I DON'T KNOW WHERE MY ABSENT MIND GOES BUT I HOPE IT ENJOYS ITSELF WHEN IT GETS THERE

Well, here we are back to our normal daily routine again, so not breaking with that routine Pheebs and I were again into the Jeep heading to Goderich's TSC to buy some birdseed.  Birdseed was at the top of my list along with half a dozen other things below.  And it was birdseed I didn't have when we later arrived home.  I don't know where my forgetful mind goes but I certainly hope it enjoys itself wherever it is because it sure can't be enjoying itself hanging around in my absent-minded head half the time.

I have a feeling some readers may have become confused with my recent travel posts when I fell behind because of some blogging problems I encountered.  The following are my two posts for Thursday and Friday.  This is my Friday post...Wiarton To Wiarton With A Bunch Of Stops In Between and this is my Saturday post...Wiarton To Mill Bank (Anna Mae's) And Home.  Hope this clears up some of the confusion.  Now to the blogging problem I had.  Thinking it was a laptop computer/Picasa problem I found out after getting home that was not the case because my laptop and Picasa photo program worked fine together here at home.  It had to be our slower wifi connections along the way and while in Wiarton it would take me nearly 5 minutes to download one picture.  Couple that with Blogger's ongoing daily glitches and it turned out too much for me and I steadily dropped behind.

Our wonderful Fall weather slowly deteriorated throughout the day and around four this afternoon rains came bringing with them cooler weather.  Cooler weather I don't mind, it's the coming colder weather I am not looking forward to.  Pheebs and I luckily managed to get an afternoon walk in before the rains.  At posting time tonight, it is still raining

KELLY'S BEEN BUSY SETTING OUT SOME PUMPKINS
It was sure nice to get away from the political news south of the border for a few days and I certainly didn't miss it.  I never listen to news on the radio or TV while traveling and I don't trust the majority of whack-job sites on the internet to tell me the truth about anything.  However, only home a day I was like a moth drawn to a flame and was soon tuning into my favorite trusted TV news channels to get myself caught up on the reality of what I had missed.  I think we really need to do more traveling to very faraway places and be away from all this mind knumbing stuff!!

THIS IS MY SUNDAY POST AND I AM ALL CAUGHT UP NOW.....WHEWW, ABOUT TIME''

Instead of Pheebs and I hopping into the Jeep this morning for our usual country road drive, we climbed aboard the Winnie-Wagon instead.  We had us a destination and it was in Clinton.  No, not the Tim Horton coffee shop this time.  We had the rig's black and gray tanks to dump and Clinton has a free facility for doing that.  Everything went well and we didn't have any nasty surprises.  We were home again within half an hour.  Cleaned up the Winnie from our short trip then backed it into its very own RV spot until next time.
I took a photo break today and after my long posts these past four days I intend to keep this one short.  I think we all need a break, whether I'm writing it or you are stuck reading it.  Tonight's photos are from this past Friday somewhere on the Bruce Peninsula...........

THIS IS MY SATURDAY POST:: WIARTON TO MILLBANK AND HOME

MORNING'S PLACID WATERS IN WIARTON'S HARBOR
Up around 6:30 it wasn't long before Old Sol made his presence known in the east.  We had us a clear sunny morning going on and with temperatures continuing to climb these past couple days we knew it was going to be a very warm day.  Even Friday afternoon we had noticed the humidity climbing and today was going to be even hotter.  We don't do hot very well so the decision was made to slowly wander on home.  Having over-packed for our Sarnia trip a couple weeks ago we flopped over to the other side and 'under-packed for our Bruce Peninsula trip.  Odds are next time we'll maybe get it right.
WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE WHOLE PARKING LOT....I LIKE WHEN THAT HAPPENS:))

'HEY KELLY, WAIT UP'
WHO SAID THAT??
Rolled out of our Wiarton overnight spot at 9 a.m. with our first stop once again being Tim Hortons for coffee to go on our slow and meandering homeward journey.  Just another beautiful Autumn day as we leisurely cruised southbound through small towns like Allenford, Tara, and Dobbington in southwestern Ontario's beautifully rural and sometimes rolling farmlands.  Trees are turning color fast now.  A lot of farm machinery on the roads today as farmers were busy with the soybean harvest and we noticed a couple fellas already starting to combine their corn.

LOOKS LIKE A LOG FARM OVER THERE
Just north of Mildmay Ontario we pulled into a County Works yard for a walkabout on some green grass and it was here we came up with the idea to head for Anna Maes Mennonite Restaurant in Millbank, Ontario.  It's been a whole lotta years since we've been there.  One time when my Aunt Jean flew into Toronto from Sarasota Florida Kelly and I picked her up at the airport and we drove straight away to Anna Mae's.  Anna Mae's was a favorite place for Jean's brother, my Uncle Harry too.  RV readers of my blog will well know Suzi and the late George Yates from Our Awesome Travels.  Anna Mae's was one of George's favorite eateries and he loved the broasted chicken there which Anna Mae's is well known for.

YEP, WE'RE GETTING CLOSER TO MILLBANK ALRIGHT

It was about noon when we rolled into Millbank and even knowing there would be a lot of people at Anna Mae's already I was instantly discouraged by all the cars in the crowded parking lot and people lined up to get in.  Had I been by myself I would have just kept on going but Kelly would have none of that.  I dropped her off in the parking lot to slip inside for a reservation while Pheebs and I tried to hunt ourselves down a parking spot.  There were so many cars coming and going it was discouraging but finally I found room on the west side of the building.  Kelly came out and said it would be a twenty-minute wait which of course I knew would really mean a forty-minute wait.  And forty minutes it was before we even got in the door.  Can you imagine me standing in a line-up for the best part of 40 minutes??  No, I can't imagine it either......but I did.

AND BY GOLLY THERE IT IS......ANNA MAE'S:))
FINALLY FOUND A PARKING PLACE AND I THINK KELLY IS OVER THERE ON THE RIGHT SOMEWHERE LEANING AGAINST A TREE
YEP THERE SHE IS

KELLY IS SO MUCH LIKE HER DAD WAS FOR STRIKING UP CONVERSATIONS WITH STRANGERS....ME. NOT SO MUCH, IF EVER
In my opinion, Anna Mae's restaurant is a head and shoulders above all the other eateries in the area.  Like George, my favorite is the broasted chicken as well and that was what both Kelly and I had.  Just think of it, real mashed potatoes topped with real homemade gravy, real turnips, and real chickens as well.  And all done to perfection by the areas Mennonite folks.  Top that off with a fresh bun baked right there in their own bakery.  And then there are the deserts which of course I didn't have any.  Darn it anyway!!

I DON'T THINK THIS BIG BRIGHT ROOM WAS EVEN BUILT THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE
NICE TO SEE THEY PUT IN THESE BIG BRIGHT WINDOWS
OH-BOY, GEORGE WOULD BE SO PROUD OF ME FOR TAKING THIS PICTURE....NOW WHY DIDN'T I REMEMBER TO TAKE THAT BUTTER THING OUT OF THE PHOTO!!
NORMALLY ALL THIS EMPTY FLOOR SPACE WOULD BE TAKEN UP WITH TABLES

THAT ODD LOOKING  LITTLE BICYCLE THING IN THE CENTER IS ACTUALLY FUNCTIONAL AND IS USED BY THE YOUNG MENNONITE WAITRESSES TO SCOOT AROUND THE PARKING LOT WITH TAKE-OUT ORDERS FOR PEOPLE WAITING IN THEIR CARS
From Anna Mae's to home it was a pleasant Saturday morning drive except for the wind suddenly picking up and knocking us around a bit.  It was right on the stroke of 3 o'clock I backed into our driveway and shut it down.  We had traveled 423 miles since leaving home 4 days earlier.  Soooo good to get away and sooooooo good to get home again and especially so with the heat and miserable humidity creeping back into the air.  Despite both of us being very tired we emptied the rig right away (refrigerator etc,) and that is something we always have a tendency to do after returning from any kind of a trip.

It was a great four-day orientation trip we had as we got to know our way around the rig.  It was very assuring to know the decision we made to buy this particular Class C RV was the right one for us.  Its versatility and ease of driving are two big factors and the ability to scramble around on roads in out of way areas is key for us.  We have always been the kind of travelers who like to get off the beaten path away from the hustle and bustle and explore new areas and places.  These past four days were a good example of that.  Our way to travel.

AN EARLY MORNING WIARTON DUCK IN THE HARBOR

So, any travel plans for the next few weeks??  We haven't got that far in our thinking yet but with 5 days of rain predicted starting Monday we will certainly not be going anywhere for those days.  We'll see how the weather pans out after that over the next couple of weeks.  Our travel window is quickly coming to an end for another year here in Ontario but with a bit of luck we can hopefully get one more short trip in before having to winterize the rig.  We'll see........
