GOING AGAINST MY OWN ADVICE I HAVE BURIED MY HEAD IN THE SAND

GOLDFINCHES ARE RETURNING TO THEIR VIBRANT YELLOW SUMMER COLORS

I guess it could be called impatience at this time of year and I think a lot of us get it.  We are so close to warmer weather and yet with these windchill-driven days, we just can't seem to turn the corner.   Okay, so maybe it's just my impatience and nobody else.

GOLDFINCH ON THE LEFT AND A RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH ON THE RIGHT

Pheebs and I wandered up to Goderich and back this morning.  Not much new about that as we did our usual drive down around the harbor.

SPOTTED A FELLOW SHUTTER BUG ENJOYING THE MORNING AT GODERICH'S ROTARY COVE

Home again the wind gusts were nearly blowing our hanging birdfeeder upside down.  I immersed myself in my recliner, book in hand, and said, "the heck with it I'm staying in"!!  And so went the day.

HEADING HOME THIS MORNING I NOTICED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN OLD TROLL BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UP THERE ON THE LEFT
YEP, IT WAS A TROLL ALRIGHT
Finished my latest book, Passport To The Cosmos by John E Mack.  It wasn't an easy read for me but I made it through from beginning to end.  I had to really concentrate on what I was reading to try and comprehend and understand what it was I was trying to understand at times.  But I got the gist of what he was saying and that was the important part for me.  I maybe don't understand the mechanics of how all this is working but I am comfortable knowing that, 'it is real and it is happening'.  My next book will deal with the views and beliefs of Indigenous People and their centuries-old deep connection to what they call the Star People.

It's been nearly 3 weeks now since I last watched any cable news so I have no idea what's going on south of the border anymore.  I have gone against my own advice and buried my head in the sand.  I just can't take any more of what is happening to the United States.  A country I had learned to love over our RVing years.  A country I had so fondly considered and remembered as our second home.  I was totally a non-political person up to about 6 years ago and I'm hoping I can return to that status once again and not let myself be drawn into that political quagmire anymore.  Politics just seem to pull the absolute worst out of so many otherwise good people...........

GROANER'S CORNER:((  There were two lovers, who were really into spiritualism and reincarnation. They vowed that if either died, the other one remaining would try to contact the partner in the other world exactly 30 days after their death.  Unfortunately, a few weeks later, the young man died in a car wreck. True to her word, his sweetheart tried to contact him in the spirit world exactly 30 days later. At the seance, she called out, "John, John, this is Martha. Do you hear me?"  A ghostly voice answered her, "Yes Martha, this is John. I can hear you."  Martha tearfully asked, "Oh John, what is it like where you are?"  "It's beautiful. There are azure skies, a soft breeze, sunshine most of the time."  "What do you do all day?" asked Martha.  "Well, Martha, we get up before sunrise, have a great breakfast, and there's nothing but making love until noon. After lunch, we nap until two and then make love again until about five. After dinner, we go at it again until we fall asleep about 11 p.m." Martha was somewhat taken aback. "Is that what heaven really is like?"  "Heaven? I'm not in heaven, Martha."  "Well, then, where are you?"  "I'm a rabbit in Arizona."

AND OF COURSE YOU ALREADY KNOW I MUCH PREFER THE SECOND OPTION

It was a bright sunny blue sky morning but with an icy northwind dropping the 32F temps into the low 20's it was cold, cold, cold.  Pheebs and I took ourselves for a drive southeast of Varna Ontario to Kerr's Campground for a walkaround.  Too early in the season for the campground to be open but I could see they are expanding their RV hook-up sites.  This is a very nice scenic family-oriented country RV Park away from city noise, busy roads, and the general hubbub of urban life.  I'm guessing there are about 30 units there.  Kerr's Campground can be found at the southwest corner of Centennial Road and Bannockburn Line if you are in the area.  Entrance to the Park is off Bannockburn Line.  Pheebs and I were home shortly after ten.

BESIDES EXPANDING THE SERVICES I NOTICED A NUMBER OF NEW TREES PLANTED AS WELL

AND THIS NEW FENCE HAS REPLACED AN OLDER TUMBLE DOWN ONE
THEY HAVE SEVERAL NICE FRESHWATER PONDS HERE AND THIS ONE IS AIREATED
THAT'S PHEEBS OUT THERE ON THE WALKING BRIDGE
THIS WATERFALL IS BETWEEN THE TWO PONDS
THIS ROAD LEADS TO THE RV AREA
With so much sunshine outside it was hard to remain inside but with so much cold air outside I had to keep going inside to warm myself up.  Had there been no icy north winds outside it would have been an enjoyable day.  I did manage to dig up and re-locate 3 different kinds of grass plants with one of them being Bamboo.  And Pheebs and I did trudge ourselves out for an afternoon walk.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE DUCKS ARE ON THE CAMPGROUNDS POND
MUST SAY I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE AN ALL WHITE DUCK

I don't care for 'Game Shows' but Kelly likes watching Jeopardy.  My late Mother did too.  On Thursday nights Jeopardy there was a fellow on from my hometown of Tavistock Ontario.  His name is Scott Shewfelt.  Right beside my Mother's house is a Veterinary Clinic and the man who started that years ago I think was a fellow by the name of Shewfelt.  I wouldn't be surprised the guy on Jeopardy might have been a son or relative of Dr. Shewfelt.  When my Mother's house was sold back in 2004 it was the next door Veterinary Clinic that bought it and I think the Veterinary staff and trainees may live or stay there now.

THESE CANADA GEESE HAD JUST LIFTED OFF THE POND AS WE CAME ALONG

We became aware today of more housing developments going on in our area.  Tiny Homes For Big Thinkers is already in the works for the recently sold and existing Princess Huron Park along the shores of Lake Huron between Bayfield and Goderich.  And closer to Bayfield a new 300 unit development is already underway overlooking the lake across from the Bluewater Golf Course And Campground called Bluewater Shores.  Our quiet little gem of an area here along the shores of Lake Huron is certainly undergoing some major changes with both Grand Bend and Goderich ramping up significant housing developments as well.  People are flocking to the area.  We have been here for over 18 years now and I think we have been really fortunate to have experienced this area's quiet peacefulness for as long as we have.  However, I guess change is inevitable and we either adapt with that change or pull up stakes and move further out into the serene countryside away from the coming hustle and bustle.  And of course, you already know I much prefer the second option..............

I COULD SEE RIGHT AWAY THERE WAS A BIG PROBLEM IN GRAND BEND ONTARIO THIS MORNING

 PALS
Clicking on the Grand Bend Yacht Club's harbor cam at first light this morning I could see right away that they had themselves a big problem happening there at the river mouth.  For a small community on the shores of Lake Huron, this was very serious.

 DID YA SEE BERNIE??
Despite weather predictions of a possible nasty winter-like day I was surprised to see no snow on the ground and a clear sky sunrise.  However, it didn't take long for that to change.  It was my turn to drive this morning so I picked Richard up at 9 a.m. and we headed off down highway 21 to Grand Bend Ontario to have a look at their current harbor problem.  With a few lite snow flurries in the Bend we slowly cruised around looking at this and that.  Rolled out into the countryside in a wide country arc before heading north for home.  Winds picked up and brought blowing snow in off the lake.  Fairly heavy at times but not a threat and we were able to hang onto our visibility okay.  All and all, another nice morning sipping coffee, eating a Tim Horton's 'fruit explosion' muffin, and chatting ourselves up a storm.
 SNOWY TRAVELS THIS MORNING
ONE OF ONLY A FEW PATCHES OF BLUE SKY WE SAW
HAVING JUST DROPPED RICHARD OFF I AM HEADING HOME
I was home again about 11:30.  Too cold to do anything outside so it was an inside afternoon.  By the weekend we will be slipping back into more acceptable Spring-like weather.
OUR PARK ENTRANCE IS LOOKING QUITE EASTERY
Thanks to everyone for all the best wishes on Kelly's birthday a few days ago.  Much appreciated here at the Bayfield Bunch:))
A FEW PICS AROUND OUR FRONT YARD THIS AFTERNOON
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day:  During the final approach, the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate.
- And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Delta airlines is pleased to have some of the best flight attendants in the
industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!"
"Your seat cushions can be used for flotation, and, in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with you with our compliments."
"Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Southwest Airlines."
