THIS MORNING PHEEBS AND I RETRIEVED THE FORGOTTEN COFFEE CUP

Last words in my ear going out the door this morning were Kelly saying. 'don't forget to get that McDonald's coffee cup'!!  Anyone reading my last Wednesday's post will know why she said that to me.  And yes I did do as I was told.
WEDNESDAY MORNINGS FORGOTTEN COFFEE CUP WAS RIGHT WHERE I LEFT IT
With winds feeling like they were funneling directly down from the Arctic Circle again this morning neither Pheebs or I spent much time outside the Jeep.  However, with Pheebs insisting she have her window down I did have to keep the Jeep's heater on high.
'HEY DAD HOW ABOUT PUTTING MY WINDOW DOWN PLEASE'
Reaching Goderich it was down around the harbor we went.  One lake freighter at the salt dock and I'm not sure it was the same one I saw a few days ago with no name on it.  Maybe I somehow missed the name because this ship looked the same but I did see a name.  Algoma Buffalo
NOTICED WHILE TAKING THESE PHOTOS THE BIG LAKE FREIGHTER WAS SLOWLY BACKING UP
WITH HAWSER IN HAND THIS CREWMAN SECURES THE FREIGHTER TO THE DOCK
THEY WERE POSITIONING ONE OF THE SHIPS OPEN HATCHES UNDER THIS SALT BOOM

(Sorry about this big black gap here but I'm still fighting with this annoying Blogger format most every day)

From the harbor it was off to the Canadian Tire store to pick up a large galvanized garbage can to put birdseed in.  The plastic garbage cans are no good because the Squirrels just chew holes right through the lids.
ROAD LEADING DOWN TO AND UP FROM THE HARBOR IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
On the way out of Goderich we stopped and retrieved the coffee cup I had forgot this past week.  Had the wind not been so bitterly cold we would have headed out on the trail for a walk.  Weather forecast has changed from last week and we are now seeing more sunny skies with warmer temperatures ahead.  'Yay Team'.
CAN YOU SEE WHERE I HAD LEFT MY COFFEE CUP??

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS

OUR FIRST PURPLE/HOUSE FINCH OF THE YEAR
If I thought Thursday had been kind of a dismal do nothing day I hadn't met Friday yet.  Pheebs and I did get out in the cold rain for a short toot but were home again before the time we usually leave in the mornings.  Not even a lot of birds flying today and with temps around 40F it just felt too damp to be enjoyably outside.  Yes I know April showers bring May flowers but we don't need those flowers drowned before they get here.
The creative side of my mind doesn't seem to be cooperating with itself tonight so I'm short on words again but let me just say this.....Thank you to everyone for all your kind words over the years.

BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN MY RECLINERS

GOLDFINCHES AT OUR FEEDERS TODAY
Bayfield's 'Bayfield Breeze' explains the work at Bayfield's beach as a bank revetment project below Pioneer Park on the north west section of the park's bank.  And here I thought they were building a 12 story Casino and theme park.
THE BANK IN QUESTION IS DOWN THERE OFF TO THE RIGHT
BAYFIELDERS OUT AND ABOUT FOR A MORNING WALK
NOT A SLIVER OF ICE LEFT ON THE LAKE ANYWHERE
With a homemade coffee in hand on a warmer morning for a change Pheebs and I took ourselves for a short cruise into Bayfield and a few miles beyond.  With cloudy skies overhead it's that transitional time of year before things bloom forth in profusions of color.  The countryside without sunshine this morning looked dull and gray and lifeless.  After a short leg stretch stop we headed home.
AREA GARDEN CENTERS ARE GEARING UP FOR ANOTHER BUSY SPRING SEASON
Before rains arrived around noon I was at least able to get Kelly's car washed and from thereon the day quietly slid into the past.  Both my living room and sun room recliners tossed me back and forth nulling my senses into various forms of semi-consciousness.  In other words, it was a snoozy afternoon.

With a steady Spring rain upon us there was no forest walk today and even if I donned a rain coat I would be walking by myself.  Pheebs doesn't like water and if it's raining she totally refuses to even go out the door.  Even at the lake she only goes as far as the water's edge and will not go in.  I have sometimes wondered if in the two years before we met her she had maybe been thrown into the water a few times and it was not a good experience for her.  Wouldn't be for me either if someone threw me into the water.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  It had been snowing for hours when an announcement came over the University's intercom: "Will the students who are parked on University Drive please move their cars so that we may begin plowing."  Twenty minutes later there was another announcement: "Will the twelve hundred students who went to move 26 cars please return to class."

I was browsing in a souvenir shop when the man next to me struck up a conversation. Just as he was telling me that his wife was getting carried away with her shopping, a brief power shortage caused the lights to flicker overhead. "Ah," he sighed that must he her checking out now."

AN UNEXPECTED BRIGHT SUNNY DAY.....MOTORHOME SPIN, A PARTIAL WASH AND SOME GLASS CLEANED

ON OUR PARK'S POND THIS AFTERNOON
With sunshine pouring through the Jeep's windows after expecting rain this morning I thought to myself, 'I like it when the weatherman sometimes gets things wrong in a good way'.
IT WAS A PEACEFUL COUNTRYSIDE THIS MORNING

A WILD TURKEY STRUTS IT'S STUFF
A swing down around Goderich's north harbor netted a few photos.  Noticed a ship at the salt dock with no name on it.  Think that's the first time I've seen a big lake freighter without it's name on the aft section.  Ship was looking in need of a good refurbishing paint job.
DIDN'T SEE A NAME ON THIS SHIP IN THE GODERICH HARBOR
THIS FISHERMAN IS LOOKING AT SOMETHING
SO IS THIS WORKER ABOARD THE SHIP WITH NO NAME
OOPS SOMEBODY IS PUMPING OUT ONE OF THE BILGE TANKS ONTO THE DOCK BY THE LOOKS OF IT
A few days ago I wrote about a few memory difficulties for both Kelly and I referring to us as Swiss Cheesers. (now just to be clear here I am the one with the more severe Swiss Cheese brain) Today it happened again to both of us although two different situations at two different places about the same time of day.  Forgetting to make a coffee for myself Pheebs and I headed off to Goderich so grabbed a coffee at McDonalds to go.  A short while later we go for a walk east of Goderich and I take my coffee with me.  Finishing it and instead of folding it up into my pocket as I usually do I set the empty cup on the ground beside a fence post meaning to pick it up on our way back to the Jeep.  The coffee cup has a sticker on it which Kelly collects and after a certain number of coffee stickers she gets a free one.  Well of course you already know I forgot to pick up the cup.  Now about the same time as Pheebs and I were out walking Kelly was also in Goderich browsing around her stores of which one was the Thrift Store.  Also with a stop at McDonalds for a coffee to go she stops at the third of three Thrift Stores.  Inside looking at some things she sets her coffee on a shelf and purchases some kitchenware.  With her stuff in hand she heads back out to the car and remembers the coffee she left inside.  Back in she goes but doesn't see the coffee on the shelf where she 'thought' she left it.  A lady store clerk helps Kelly look for the coffee but it's gone.  It was important to find that coffee because it had a free coffee sticker on it.  Finally giving upKelly goes back out to her car...….and there's her coffee right where she had left it in the first place.  The coffee had not even made it into the store.  Yes we're getting to be quite the two Swiss Cheesers alright.  Oh and I do plan to go back for that coffee cup with the sticker on it I left alongside the trail earlier today............if I can remember to do that of course.  Well no problem.  Due to the big threat hanging over my head right now about retrieving that 'coffee cup sticker' I will be sure not to forget it if I know what's good for me!!!!
REWASHED PART OF THE MOTORHOME THIS AFTERNOON
PICKED UP SOME GAS IN CLINTON TODAY
It's sometimes amazing what a little sunshine and warmer air can do for a fella sometimes.  When Pheebs and I got home we hopped into the Motorhome and headed over to Clinton and back.  Had installed the dining room table backwards a couple weeks ago so today I rectified that problem.  Hauled out the hose along with a bucket of water and washed the bottom half of the Motorhome plus wheels again.  Also cleaned all the outside glass.

AN EARLY SPRING WALK FOR US GUYS
SIGNS OF SPRING ARE POPPING OUT ALL OVER
HEARING AN UNFAMILIAR BIRD CALL I LOOKED UP AND AM GUESSING THIS MIGHT BE A RUFOUS-SIDED TOWHEE
Pheebs and I did manage another afternoon walk before the cloud cover moved in.  Not too much going on in the pine forest yet but I did manage to get a few photos of a Kingfisher with one of those photos showing the Kingfisher in flight.  They are fast flyers and very difficult to get a photo of.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A man walks into a bar, he sees two pieces of meat hanging from the ceiling. He asks the barman, "Why are those two pieces of meat hanging from the ceiling?"The barman replies, "It's a competition which we run every night. If you can jump up and touch the meat, you get free drinks for the whole night.""Great!" says the man, "but what if I can't reach them?""Then you have to buy all the drinks for everyone all night," the barman answers."Do you want to try?""No, but thanks anyway.""Why not?", asks the barman."The steaks are too high."

"What happened to the wooden car with wooden wheels and wooden engine?" asked the curious boy. His mother took a deep breath and then replied, "It wooden go."
