UROLOGIST APPOINTMENT WENT FINE TODAY

DSC_0005

I WAS SURPRISED TODAY TO SEE THIS NICE SPLASH OF VARIED COLORS ON OUR BIRD STATION

In a previous photo last week I guessed this red headed Chap to be a Red Bellied Woodpecker and someone in our Shout Box said ‘nope’ it was a Flicker.  We do occasionally have Northern Flickers drop by but this is not a Northern Flicker.  I’m sticking with Red Bellied Woodpecker.  Maybe we’re both wrong and it’s simply a Great Horned Owl:))

ALSO ON OUR FEEDER TODAY I WATCHED WITH GREAT AMUSEMENT AS THESE TWO FINE FURRY LITTLE FELLOWS SKAMPERED ABOUT VYING FOR THE BEST PLACE AT THE FOOD TABLE…..CHIPPY KEEPS A WARY EYE ON SQUIRRELY AS HE QUICKLY FILLS HIS CHEEK POUCHES WITH SEEDS

NOT TO BE OUTDONE SQUIRRELY FINDS HIS OWN SPOT AT THE TABLE

Only thing worth mentioning tonight was an appointment today with my Urologist and now that I’ve just mentioned that it really doesn’t give me anything else to write about.  Maybe tomorrow.  All was A-OK at the Urologist.  I have two more medical appointments this month and if my luck holds I should be good to go for the summer.

HERE I AM IN MY COMFY CORNER OF THE OUR SUNROOM READING EARLIER THIS EVENING…..I LOVE DAT SPOT AND I’M READING CHAUNCEY CANFIELD’S ‘ DIARY OF A FORTY NINER MINER  (LIFE IN THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH)

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A wealthy man died and went to heaven. He was met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter who led him down the streets of gold. They passed mansion after mansion until they came to the very end of the street. Saint Peter stopped the rich man in front of a little shack.“This belongs to you,” said Saint Peter.“Why do I get this ugly thing when there are so many mansions I could live in?” the man demanded.“We did the best we could with the money you sent us!”

I do not know if you have ever heard of it but I have a wonderful App on my phone called, Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab, it is free and it has helped me identify a bird more then once.

  6. That is a very nice pic of you in your sunroom. I have a conservatory that needs to be remodeled. I would like to replace it with something that looks like your sunroom. It's such a cosy and light looking room. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Love the birds and the reading nook. Sometime would you mind posting a picture of the 'table' for the birds and furry critters please? I'd love something like that up here on the Ridge and just wanted to see it from a distance. Thank you Al, glad too that your appt. went well.

  11. Hi, Al! I have read your blog for several years and love your stories and pictures. You take some of the best wildlife pictures I have ever see on a blog. I do enjoy them. But I have a question for you and you may have answered it already. What kind of flowers are those yellow ones with the red edges? I love flowers, but I don't think I have ever seen any like that. Thank you for all your "groaners", pictures and stories. Ann M

  12. Flickers are members of the woodpecker family and the names are sometimes used interchangeably .. everyone is correct. Love the photos, the sun room, the groaners. Especially love the bill of good health! Keep heading in that direction!
