THIS MORNING I ACTED AS WITNESS TO THE SALE OF A SAILBOAT

PHEEBS IS PRETTY PROUD OF A TREAT SHE GOT AT THE VET’S TODAY

Turned out to be a different kind of morning than our usual longer Jeep ride routine although Pheebs and I did get out for a short doodle around 8:30.  My old home town buddy Len from Barrie Ontario whom I had not seen since the early 80's had left a message on my Facebook saying he would be in Bayfield this morning around 9 a.m. to look at and probably buy the sailboat I had taken photos of for him Thursday morning.  By a bit of a fluke I was able to track him and the boat's owner down in a Bayfield restaurant about 9:30.  Boat negotiations were in full swing and I was able to get in on it by acting as and signing as a witness to the sale.   Half an hour later with me in the passenger seat of Len’s car holding his little cutsy patootsie dog Cujo we followed the boat's owner to a bank in Clinton Ontario where monies changed hands and the boat deal was a done deal.  Back to the restaurant (Renegades) in Bayfield where Len bought me lunch and a half hour later or so he and Cujo were on their way back to Barrie Ontario where he had a 3 p.m. appointment.  It’s about a 135 mile drive.

AND THIS IS LITTLE CUJO:))

Len and I are from the same small town of Tavistock Ontario and our friendship began way back in the mid 60's.  For both Len and I it was the beginning of many turbulent years for both of us.  I won't get into any of that but maybe someday I'll feel comfortable enough to write about some of the things that went on back then in what I sometimes refer to now as 'the bad old days.  Len ended up going down an even harder road than I did but I'm happy to say he too finally reached a point where he with the help of others was able to turn his life around a number of years ago.  We touched on things in our conversation today and I'm sure we'll touch on a lot more over the next while as he has to come back and make some arrangements for the boat over the winter.   In the Spring he will return to sail the boat north up along the Lake Huron shoreline, around the tip of the Bruce Peninsula at Tobermory and across Georgian Bay to where I believe there is a waterway leading inland to Lake Simcoe and Barrie Ontario.

Weather-wise we had an absolutely gorgeous sunny day with temperatures pushing the almost tropical mark of 50 degrees.  Windy, but nice.  Pheebs had a Vet appointment for 2 o’clock in Zurich for a booster shot to her anti-tic vaccine shot she received three weeks ago.  At that time we had found a tick on the back of her neck and yesterday I found one under her neck.  She is always such a good little girl at the Vet’s.

Sometimes it’s hard for my brain to keep up with my fingers flitting about furiously on my computer’s keyboard.  The words are coming easy and the thoughts even easier.  It’s almost as if I could use a seat belt on my chair to insure myself from bubbling out of it.  Then there are times like tonight when the only movement my fingers are making is a slow approach somewhere in the direction of my juice glass.  It’s times like this when it’s inevitably hard for my brain to even catch up to my seemingly slow motion fingers.  So here I sit tonight dead in the water trying to think of something to say for an ending paragraph.  Just hit the ‘publish’ button Al and let it go flying off into the night or maybe in this case ‘lumbering’ off into the night might be more of an accurate description……..Okay, that’s what I’ll do.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  One day St. Peter saw a street gang walking up to the Pearly Gates.  St. Peter ran to God and said, "God, there are some low-life street gang members at the Gates. What do I do?"  God relied, "Just do what you normally do with that type. Redirect them."  St. Peter went back to carry out the order, but he suddenly came running back and yelling, "God, God, they're gone! They're gone!"  "The street gang?"  "No, the Pearly Gates!"

Two girlfriends were speeding down the highway at well over 90 mph. "Hey," asked the brunette at the wheel, "see any cops following us?"  The blonde turned around for a long look. "As a matter of fact, I do.""Oh No" exclaimed the brunette. "Are his flashers on? The blonde turned around again. "Yup...nope...yup...nope....yup....."

  5. Hope Pheebs doesn't get "ticked" any more. Good to see you get up with an old mate Al. Good (and better of course) memories are always good for the soul. Happy Belated Turkey Day, even though it's not a Canada thing.
