ALL ROADS LEADING OUT OF BAYFIELD CLOSED DUE TO ONGOING WINTER STORM

Our bitterly cold windy day was basically a complete repeat of Thursday's weather.  At the time of typing this Friday it's 21F.  Blowing snow to a point where the 3 main roads leading out of Bayfield were all closed with school buses being cancelled.  Local town plows were out but I think maybe the highway plows are holding off until the high winds die down.  Pheebs and I drove around Bayfield, made some tracks through the cemetery, and let Pheebs out there for a romp in the snow.  Even the Bayfield Bridge workers were not on the job today and  Bayfield's frozen river is almost over top the recently rebuilt north fishing boat dock.  Weather forecasters say we have one more day of this before things begin turning around.  I see the 14 day forecast has temps steadily on the rebound beginning Sunday with temps heading up into the high 30's next week and same thing for the following week with temps possibly topping 40F.  I know that doesn't sound like much to people in the south but up here where we are it's the early beginning of some long awaited pure Spring magic:))

These are long gray days right now but at least we are at the stage where light at the end of this long dark wintery tunnel can finally be seen.  We will certainly appreciate sunnier warm days ahead.

In a comment not long ago someone asked how Kelly is doing and I have to say despite her serious stage four liver condition she is doing remarkably well.  One of the effects of this liver disease is itching and she is having a bit of a time with that despite prescribed anti-itch medications, etc.  Other than that and aside from a few smaller things she is strong, optimistic, uncomplaining, and doesn't let the liver disease diagnosis get her down.  She's a real trooper and it's just who she is and the way she is.

GROANER'S CORNER:((    A diner at a country inn is shocked to see on the menu a dish of "hickory-smoked possum jowls in syrup." He summons a waiter to complain.  The waiter looks at the menu. Then he flings it down and yells to the owner in the kitchen, "Hey, the printers forgot to translate the menu into French again!"

BITTERLY COLD NASTY DAY AND IT WAS ONE YEAR AGO WE BEGAN OUR LONG TREK HOME FROM THE SOUTHWEST

IT WAS A COLD BLUSTERY WINTER'S DAY
The only thing of any significance going on here is once again (ho-hum) the weather.  With today's 23F temperatures and high blustering icy cold winds coming in off the lake blowing around yesterday's 5 inch snowfall it was not a nice day for anyone to be outside if they didn't have to be.  Of course Pheebs and I had to be so off we went heading north up Portal Hill Line in the direction of Goderich.  It was a strong westerly wind blowing snow straight across the road and we punched our way through a couple dozen or more small variable depth snow drifts.  Surprisingly visibility was good and had it not been good we would have turned around and went home.  Getting to Goderich wasnt really a problem and it was kinda fun plowing through the small drifts watching the snow fly around behind us.
GUSTING WESTERLY WINDS (LEFT TO RIGHT) CAUSED A LOT OF GROUND DRIFTING
MY LANE HAD BEEN PLOWED BUT NOT THE ONCOMING LANE
Gas, a few groceries, coffee to go at McDonalds, a non eventful swing down around the harbor, and we were on our way home making snow fly again.  All my yard paths were filled in so the first order of business was to get them all shoveled out again and I did that in two stages.  There was no afternoon walk for Pheebs and I.  Too cold and windy plus the snow was too deep to trudge through.  With today's high winds it's a miracle our power never went out.

SHOVELING OUT MY SNOWY PATHWAYS
I did buy myself a small box of tea this morning.  Certainly not my favorite drink but I'm going to make an effort to either like it or get along well enough with it to drink it.  It's supposed to be healthy and all that stuff and I am trying to make changes to beat back this diabetes thing.
LOTS OF HUNGRY BIRDS IN OUR FRONT YARD TODAY
It was one year ago today we rolled out of the Legion parking lot in Borrego  Springs California beginning our long and arduous journey home.  It was not a good trip and by the time we finally arrived home after costly repairs to our Motorhome along the way we were just about at the end of our RVing tether.  We had known for awhile if we were going to continue our RV Snowbird lifestyle we were going to have to make some major decisions on how we were going to do that.  We are now in the midst of those difficult changes and our RVing future is still and unknown.  Here's my post from one year ago today.....Borrego Springs California To Parker Arizona

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones that I do like, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I told my boss that three companies were after me, so I needed a raise in pay to stay with the current job. He asked which companies? I told him gas, electric, and cable.

A mother was sitting on the couch reading a book when one of her children walked up to her and said, Mummy, why is my name Petal? The mother replied, Because when you were born, a petal fell on your head. The next baby walked up and asked, Mummy why is my name Rose? she replied, Because when you were born, a rose fell on your head. The last baby walked up to her and said, BLAS CLAFLAS YIFRASSAM TASSM POONNFFFIINRTY. The mother replied,  Because when you were small a refrigerator fell on your head.
