GROANER'S CORNER(( A fire started on some grasslands near a farm. The county fire department was called to put out the fire. The fire was more than the county fire department could handle. Someone suggested that a nearby volunteer bunch be called. Despite some doubt that the volunteer outfit would be of any assistance, the call was made. The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. They rumbled straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped! The firemen jumped off the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the center of the fire, breaking the blaze into two easily-controlled parts.Watching all this, the farmer was so impressed with the volunteer fire department's work and was so grateful that his farm had been spared, that right there on the spot he presented the volunteers with a check for $1,000. A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain what the department planned to do with the funds. "That ought to be obvious," he responded, wiping ashes off his coat. "The first thing we're gonna do is get the brakes fixed on our fire truck!"

Love your pictures and can smell the liars , we had so many at our last house. Tomorrow should be a better day for you, the weather not so much though.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures!

ReplyDeleteNo matter how you feel, your pictures are always worth looking at what did your mortal enemy the Red Squirrel do today?
What a beautiful place to call home!
ReplyDeleteIs that last picture a Chocolate Lily? Didn't know they were found that far east! Always great pictures
ReplyDeleteNo Jeff it's a type of tulip.
DeleteBeautiful pictures and the Groaner's Corner always makes me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteEven with just a few words, the magnificent photos make for a wonderful post tonight.
ReplyDeleteEverything abloom and Spring calves, beautiful to see. Thanks for sharing. Spring just starting here with leaves coming out and a green tint in the yard. That firetruck Groaner was great also.
ReplyDeleteYour photos made my day better! Those sweet cow faces - priceless.
ReplyDeleteI don't catch up very often... but have always enjoyed your great photos and of course, love your Groaners. But want you to know that sometime (Years?) back, you posted about your Black Rapid harness. I read that way back then and was actually given one (the one that is a triple holder) as a gift. That harness is WONDERFUL! I often walk with my binoculars hooked on one side, my camera on the other (okay, so I don't use the middle one so much)... but it leaves my hands free but everything I want within easy reach. If I hadn't read your blog I'd never have known about this apparatus. I'm sorry you're having a bad day, but maybe thanking your for your blog (whenever that was) will cheer you up a bit. I should catch up more often. Thanks Again!
ReplyDeleteSpring seems to be late in your area but then perhaps that is normal. Our lilacs were done by the beginning of May.
