I WOKE UP LIKE A GRUMPY OLD BEAR THIS MORNING

DSC_0012

I don’t know why it is but it just is and it was the way it was this morning when I woke up feeling like a grumpy old Bear about 6 minutes out of hibernation.  I’ve written about this a few times before and I still don’t have any perfectly good logical reason why this occurs sometimes.  It just does and it pretty much remained with me for the rest of day.

OUR MORNING GLORIES ARE FINALLY BLOOMING

Clear sunny skies as Pheebs and I took our usual drive to Goderich and back.  We were home before 10 and I was able to get some yard maintenance done before the heat built up.  Must be due to our rainy Spring that Mosquitos are so bad this year.  Seems every time I go out my arms are swinging like a windmill in a force 9 hurricane!!

Seeings how our old coffee pot was gurgling and struggling to make a pot of morning coffee in less than 3 days Kelly opted for a new Braun which was delivered by Fed-Ex a few days ago.  She had it figured out pretty quick but had a hard time setting the clock timer on it.  Try as she did she could not get the 10:28 time to change.  Anybody know why yet:))  Yep, if you have had this happen to you I can see the smile on your face right from here.  She finally realized she had not taken the plastic 10:68 sticker off the digital clock face.  It is good for me to see these kind of things happen to other people:))))))

Ever had your ‘socks blessed off’?  Fellow friend and RV Blogger Betty did.  Betty’s husband Joe passed away 9 months ago but she is still holding things together.  Some days better than others.  We met Betty and Joe at the first Bloggerfest a few years ago in Quartzsite Arizona.  The Journey Continues.  And don’t forget about our friends and RV Bloggers Merikay and Craig who still have not yet some how managed to get themselves totally lost in that big place called Alaska.

Kelly’s daughter Sabra with her husband Derek and two boys Keenan and Langdon rolled in about 6:30.  They had arrived in the area earlier but spent the day on Grand Bend’s beach.

The beach gang quickly changed clothes in the Motorhome and along with Kelly all headed off to THE DOCKS for supper.  I stayed home with Pheebs.  Any time I can get out of having to go where there are crowds of noisy people I do so.  And that includes packed eateries on week-ends for sure.  I rustled up Pheebs and I some chicken noodle soup and toast.  We was happy guys:))

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Jacob, age 92, and Rebecca, age 89, living in Florida, are all excited about their decision to get married. They go for a stroll to discuss the wedding, and on the way they pass a drugstore. Jacob suggests they go in.
Jacob addresses the man behind the counter: Are you the owner? The pharmacist answers, Yes.
Jacob: Were about to get married. Do you sell heart medication? Pharmacist: Of course we do.
Jacob: How about medicine for circulation?
Pharmacist: All kinds.  Jacob: Medicine for rheumatism and scoliosis?  Pharmacist: Definitely.  Jacob: Medicine for memory problems, arthritis, jaundice?
Pharmacist: Yes, a large variety. The works.
Jacob: What about vitamins, sleeping pills, Geritol, antidotes for Parkinsons disease?
Pharmacist: Absolutely.  Jacob: You sell wheelchairs and walkers?  Pharmacist: All speeds and sizes.  Jacob: Okay then we would like to use this store as our Bridal Registry.

A gentleman entered a busy florist shop that displayed a large sign that read "Say It With Flowers."   "Wrap up one rose," he told the florist. "Only one?" the florist asked.   "Just one," the customer replied. "I'm a man of few words."

A woman answered her front door and found Little Johnny and Billy holding a list. "Lady," Johnny explained, "we are on a scavenger hunt, and we still need three grains of wheat, a pork chop bone and a piece of used carbon paper to earn a dollar." "Wow," the woman replied. "Who sent you on such a challenging hunt?" "Our baby-sitter's boyfriend."

DROVE ABOUT 120 MILES TODAY BUT DID WE SEE WHAT WE SET OUT TO SEE……………..

DSC_2350

Thursday night while putting my blog together Kelly mentioned there was a weather warning out for our area.  Checked our weather site’s radar and sure enough there were a couple storm cells coming across the lake and they had Bayfield in their sights.  Leaving Pheebs at home I grabbed my camera and headed for Bayfield's Pioneer Park overlooking Lake Huron in the hopes of catching some big lightning packed storm clouds rolling in but it was a bust.  Arriving at the cliff top I could see dark clouds to the north and new the storm or what was left of it had missed us.  That was that, took a few photos and came home with maybe a dozen rain drops on the windshield.

A COUPLE PEOPLE OUT ON BAYFIELD’S SOUTH PIER

A few days ago Kelly noticed something on Facebook she thought might be of interest to me.  In conjunction with Canada's 150th birthday celebrations a group of pilots and their 5 World War 1 replica bi-plane aircraft were going to be in our area Friday.  Rather than me trying to explain who these pilots are, what they have done in France and what they are now doing in Canada I will refer you to this link, Vimy Flight: Birth Of A Nation.  On their cross Canada tour the pilots and their planes plus support crew were to be at the Kincardine Airport Thursday with a viewing of the airplanes between 4 and 6 pm.  I've always had an interest in airplanes so figured I would drive up to Kincardine Thursday afternoon and take some photos of the planes.  Well it never happened, why.....I totally forgot about it.  Not to be discouraged or deterred I planned to drive to Kincardine this morning and maybe see the planes before they took off for their next itinerary stop in London Ontario.

BRIGHTER SKIES LOOKING ALONG THE SHORELINE TO THE SOUTHWEST

Overnight rains again and we woke up to another overcast sultry day.  The thought did cross my mind that maybe those small open cockpit planes may not be able to take off today.  Had I had the forethought to pursue that passing thought into a practical thought I may have thought about calling the Kincardine airport with a question or two.  Of course that would have involved using a telephone and.................well you know.  Pheebs and I were in the Jeep early and off we went.  The airplanes were scheduled to land in London at 1 pm today so my questionable logic told me the planes might take off sometime around 10:30 or 11.  Kincardine is 53 miles north of Bayfield and seeings how it was 8 am when we left home I knew we had plenty of time to get there.

AN OLD HOUSE ALONG THE WAY TODAY

Headed east to Clinton and picked up a coffee and muffin at Hortons then ambled off in a northwesterly direction on the back roads for Kincardine.  Still a heavy cloud cover and we had a few drops of rain on the windshield.  The overnight rain front had brought in much cooler air and at one point I had to put a touch of heat on in the Jeep.  Now keep in mind Pheebs likes to have her passenger window down and this morning was no exception despite the cooler air swirling in.  By the time we reached Auburn Ontario our windshield wipers were earning their keep.  I was beginning to very much in doubt the 5 World War 1 aircraft would be flying today but no matter we remained on course and on time for the Kincardine Airport.

‘OKAY THAT’S A PROMISE PHEEBS’

Driving along today I got to thinking about a comment in my Thursday blog regarding our BLT incident and when The Quiltin' Library Lady said ‘Egg?? Thought you said BLT? Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich’ I thought to myself, ‘Hey wait a minute’ she’s right, what was an egg doing in my BLT and now that I think about it what was cheese doing in it as well.  Yes the lettuce and bacon were there for sure but I don’t remember tasting a tomato.  I think somebody in McD’s looking out the window saw it was me and slapped a slippery egg into my sandwich perfectly knowing what the results would be.  Darn kids!!

Traveling north of Kincardine on highway 21 I soon caught sight of the small local Airport ahead and to the left of the highway.  Saw some yellow vehicles with blinking lights out on the runway but no aircraft in sight.  They probably have them inside a hangar out of the weather I thought.  Only a few vehicles in the tiny parking lot as I walked into a small terminal building to see if and when the planes would be taking off for London.  "What planes" said one of two fellas inside.  The other chap said the airplanes were still in hangers in Owen Sound Ontario some 45 miles northeast of Kincardine.  In other words the aircraft had never even made it to the Kincardine airport in the first place.   The cross Canada tour right now is temporarily grounded by weather.  Oh well I thought to myself at least Pheebs and I got out to see some new scenery this morning.  So there ya go…….the advantages of not making phone calls:))  By the way these replica World War 1 planes were built in British Columbia.  BC Replica World War 1 Planes Land in France.

ONLY AIRPLANE WE SAW WAS THIS ONE AND IT DIDN’T LOOK LIKE IT WAS GOING ANYWHERE ANY TIME SOON

Not in a big hurry to head straight home we took our time and meandered along some back roads following Lake Huron’s shoreline for awhile.  Made it all worthwhile by taking a few photos along the way.  By the time we reached Goderich just before noon we had worked ourselves up quite an appetite so stopped at the Subway Shoppe and grabbed ourselves a 6 inch Tuna Sub.  Amazingly enough I learned a long time ago not to try driving while eating a very messy Sub with tuna, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, green peppers, onions, sweet onion sauce plus salt and pepper.  That sweet onion sauce can sure gum up the works if it leaks out of the whole-wheat bun supposedly holding everything together.  Anyway we sat in the parking lot and carefully knocked off the Sub without getting anything dribbled or dropped onto either one of us.  Half an hour later we were home safe and sound with no change of clothes or fur necessary.

PROBABLY WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A HOME ALONG HERE JUST SOUTH OF KINARDINE FACING THE LAKE

Sure is nice having much cooler weather upon us compared to a few days ago.  All we need now is some sunshine and by the looks of it we may be getting some Saturday and that is not all we are getting.  Company coming again and this time it is Kelly's daughter Sabra with her husband Derek and two boys Keenan and Langdon.  They will be staying a night in our Motorhome.

YEP WE SURE DO LOVE OUR TUNA SUBS:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A young couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the husband sarcastically asked, "Are they relatives of yours?" "Yes," his wife replied. "I married into the family."

A helicopter was flying around above Seattle yesterday when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communication equipment. Due to the clouds and haze the pilot could not determine his position or course to steer to the airport. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign and held it in the helicopter's window. T he sign said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters.  People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign and held it in a building window. Their sign said, "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER.'  The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map and determined the course to steer to SEATAC (Seattle/Tacoma) airport and landed safely.  After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position.  The pilot responded, "I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building because they gave me a technically correct but completely useless reply…………………...
