twelve-thirty

TURNED OUT TO BE A BLUE JAY KIND OF DAY

DSC_0009

ABOUT THE ONLY PHOTOS I WAS ABLE TO SNAG TODAY WERE BLUE JAYS

A heavy blanket of clouds moved in overnight leaving us with a very light dusting of snow this morning.  Our temperatures are hovering at and just above the freezing mark.  Way better than a week ago at this time.  I think we hit 35F today.

A small correction to my Friday’s blurb about Starbucks in Bayfield.  I said Starbuck’s in Michaels Pharmacy had a counter and stools.  Counter part was correct but there are no stools.  Kelly said the counter has hot coffee thermoses and you get a cup and serve yourself so it is mainly a take-out service.  I have since corrected my Friday post.

With it feeling cold and damp outside I spent most of my day in our sunroom reading.  It was just kind of one of those Okay inside days.  Kelly surprised me with a nice hot cup of hot chocolate and my mind couldn’t get anywhere near remembering the last time I ever had a cup of hot chocolate.

They are calling it Flowergeddon In Borrego Springs and both Kelly and I are so glad we are not there.   Hordes of people, traffic chaos with local business’s being over run.  Click on the above link to see what is happening there at the moment.  Thanks for that head’s up Dave:))

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A resident in a seaside hotel breakfast room called the head waiter to his table. "I want two boiled eggs, one of them so undercooked it's runny, and the other so overcooked, it's tough and hard to eat. Also, give me some grilled bacon that has been left on the plate to get cold; burnt toast that crumbles away as soon as you touch it with a knife; butter straight from the deep freeze so that it's impossible to spread; and a pot of very weak coffee, luke-warm."  "That's a complicated order, Sir," said the bewildered waiter. "It might be quite difficult to prepare."  The guest replied, "Oh? But that's what I got yesterday!!"

‘STARBUCKS’ IN BAYFIELD…..WHAT!!!!

PHEEBS ENJOYS A NICE SPRING DAY WHILE HELPING ME WITH THE YARD CLEAN-UP
I know Mother Nature is much better than I at removing snow and over the next few days I’m sure she will work away at doing just that.  But me being the impatient fellow I am I planted myself on the end of my snow shovel first thing this morning and headed out into the front yard to help her out and re-arrange the snow anyway.

GOING TO NEED SOME SERIOUSLY WARM AIR AND SUNSHINE TO GET THIS SHADED FROG POND OUT OF HIBERNATION
Knowing Saturday may be a crummy weather day and because the sun was shining this morning I took Pheebs for a short snort in the Jeep.  A couple nearby country roads and we were back home within the hour.  Only photo I took was the one below.

THURSDAY MORNING THIS FARMER’S FIELD WAS COVERED IN SNOW AND THIS MORNING IT WAS NEARLY BARE
To the tune of melting snow dripping from our roof I decided it might be a fine time to start hauling out our summer yard stuff so that’s what I did.  Not all of it mind you but I did make a start.  A nice physiological boost to these recent bitter cold winter days:))

<<< GOT ME A GOOD START AT HAULING A BUNCH OF YARD STUFF OUT OF ONE OF OUR SHEDS
A phone call from the Maitland Valley Medical Center a couple days ago said a couple tests I had done last week came back A-OK.  So far so good.  This coming Monday I have an appointment with a Doctor in Goderich whom I have never met.  We’ll see how that goes and what it entails.

HAPPY TO SEE ALL THE SNOW HAS MELTED OFF OUR FRONT PORCH DECK
Unless we are on the road traveling it is very rare for Kelly and I to go out to eat anywhere but late this afternoon we made an exception.  We had heard good things about the Out Of The Blue Fish & Seafood Market on the east side of highway 21 across from Clan Gregor Square in Bayfield.  As readers well know I am not a seafood person but I do generally like Fish & Chips and that is what we had.  Kelly chose Pickerel and I chose White Fish.  Orders come in either small or large portions and we both chose the smaller size and it’s good we did because the fish portions are HUGE.  I ate half my fish and was stuffed to the gills. (did ya get the play on words there)  Kelly did better than I did but we both still took home a generous portion of our supper.  Cole slaw was good as well as the home cut fries.  This is a true ‘fresh fish market’. The husband of the lady who runs it owns one of the fishing boats docked in the Bayfield harbor.

NO WIMPY LITTLE PIECES OF FISH IN THIS PLACE…..’HUGE’
A couple days ago Kelly popped into her Doctor’s office at Michaels Pharmacy here in Bayfield to check on her latest blood tests and came home saying there was a Starbucks in Michael's Pharmacy.  What!!!!  A Starbucks coffee shop in Bayfield, how was that possible??  Bayfield doesn’t even have a traffic light anywhere and is hardly big enough for a Starbucks but when we drove in and around there today there was the big Starbuck poster in the Pharmacy window.  Kelly said they have a counter with hot coffee thermoses and you get a cup and serve yourself so it is mainly a take-out service.  I wish Starbucks well but why couldn’t that have been a Tim Hortons I thought to myself.

WOULD YOU BELIEVE THERE IS ACTUALLY A ‘STARBUCKS’ IN THERE

WELL THERE YA GO EH

KELLY READS A NOTE ON THE ‘SUBWAY’ DOOR
Another reason for driving into the small Plaza across from the Bayfield Garage was to check on the Subway Sandwich Shop.  Pheebs and I had popped in there a few days ago and a big sign in the door said ‘CLOSED’.  Kelly got out to read a note on the door which stated they were closed for the winter but would be re-opening in the Spring.  Whewww, big sigh of relief there.  Wouldn’t want Pheebs and I missing out on our Tuna Subs now would we:))
