Sunday night, with ice cream cones in hand from Rosie's Ice Cream Shoppe, we headed down to Bayfield's beach to watch the sunset. With not much in the way of clouds in the sky, the sunset wasn't too spectacular. But still nice.

With a brisk east wind blowing the 33°F temperatures around, I had to cut my morning walk short, and beat a retreat back to the warm car. Instead of heading home, I decided to cruise around a few country roads in search of corn spills or cobs. I got lucky and found over a dozen partial cobs mushed into the soft earth that a combine had left behind. Home again, I put the wet corn cobs in a pail and set it on our sunroom fireplace to let the wet cobs dry out a bit.

I think it was early afternoon when we piled into the car and headed off to Grand Bend. Woodsy, feeling better today, was after some bargoons. And, she found them. A second stop at Grand Bend's Highway Girl Cafe for two coffees and two morning glory muffins to go. They make the greatest muffins there. From Grand Bend, we wandered along a number of paved backroads in the direction of Clinton. Woodsy wanted to stop into Elliott's Liquidation to see what she could find. She came out empty-handed. She didn't like their prices today. Luckily, I didn't go in and buy something we absolutely didn't need, like maybe a pair of roller skates or something. No matter, it was a beautiful Autumn day for a scenic drive through the multi colored countryside.

Earlier this morning, while I was out, the first half of a double-wide new model home rolled into the Park. Woodsy told me she saw it going by, so when I got back, I walked down to the site and took a few pics. Due to the muddy ground from recent rains, they were definitely having some difficulties. By the time we got back from our Grand Bend drive and I walked over to the site again, that section was finally on its concrete pad. And, at the exact same time I arrived at the site, the second half of the double-wide rolled in, being towed by a big truck.

Also, this afternoon I saw a group of people at the far end of the Park's pond with an ATV towing a trailer loaded with shrubs and trees, and they were busy planting. Adam, the Park's owner, had told me last week that well over two thousand shrubs, trees, and plants, were going to be planted around the Park and especially in the Park's south end, where so much damage had been done. Thanks to the new owners and our community's volunteers, our already beautiful Park just keeps getting more beautiful. |

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The middle-aged man was visibly shaken when his Doctor advised that he had only 6 months to live because of the terminal disease that was detected during a recent physical check-up. The Doctor suggested that he should get his "house in order", make sure his Will was current, and ensure all final arrangements were in place for the funeral. He should then make plans to enjoy what might be left of his life to the fullest. "What will you do for the last six months?" asked the Doctor. His patient thought for a few minutes, then replied, "I think I'll go and live with my Mother-in-law". Surprised by the answer, the Doctor asked, "Of all people, why in the world would you want to live with your Mother-in-law?" "Because it'll be the longest six months of my Life!"--------------------------------------

"What flavors of ice cream do you have?" inquired the customer. "Vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate," answered the new waitress in a hoarse whisper. Trying to be sympathetic, the customer asked, "Do you have laryngitis?" "No..." replied the new waitress with some effort, "just vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate."

The last sun photo is like none I have ever seen. You have an image of the whole sun even though it has slipped below the waterline. Pretty cool. Much to enjoy in today's post. Thanks, Al.
ReplyDeleteI also feel amazed by that sun photo!
DeleteYou live in a beautiful area. In our area they are always looking for volunteers to foster senior dogs maybe some shelters in your area are similar- Mary
ReplyDeleteThey had similar cows where we used to live. Called them Dutch Belteds or Oreo Cookie cows. Some are double stuffed! lol
ReplyDeleteWondered also how they would join those two halves. Must be tough to get it perfectly lined up. Glad it's not up to me *grin*.
ReplyDeleteThe mark of a great society is when men plant trees, knowing they will not live long enough to sit in their shade.
ReplyDeleteSociety is trying SO hard. Wish government would give us a break!
DeleteThursday @ 8:50 am....Good Morning, Al - your photography is just as special today as I drink my coffee. Lots of beautiful trees - ours are just starting to turn colors. And, in the artwork - the dark cowboy with the glowing pumpkin kind of makes me think of Icabod Crane. It's raining & gloomy today - but, I'll struggle through. Take care, Al. Elbows Up.!
ReplyDeleteFun to take a peek at the beach activity while the trees are turning pretty colors. Those maples are beautiful. Love the spotted leaves in the first pic too. We have a lot of those modular homes in our area and some are just beautiful. Glad they figured out the mud! Wonderful witchy pics, all of them.
ReplyDeleteHave you stopped posting Al ? I definitely miss your daily posts ! :(
ReplyDeleteThe owner of your park is having a big positive impact by the sound of it.
