BAYFIELD TO PORT ELGIN.....A GREAT FIRST DAY DESPITE SOMETHING LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT

Pheebs and I skipped our Jeep ride this morning but she still got out of a walk earlier with Kelly  Our time was spent poking away at loading up a final few things into the Motorhome.  With no destination or time schedule there was no need for hurrying.  Finally had things pulled together by 9:35 and we rolled out our driveway a few minutes later heading the short distance west to highway 21.  Turning right we began our days predominately northbound journey.  First stop was Goderich's Solo gas bar to top off our propane tank.  A whopping $7.53.  It was another beautiful early Autumn day with clear sunny skies and mid to upper 60F temps

OUR SOLO GAS BAR PROPANE STOP

Our leisurely drive took us north along the Lake Huron coast to Port Elgin where we decided to pull into a Walmart and check out their Wifi signal for future reference.  While parked I decided to take Pheebs out for a short walk on the grass and it was here I saw something dripping from underneath the rig's engine behind the passenger side front tire.  It was colorless and odorless but their was a fair amount of dripping and it wasn't stopping.  What I hadn't noticed while driving was that I had unknowgnly set our gauge on A/C so we had been driving along with the air conditioning on and that explained the water dripping.  To be sure, I switched the dial off A/C and we drove around Port Elgin for a short bit then stopped and checked to see if the dripping had stopped.  To our great relief it had.

'OH OH' DAD, NOW YOU'VE GONE AND DONE IT'
Kelly has an app on her phone called 'Overlander' that shows where destinations can be found and she spotted a free camping area slightly north of Port Elgin called ??  Her phones GPS took us right to the spot and luckily nobody was there.  It's a large parking area with a nice modern washroom and great hiking trails. And it's overnightable but no Wifi.

NICE SCENIC PORT ELGIN ROAD ALONGSIDE LAKE HURON
THIS WILL BE OUR SPOT FOR THE NIGHT LATER

Knowing we had us a guaranteed overnight spot we re-traced our tracks back along the lakeside road to Port Elgin's main beach area where we found a friendly doggy beach.  Made ourselves comfortable here and sat on the stony beach for about 45 minutes before moving about a mile south to the main beach area where we found a wifi signal.

WE'RE AT THE DOGGY BEACH
OH NO IS THAT PHEEBS??
NOPE, IT'S ANOTHER DOG
WE SAT HERE BY THE WATER FOR QUITE AWHILE ON TOP OF THIS BURIED PICNIC TABLE
Spent about an hour here, watched a fishing boat come into the harbor and caught up our computer on-line stuff.

A CREW MEMBER HELPS DOCK THE BOAT

At 4 o'clock we headed for Port Elgin's south end to the Lord Elgin Fish and Chip  place for the best fish and chips I've had for years.  Any older readers from the Stratford area might remember the Gleneagle or Iona fish & chip places in the 50's.  Those places have always been the benchmark in fish and chips for me.  Madelene's in Stratford in latter years was always good as well.   We got take-out and ate ours in the coach.

I'D SAY THAT LOOK SAYS IT ALL
From the fish & chip place we headed back on down to the main beach area, tapped into the free wifi and waited for the sunset.  However, the beautiful sunset we were hoping to see......couldn't be seen.  'A heavy fog rolled in off the lake around 6 o'clock and blotted out the sun:((  Stayed here for a couple hours while I put today's post together.  By the time I got it published it was foggy and dark.  We will now have to find our overnight spot again in the dark.

WAITING FOR THE SUNSET THAT NEVER HAPPENED

GROANER'S CORNER:((
The psychiatrist was interviewing a first-time patient.  "You say you're here," he inquired, "because your family is worried about your taste in socks?"  "That's correct," muttered the patient. "I like wool socks."  "But that's perfectly normal," replied the doctor. "Many people prefer wool socks to those made from cotton or acrylic. In fact, I myself like wool socks."  "You do?" exclaimed the man. "With oil and vinegar or just a squeeze of lemon?"

A FEW PHOTOS FROM A BEAUTIFUL SEPTEMBER MORN ON THE FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN

Took us a few tries to get our Mr. Buddy Heater up and running after getting things assembled this morning but all is working well now and ready to go.  Decided not to do my blood work stuff Friday and put it off until next week.  With favorable weather ahead for the remainder of the week that clears the way for us to slip away for a few days in our little Winnie-Wagon.  No idea where we will end up Wednesday and there's probably a good chance we won't have an internet connection wherever it is.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Thoughts To Ponder::

1. If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?
2. Why are the little styrofoam pieces called peanuts?
3. Why does the Easter bunny carry eggs? Rabbits don't lay eggs.
4. Why do caregiver and caretaker mean the same thing?
5.Can a short person "talk down" to a taller person?
6. If a bald person works as a chef at a restaurant, do they have to wear a hairnet?
7. Do prison buses have emergency exits?
8. Do astronauts change their clocks when they move over different time zones in space?
9. When lightning strikes the ocean why don't all the fish die?
10. If a guy that was about to die in the electric chair had a heart attack should they save him?
11. Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii?
12. If Mars had earthquakes would they be called marsquakes
13. Why do we sing "Rock a bye baby" to lull a baby to sleep when the song is about putting your baby in a tree and letting the wind crash the cradle on the ground?
14. If parents say, "Never take candy from strangers" then why do we celebrate Halloween?
15. Why do we put suits in a garment bag and put garments in a suitcase?
