NOW HOW'S THAT FOR BEING A THOUGHTFUL HUSBAND EH:))

It was an icy cold wind Pheebs and I faced this morning so we only did half of our walk.  Our Jeep ride under cloudy skies was a short one as well.  Autumn's changing leaves need sunshine to highlight their leafy colors but our forests are still predominately on the dark green side.  However, I did manage a few leafy photos anyway.

RECENT RAINS HAVE CREEKS AND RIVERS FLOWING FAST

Our winter birds, the Dark-Eyed Juncos, are back from their summer haunts in the North.  They returned last week and have been bouncing around in our front yard ever since.  They will be here until next April sometime when it starts to warm up.  We're seeing more Blue Jays now as well.

A cloudy cold and windy afternoon kept us inside.  Pheebs didn't even want to go out.  It was a good day for doing inside stuff.  We have 2 Hoover vacuum cleaners with one being a plug-in and the other one a battery-operated model.  The belt broke on the plug-in vacuum last summer so while in Spencerport NY Kelly picked up a new belt for it.  She had ordered a new one four months ago but it's probably still sitting in a big container on a slow boat from China just offshore from Los Angeles.  Today, Kelly installed the new belt.  She figured out the mechanics of how to get the belt in and I supplied the muscle to snap things into place.  Yesireeee, we're quite a team alright.  She brings the brains and I bring the brawn.

KELLY RE-ASSEMBLES THE VACUUM CLEANER
IT WAS A GOOD AFTERNOON FOR A SNOOZE

MACDONALD'S COFFEE CUPS COME WITH A STICKER ON THEM AND WHEN YOU GET YOUR SIXTH CUP OF COFFEE IT'S FREE...I ALWAYS SAVE MY McD'S CUPS FOR kELLY AND IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE ENOUGH STICKERED CUPS SAVED UP WHILE SHE WAS AWAY TO GET HER FOUR FREE CUPS OF COFFEE....NOW HOW'S THAT FOR BEING A THOUGHTFUL HUSBAND EH:))
Here we are closing in on Halloween already.  How did that happen so fast.  Geeezzzz the next thing we know it will be Christmas.  Oh perish the thought.
GROANER'S CORNER:((
Seeing her friend Sally wearing a new locket, Meg asks if there is a memento of some sort inside.  "Yes," says Sally, "a lock of my husband's hair."  "But Larry's still alive."  "I know, but his hair is gone."

After the revival had concluded, the three pastors were discussing the results with one another.  The Methodist minister said, "The revival worked out great for us! We gained 4 new families."  The Baptist preacher said, "We did better than that! We gained 6 new families."  The Presbyterian pastor said, "Well, we did even better than that! We got rid of our 10 biggest trouble makers!"

THEY BOTH GOT WET BUT DIDN'T CARE

A RAINY DAY IN THE BAYFIELD HARBOR
Have I mentioned how great it is to have Kelly home again??  Of course I have and I will continue to say and think that from now until forever:))

A WET START TO THE DAY
TOO WET TO WORK ON THE BAYFIELD BRIDGE TODAY

THIS PHOTO AND THE ONE BELOW WERE TAKEN RECENTLY OF THE BRIDGE BY PAPPLE AVIATION BASED SOUTH OF SEAFORTH ONTARIO
Rained all night and rained all day and at 45F with a breeze it felt darn well cold and damp.  Of course, it is to be expected at this time of year and I sure can't complain about the nice Autumn weather we have been having.

HARBOR PICNIC TABLES STACKED AND WAITING FOR THE RETURN OF NEXT SUMMER'S SAILING SEASON
Despite the rain, it was Kelly and Pheebs first morning walk in about two and half months.  They both got wet but didn't care, it was just great to be out walking together again Kelly said.  And Pheebs agreed.

DESPITE THE RAIN DOWNTOWN BAYFIELD LOOKED BUSY TODAY
 SOME RAINY DAY COLOR
It was a short ride later into and around Bayfield.  Nobody working on the new bridge today because of the rain.  Most of the sailboats in the harbor have been taken out of the water.  Next, all the docks will be taken out of the water as well.  The docks have to be taken out because the harbor is a river that generally freezes over during the winter.  When that ice breaks up in the spring and the river surges, it would break up all those docks and sweep them out into the lake.

It was a good day for sitting quietly in my sunroom recliner beside the fireplace reading.  That is after Kelly got the fireplace working.  When she was the manager at Deer Park Lodge years ago she was constantly called upon by cabin renters to come and get their gas fireplaces going or troubleshoot a problem.  She became quite knowledgeable so here at home she is our head technician.  I tried half a dozen times to get that stove working right a while ago but had no success.  Five minutes after looking at it Sunday night Kelly had it up and running.  But, it didn't stay running right, so today she took the time to track down a secondary problem and it is now totally operational again and running great.  I had the sunroom so toasty warm this afternoon I could hardly stay awake......so I didn't.

KELLY GETS OUR LITTLE GAS STOVE GOING SUNDAY AFTERNOON
MONDAY AFTERNOON SHE TACKLES A SECONDARY PROBLEM AND FIXES THAT ONE TOO
How great late this afternoon to once again smell a nice aroma drifting out of the kitchen.  Spaghetti and meatballs.  Have I mentioned how great it is to have Kelly home again and how nice for her to finally get a full night's sleep.  And a big afternoon snooze today as well.

GROANER'S CORNER:((    Three guys are trying to sneak into the Olympic Village in Atlanta to scoop souvenirs and autographs. The first says, "Let's watch the registration table to see if there's a crack in the security system that we can utilize to scam our way in."

Immediately, a burly athlete walks up to the table and states, "Angus MacPherson. Scotland. Shotput." He opens his gym bag to display a shotput to the registration attendant.  The attendant says, "Very good, Mr. MacPherson. Here is you packet of registration materials, complete with hotel keys, passes to all Olympic events, meal tickets, and other information."

HOT DOG! The first guy grabs a small tree sapling, strips off the limbs and roots, walks up the registration table and states: "Chuck Wagon. Canada. Javelin."  The attendant says, "Very good, Mr. Wagon. Here is your packet of registration materials, hotel keys, passes, meal tickets, and so forth. Good luck!"

The second guy grabs a street utility manhole cover, walks up the registration table and states: "Dusty Rhodes. Australia. Discus."  The attendant says, "Terrific, Mr. Rhodes. Here is you packet of registration materials, hotel keys, a full set of passes, and meal tickets. Enjoy yourself."

They scamper in, but suddenly realize the third guy is missing. They groan - OH NO. He is not too bright. They forgot to make sure he doesn't do something stupid and blow their cover stories.  They spot him walking with a roll of barbed wire under his arm. He walks up the registration table and states: "Foster Bean. USA. Fencing."

KELLY MADE IT HOME SAFE AND SOUND:)))))

 HAPPY TO BE HOME
I think it was somewhere around noon when the phone rang.  It was Kelly, she was across the border, back into Canada, and stopped at a Tim Hortons for coffee in Brantford, Ontario.  She said there was no problem crossing the border and she had been the only one there.  They gave her two covid testing kits to bring home with her.  She sent a text when she reached Woodstock 45 minutes later saying she was tired but well on her way.  It was with great anticipation about an hour later when I began watching out the window for the white car to appear.  And then, at 2:25p.m. there was the white Pontiac Sunbird rolling into our driveway.  Kelly was home at last.  I waited until she was stopped then shouted excitedly to Pheebs, "Mom's Home".   And the scramble was on as we headed out the door:))

 YAAAAAAY MOM'S HOME
AND PHEEBS GETS A NEW SQUEAKY CHICKEN
ANY SNACKS IN THAT BAG FOR ME MOM??
Rain in the night but we woke up to a nice sunny morning.  The air was cool but with no wind, it was a comfortable morning walk for both Pheebs and I.

SUNDAY MORNINGS SETTING MOON
AFTER RAIN IN THE NIGHT IT WAS NICE TO SEE A BLAST OF MORNING SUNSHINE AHEAD AS PHEEBS AND I ROLLED OUT OF THE PARK
HEADING EAST TO OUR WALKING SPOT JUST A FEW MILES DOWN THIS ROAD
WE'VE GOT PAWS AND BOOTS ON THE GROUND
 ON OUR WAY TO GODERICH
Following our walk, we were off to Goderich to pick up a few groceraries, grab a coffee at McDonalds, swing ourselves down around the harbor, and head for home.  A few last things to straighten up before Kelly gets home.  Some might think the only thing needing straightening up would be me.

A SWING DOWN AROUND THE HARBOR AND THEN WE HEADED HOME
After 78 days away it sure is nice having Kelly home.  The Bayfield Bunch is back together again.  Kelly's sister Becky flew up from Florida a week or so ago and has taken over looking after their mother now for a while so that is a big help.  Kelly sure is happy to be home and we are sure happy to have her home:)))))
GROANER'S CORNER:((
One night, a man on his way home happened upon a drunk, down on his hands and knees searching for something under a street light. The man asked the drunk what he was looking for so diligently and the drunk said he had tripped and his Rolex wristwatch had broken loose from his wrist. The man, being a kindhearted soul, got down on his hands and knees and began assisting the drunk looking for his watch. After about ten minutes without any success, the man asked the drunk exactly where he tripped. "About a half a block up the street," the drunk said. "Why, pray tell," the man asked the drunk, "are you looking for your watch here if you lost it a half a block up the street?" The drunk replied, "The light is a lot better here."

Q: What do you call a midget fortuneteller on the run from the law?

A: A small medium at large.

Little Johnny wasn't very good at spelling. During an oral spelling exam, the teacher wrote the word "new" on the blackboard.  "Now," she asked Johnny, "what word would we have if we placed a "K" in the front?"  After a moment's reflection, Johnny said, "Canoe?"
