IT IS THIS AREA ALONG THE TOP OF THE BLUFFS THAT IS IN QUESTION |
ALL THOSE UNITS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD ARE SUPPOSEDLEY THREATENED BY BEACH EROSION AT THE BASE OF THE BLUFF BEHIND THEM |
On our way to Meneset north of Goderich we of course picked up a coffee at McDonalds and did our customary tour down around the harbour.
MORNING BEACH GOERS |
ONLY ONE SMALL RV AT THE BEACH |
I'M SURE LOTS OF FOLKS WOULD LIKE TO LIVE IN THIS KIND OF ENVIRONMENT BUT I AM NOT ONE OF THEM |
I WOULD BE HAPPY LIVING IN A HOUSE LIKE THIS.....IF IT WAS OUT IN THE COUNTRYSIDE SOMEWHERE |
I LOOK AT A STREET LIKE THIS AND IT JUST SCARES THE BE-JEEBERS OUT OF ME |
YEP, I DON'T MIND THE ONE FLOOR HOUSES AT ALL |
IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY YOU CAN SEE LAKE HURON BEHIND THOSE HOUSES UNDER CONSTRUCTION |
AT BOTTOM LEFT A PAVED PATHWAY DOWN TO THE BEACH CAN BE SEEN |
AN IMPRESSIVE CLUB HOUSE AND RECREATION CENTER |
THERE ARE ACRES AND ACRES OF MORE HOUSING TO GO IN YET |
I GOT A KICK OUT THIS SIGN....'BUY A HOME, GET A COMMUNITY'....I'LL TAKE THE HOME THANK YOU VERY MUCH BUT I DON'T WANT NO DARN COMMUNITY TO GO ALONG WITH IT |
A couple miles north of 'The Bluffs of Huron' is the Sunset Golf Club so we took a drive down a side road past the greens. I have always liked the looks of golf courses with their manicured greens and well thought out landscaping. Despite having my own set of golf clubs back in the late 60's I never did take to the game. Tried it maybe a dozen times and that was it. Might has something to do with my overall disinterest in sports. I never did care much for competitive things. Always has to be a winner and their always has be a loser and I guess I might have ended up too many times on the losing side of things.
AND TO THINK BIG RAILWAY ENGINES TOWING RAIL CARS ONCE CHUGGED AND STEAMED THEIR WAY ALONG HERE |
WISHED I KNEW WHAT THESE FLOWERS ARE,,,,I BET THE FURRY GNOME KNOWS:)) |
CATCHING A REST AFTER A BIG DRINK OF WATER |
===================
We checked out those communities quite a few years ago and love them crowded in like you showed. We may have options like that in our later years or an apartment (heaven forbid) not sure what our lifestyle will end up being when the time comes but we do have a lot of choices. for now.
ReplyDeleteGolf does not have to be a competition. Only people make it a competition. I have played golf for over 40 years now and never play in a competition. For me it is a nice walk with a little bit of club swing now and then. Score keeping is seldom done.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Cowboy would think exactly like you Al--maybe the house but not the community!
ReplyDeleteHow I agree with you about the crowding! Many neighborhoods here look about like your photos. The only difference is that the houses are much larger and very expensive. If someone in the house next door coughs, and a window is open, you could hear them. I was astonished a few years ago to discover a neighborhood where a person could not even walk around his house! The fence, and the neighbor's yard, starts at the side of the house!!! Thank goodness we are not quite that tightly packed in. And, you KNOW, we will be wondering about that phone call! I hope so much it wasn't bad news....
ReplyDeleteYears ago I bought a house next to a "trailer park." They were all 8' wide older units. On Sunday mornings, I like to take a cup of coffee out and sit by the pool.I had a tall Oleander hedge that gave me privacy, but didn't stop the sound. I couldn't believe what I would hear. "So you had a big party last night." "The steaks sure smelled good." "I didn't think that loud guy was ever going to leave." It went on and on. Poor people that live in a trailer court have no privacy. The nosey neighbors keep track of everything. Phil
ReplyDeleteThose are some expensive airplanes, way beyond my world. I enjoyed the history sign and learned something new. Now wondering about the phone call, RV or health?
ReplyDeleteAl, those flowers look like Sweet Peas to me. We see them this time of year along ditches and field edges. Colours from blue to pink to white. So far we're staying in our own single family home, not as private as yours, but it's ok. I sudder to think about where I'll end up once Mrs.F.G. Can't care for me.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do think they are sweet peas although I've never seen that color bloom around here. Deep pink/Beautiful. In fact, Haven't seen sweet peas since I was a youngster.
