NOW THAT WAS RIGHT NICE OF MONICA TO DO THAT

My long-time good buddy Jim from Stratford Ontario suggested we get together for a coffee this morning so Pheebs and I had a destination.  A quick walk at our spot under cloudy 64F skies and then off to Clinton's Tim Hortons to get a coffee to go.  Ten minutes later we arrived at a little sports Park at the east end of Seaforth.  Jim was already there and we soon had our lawn chairs set up alongside a parking lot at the Park's south end.  Of course, Pheebs was after Jim right away because Jim had some snacks.  A southeast wind made it feel a bit cool but I had foreseen that and dressed warmly in a T-shirt, two long-sleeved shirts, and a lite nylon jacket.  Jim and I chalked up about two and a half hours with much of that time spent on events south of the border.  Of course, we covered many of the older bases as well and I always come away feeling better about things after talking to Jim.  It was 11:45 when we wrapped things up and none too soon.  I had heard thunder while sitting there and within minutes of leaving the Park, I had my windshield wipers going full tilt as the landscape came under a heavy deluge of rain.  I had planned on taking some colorful Autumn photos on the way home but the downpour put an abrupt end to those thoughts. The rain finally ended sometime in the afternoon and skies brightened.

Not once today or in previous days did I think of it being our Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend.  Well, that is not until about 20 minutes after our good neighbor Monica phoned and asked me to pick up a food order at Bayfield's Hub On The Docks restaurant at 4 p.m.  She had phoned in for two take-out Thanksgiving dinners complete with pumpkin pie.  Now that was right nice of Monica to do that.  She has brought several heated meals over for me these past couple of months plus a nice pork roast one day which I did myself in the oven.  Monica has been our good neighbor for nearly 19 years now.  In another week she will fly off to Florida for the winter.

GROANER'S CORNER:((   Two elderly ladies meet at the launderette after not seeing one another for some time. After inquiring about each other's health, one asked how the other's husband was doing.  "Oh! Ted died last week. He went out to the garden to dig up a cabbage for dinner, had a heart attack, and dropped dead right there in the middle of the vegetable patch!"  "Oh dear! I'm so very sorry," replied her friend. "What did you do?"  "Opened a can of peas instead."

THIS DAY WAS FOR THE BIRDS

A YOUNG FEMALE CARDINAL
Rainy skies dominated Friday morning leaving us with an afternoon cloud cover which only began to dissipate later in the day.  Needless to say, most of my time was spent inside.  Since putting our hanging bird feeder up again a few days ago, feathered traffic has been increasing.  So, I will leave you with a few cloudy day bird pics......Saturday's mostly all-day rain came complete with afternoon lightning and thunder.  Luckily, skies cleared again and we ended another day under sunny skies.

A musical director was having a lot of trouble with one drummer. He talked and talked and talked with the drummer, but his performance simply didn't improve.  Finally, before the whole orchestra, he said, "When a musician just can't handle his instrument and doesn't improve when given help, they take away the instrument, and give him two sticks, and make him a drummer."  A stage whisper was heard from the percussion section: "And if he can't even handle that, they take away one of his sticks and make him a conductor."

I READ HALF A DOZEN SQUIRRELS THE RIOT ACT TODAY!!

How nice to see sunny skies again this morning.  Sunshine after a spate of gray rainy days always puts a bit of extra pep in my every step.  So, it was a peppy morning walk we had.  The rest of the day was a mix of sun and clouds with comfortable temps around 67F.

HEADING OUT OF OUR DARK FOREST THIS MORNING I WAS HAPPY TO SEE BLUE SKIES AHEAD

Not a long Jeep ride and we were soon home again.  I cut some more grass, fired up the rig's generator, and put away more of our outside summer yard stuff.  Re-hung a bird feeder for the coming cold weather then rounded up half a dozen rascally Squirrels to read them the riot act about messing with that feeder!!

I wasn't totally satisfied with my recent sunroom renovations.  The TV way over in the corner put a strain on my neck to see it and I had to add volume to hear it.  I moved the TV back closer to the desk but not the same spot as before.  The computer desktop remains unchanged.

I've heard a rumor floating around that the Canada/U.S. border will be opened November 21rst.  I was kinda hoping it might be October 21rst.  Not that we will be in any kind of position to go anywhere anyway but I would just like to see the border open again.  It sure would be good news for a whole lot of Canadian RV folks.

Henry goes to confession and says, "Bless me Father, for I have sinned. Last night I was with seven different ladies."  The priest says, "Take seven lemons, squeeze them into a glass and drink the juice without pausing."  "Will that cleanse me of my sins, Father?"  "No," replies the priest. "But it'll wipe that silly grin off your face."

NOT MUCH GOING ON BETWEEN WALKS

Despite clouds and drizzly rain, Pheebs and I did make it out for a morning walk but following that we came right home again.  Same thing for our evening walk with not much going on between walks.  Some days are just like that.  We'll have another go at it again tomorrow.

A 90-year-old man goes for a physical and all of his tests come back normal.  The doctor says, “Larry, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?”  Larry replies, “God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so He’s fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, poof! The light goes on. When I’m done, poof! The light goes off.”  “Wow, that’s incredible,” the doctor says.  A little later in the day, the doctor calls Larry’s wife.  “Bonnie,” he says, “Larry is doing fine! But I had to call you because I’m in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night, and poof, the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he’s done, poof, the light goes off?”  “Oh sweet Jesus”, exclaims Bonnie. “He’s peeing in the refrigerator again!”
