WE TOOK THE BIG E OUT FOR A TOOT THIS MORNING AND POURING OVER MY ATLAS AND WESTERN MOUNTAIN DIRECTORY GUIDE

DSC_8807_thumb

Due to a Al’s latest muddled mix-up mess this is actually my Saturday July 14th post!!

In my Jammie Bear PJ's and hoping for rain I slipped out into the night and closed the Motorhome's windows and door late Friday night after checking our live radar weather map.  Closed the shed doors as well.  It never did rain in the night but we were left with a cloud cover all day Saturday along with a few sprinkles.

Figured the Motorhome was needing a run so all three of climbed aboard and headed ourselves up the highway to Goderich.  Stopped into a couple second hand stores looking for some table or shelf ideas for around my recliner in the rig.  Did find one appropriately sized table so we'll try to incorporate it into the rig somehow.  It was a free root beer day at A&W so we popped in for a couple burgs.  Quick stop at Food Basics grocery store and some gas at the Solo gas bar and we were on our way home again.  A few raindrops on the windshield as the rig hummed us along and whisked us safely back to Bayfield.  We've had the Big E over four years now and we are still very  happy with it.  Best rig we've ever owned despite a few frustrating but fixable problems in the first couple years.  And to think we were thinking of selling it a month or two ago.  Well shame on us!!

Always geographically interesting and fun planning travel routes and I spent some time earlier this evening pouring over my Rand-McNally Atlas as well as Google Maps on the computer.  Also looking very carefully at our Mountain Directory West for the western States of Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Northern California.  We’ve travelled with our Mountain Directory right from day one of our travels back in 06 and it’s a directory you do not want to leave home without if your going to be driving through mountains out west.  The reading may be a little scary for some folks but if that is the way you are going to go then that is what you have to read because for sure you are going to want to know about the up and down steep grades and winding roads ahead of you.   I pretty much have things figured out as far as Yellowstone National Park, Grand Tetons, and Jackson Hole but after that it’s bit of a dog’s breakfast.  I have been to all those places before back in 1992 but Kelly hasn’t.  Once we head west from the Jackson Hole area everything will be new for both of us…………………..

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Murphy's wife borrowed his car and parked in the supermarket car park. Just as she came out laden with shopping, she saw a young lad break into the car, hot wire it and drive off.  Naturally she reported the matter to the police.' What did he look like?, the sergeant asked.  'I don't know she replied, but I got the license plate number'.

CLOUDY OVERCAST SKIES LED TO A GLOOMY UNINSPIRING KINDA DAY

DSC_9502
Under threatening skies and a few drops of rain on the windshield Pheebs and I slowly headed out of town this morning.  Moody skies have a habit of bringing me right along with them and my mind again turned inwardly looking for elusive things that are seldom found.

‘HOUSTON, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED’
Headed for our first familiar stopping point southeast of Bayfield on Pavilion Road.  Instead of a usual leg stretch here we set off along the edge of a cornfield to a farmer’s bush lane we had walked a couple times before.  The bush lane of course led into a forest.

WASN’T LONG BEFORE WE REACHED THE CANOPIED TREES
It was our only stop and walk this morning.  We continued our drive easing the Jeep along slowly taking in the morning’s solemn sky.  Marching clouds moving from south to north.  Moderate winds on the ground were blowing from the southeast.  With my mood invoking Sirius Satellite music going I actually kinda love mornings like this when the mind kind of frowns and wallops itself around.  We were back home before 10 and I again found myself floundering for motivation.

‘DO YOU REALLY THINK READERS WILL BELIEVE ALL THAT MUMBO JUMBO DAD’:))
Took Pheebs for a short walk on the trail this afternoon.  Kelly’s son Ben, wife Bree, and their 2 boys Darion and Kai dropped in for a short visit on their way to Deer Park Lodge where they have a cabin rented for a few days.

‘HEY MOM HERE COMES THAT CRAZY FLYING DICKIE BIRD AGAIN’
So upset with myself this afternoon for accidentally deleting my last 6 posts on Blogger.  It explains what happened about a week and a half ago when 4 posts also mysteriously vanished.  (well it’s no mystery anymore) Nobody to blame but myself for the careless inattentive mistakes caused no doubt by this aging mind of mine.  So disappointing but so far Kelly has been able to retrieve all but 1 of them so if you see a Saturday July 14th post pop up out of sequence it’s just the last missing post.  In the meantime Kelly has set me in the corner facing the wall with a big dunce cap on my head with strict orders to not go anywhere near the computer until told I can do so…..….:((

ONE STEP CLOSER MISTER AND I’LL JUMP!!
I have heard over the years how people can become confused as they age.  Never gave it much thought of course because I figured I hadn’t reached that stage yet and it didn’t apply to me.  Well guess what…..My muddle today was nothing new and I’ve been aware for awhile now that I’m having trouble with some things and becoming readily confused is one of them.  I began experiencing this maybe four or five years ago when I started losing ground on figuring out simple technical stuff.  I was never a hot-shot on a computer but I did manage to figure a lot of things out and often knew what to do when things went wrong and knew how to fix them.  Not any more.  I become confused sometimes while writing my blog even.  I will forget where I am and sometimes sit here staring at the screen trying to remember what  it was I was doing or what it is I need to do next.  I can’t seem to concentrate on figuring things out which were once reasonably easy.  To make matters worse I become very impatient and irritated with myself when I have these memory stumbles.  As I have said many times before in my posts if it wasn’t for Kelly there wouldn’t be any Bayfield Bunch blog.  She is the one who keeps the train on the tracks every time I forget where I’m going and then wonder why I haven't got there yet.

St. Peter and Satan were having an argument one day about baseball. Satan proposed a game to be played on neutral grounds between a select team from the heavenly host and his own hand-picked boys. "Very well," said the gatekeeper of Heaven. "But you realize, I hope, that we've got all the good players and the best coaches."
"I know, and that's all right," Satan answered unperturbed. "We've got all the umpires."

WELL I WENT AND DID SOMTHING STUPID AGAIN!!

You may notice a bunch of my posts are missing again and we think it’s because I mistakenly deleted them from Blogger.  Kelly is going to try and retrieve those posts like last time.  In the meantime she has set me in the corner facing the wall with a big dunce cap on my head with strict orders to not go anywhere near the computer until told I can do so…..….:((

UPDATE:: Kelly has been able to retrieve all but 2 posts so far.  July 12th and 13th are still missing……
