Turned out to be kind of a drudgery-doo day with temps hoovering around the freezing mark under cloudy skies and rain mixed with a wee bit of sleet here and there. Pheebs and I headed out anyway and wandered up to Goderich. Before heading to Walmart to pick up a few things we took us for a cruise down around both sides of the harbor.

I'M WONDERING IF THIS MIGHT BE A PAIR OF 'COMMON MERGANSERS'
I NOTICED GODERICH'S COAST GUARD VESSEL 'CAPE DISCOVERY' IS BACK FROM IT'S WINTER HIBERNATION
SPOTTED THIS PAINTED ON A TRAIN CAR NEAR THE DOCKSBesides needing a little wood glue for my bird station project I also decided to grab myself a Black & Decker one cup coffee maker. I occasionally get the hankering for a cup of coffee during the day but the biggest reason for me buying the $21.96 coffee maker is to get myself into the habit of making my own morning 'country road' coffee for when Pheebs and I head out. We are trying to 'cut a few costs' here at the Bayfield Bunch. Gotta pay for all those expensive Motorhome repairs ya know. Anxious to try the coffee maker out I fired it up this afternoon and brewed myself up a totally excellent cup of coffee in the tall travel mug that came with it. A mighty fine tasting cup of coffee if I do say so myself. I was surprised because I figured I'd end up with something tasting like a cup of Mississippi sludge. Sometimes I just get plum lucky and why that is I have no idea.

Also while at Walmart I picked up a new wristwatch on the spur of the moment. Well sort of that is. The leather band on my current Walmart watch has been beyond tattered for awhile now and when I spotted this new watch while sailing past the jewellery counter I noticed first the big easy to read face then the expansion watch band. Price tag was a whopping $11.97 and the watch is made by Accutime. Hey don't laugh it's got a 3 hour guarantee:))
YESIREEEEE I WON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE SEEING THIS ALRIGHT....NOPE DON'T NEED NONE OF THAT THERE FANCY BRAIN TWISTING SCHMIDGITAL DIGITAL MALARKEY FOR THIS 20TH CENTURY MAN
NEW WATCH AND FIRST CUP OF COFFEE FROM MY NEW COFFEE MAKER....THAT SCAR YOU SEE ON MY WRIST IS FROM A SURGEON'S SCALPEL WHEN HE HAD TO PUT MY WRIST BACK TOGETHER AFTER A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT YEARS AGOKelly picked up a real nice outdoor mat a few days ago at the Hive Of Bayfield in town. What makes these Mad Mats so great is the fact they are made of a unique recycled plastic formula combining UV protectorates with 25 colored threads producing over 120 different designs. The tubular threads don't absorb water, dirt, or stains of any kind. Mat is easily washed off with a garden hose and they are also reversible with a different design color on the other side. Water drains through the mat quickly so it doesn't rot or mildew wood decking. A lady at the store told Kelly they can be left outside all winter and still look good in the Spring. Soon as I saw the mat and read about it I thought how great this would be for an outside RV mat. This Mad Mat rolls up smaller than a lot of the RV mats we've seen and had. The four sizes in feet come in 4x6, 5x8, 6x9, and 30x8. Below is the 4x6 mat Kelly bought and it's on our outside rear deck now. The Hive is also on Facebook.
NEW MAT ON OUR BACK DECK
NEW MAT ON OUR BACK DECK AFTER IT RAINED TODAYThankfully I woke up re-energized this morning but due to a rainy day I wasn't able to get outside and take advantage of it. Too cold and damp. Reminded me of one of those absolutely horrid cold gray rainy November days. At least I was able to get a couple pieces of my bird station project glued together. Of course I haven't tried to move it yet and with my expertise I have probably somehow glued it to the carpet.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( You might be a redneck if...….You need one more holes punched in your card to get a freebie at the House of Tattoos.
You need an estimate from your barber before you get a haircut.
You have flowers planted in a bathroom appliance in your front yard.
Your wife weighs more then your refrigerator.
You move your refrigerator and the grass underneath it has turned yellow.
You mow your lawn and find a car.
You can spit without opening your mouth.
Going to the bathroom in the middle of the night involves putting on shoes and a jacket and grabbing a flashlight.

Enjoy that new coffee maker, I don't like to spend the money on coffee to go have always brewed our own at home , very rareIy buy one anywhere (two cheap). looks like you have a nice machine and love that mat another nice addition, Hopefully it will warm up a but soon. For all of us.
ReplyDeleteLove that boxcar art. Nice coffee maker also.
ReplyDeleteThose one cup Black and Decker coffee makers are pretty great, Al. Sure can’t beat the price!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions. I am tempted to buy that single cup coffee maker. I make two cups per day in my Bunn but it's the regular 12 or is it 10 cup maker. A single large cup maker would be much more efficient. That mat sounds interesting enough for me to check out their website, thanks Kelly. I like that price of watch and had one a few years ago from Walmart. I now have a computer on my wrist so I can track my heart rate and have automatic warnings if I were to pass out from any health issue. I need some way to call 911 since the hounds cannot do that. :) Your weather sounds like my weather here in 'the tropics' of Southern Indiana.
ReplyDeleteLove the mat!
