ON A LONG DRIVE TO LOOK AT AN RV TODAY WE POPPED INTO THE VERY PLACE WE MET OVER 26 YEARS AGO

WE FINALLY GOT TO SEE OURSELVES A SUNSET TONIGHT

Weather people predicted skies to clear Friday about noon.  Didn't happen.  Weather folks predicted we'd wake up to clear skies and sunshine.  Didn't happen.  Oh well, loaded up the little Spoogs and off we went anyway.  At least skies were brighter Saturday morning than they were Friday morning.  Not a speck of snow left anywhere and many fields were green with winter wheat planted.  Paved roads were bare and dry while country roads were damp.  We did manage to find us a few photos finally.

Kelly spotted a 2003 24' Class C Winnebago Sprint for sale in Blair Ontario on the western outskirts of Cambridge.  Photos looked good and the price was certainly doable.  Of course we new that price for a 2003 to be a red flag but we decided to go have a look at it just in case it was the deal of the century.  Well long story short it was NOT the deal of the century.  We left Bayfield for the nearly 2 hour drive about 1 o'clock.  Skies began to clear and it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful sunny afternoon.  If one didn't know it was late December one would have thought is was a nice early April Spring day.  We arrived at our destination in Blair about 2:40 and within half a minute of exiting the Jeep I knew this RV was not for us.  It was in rough shape.  Rusty underneath, de-lamination with the sides rippled meant water had got in and rotted various spots.  The finish was faded bad and it was obvious the outside had not been cared for well.  Maybe a handyman with a lot of time, patience, and money could turn this Class C around but that was not us.  We were soon on our way home.

ON OUR WAY TO BLAIR I SPOTTED A COUPLE GUYS WORKING ON A ROOF....IT WAS A GOOD DAY FOR THAT

A BLAST FROM THE PAST THIS AFTERNOON AS WE PASSED BLAIR'S HISTORIC NICHOLSON'S TAVERN AS IT WAS KNOWN OVER 50 YEARS AGO WHEN I SPENT A FEW RAUCUS NIGHTS INTO THE WEE HOURS SWILLING BEER WITH A BUNCH OF THE BOYS....OH THE STORIES I COULD TELL

WE WERE SURE DISAPPOINTED WHEN WE SAW THE POOR SHAPE THIS CLASS C WAS IN

Over 26 years ago Kelly and I first met each other in a little coffee shop near the 401 southwest of Doon Ontario Near Conestogo College.  Our travels today took us near that very spot so we decided to swing around there and see if that coffee shop was still there.  Well the coffee shop business is long gone but the building is still there and now houses a Wimpy's Diner.  The parking lot was still the same and the doors leading into the building were still the same.  We parked the Jeep and for old time's sake we decided to go inside and order a couple Wimpy burgers to go.  The inside has been completely renovated of course and didn't resemble the coffee shop interior but no matter, I knew the exact spot where we first met.  Now there is a breakfast type nook where once a small table with two chairs once stood right beside the window.  Took a few pics and ordered our burgs while one of the waitress's took a photo of us sitting at the booth where our two people small coffee shop table once stood.  I wrote a post one time a few years back about how are meeting came about and if I can find that post sometime I will re-post it.

THIS WAS THE COFFEE SHOP WE MET IN...I ARRIVED BEFORE KELLY AND ENTERED A DOOR BY THAT ORANGE CONE ON THE RIGHT AND TOOK A SEAT AT THE FIRST TABLE....IMAGINE MY DELIGHT WHEN I SAW A BEIGE CAR PULL IN AND A FOXY LOOKING BLONDE GOT OUT AND ENTERED THE DOOR BY THE 'OPEN' SIGN ON THE LEFT

WE MET RIGHT THERE INSIDE STRAIGHT AHEAD

YEARS AGO THERE WAS A SMALL TABLE THERE BY THE WINDOW WITH TWO WOODEN CHAIRS

THE PLACE DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE IT DID WHEN WE MET

ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AUGUST 1RST 1993 I POSITIONED MYSELF HERE SO I COULD WATCH THE FRONT DOOR OF THE COFFEE SHOP AND SURE ENOUGH KELLY PARKED HER CAR OUT THERE WHERE YOU CAN SEE SOME VEHICLE, SHE ENTERED A DOOR OFF TO THE RIGHT AND WALKED TOWARDS MY TABLE WHERE YOU SEE THE WAITRESS STANDING...MY EYES WERE AS BIG AS SAUCERS AND THE REST AS THEY SAY IS HISTORY:)))))

I DON'T THINK I LOOKED AS GRUMPY BACK THEN AS I DO NOW BUT KELLY STILL LOOKS AS PRETTY AS EVER

PHEEBS EAGERLY WAITS FOR US TO RETURN WITH THE WIMPY BURGERS

AND BY GOLLY HERE THEY COME NOW

A nice drive back to Bayfield watching today's sun slowly setting.  I think it was the first sunset we've seen since leaving the southwest last March and what a nice feeling it was today to be actually going somewhere to see and do something.  Despite our disappointment in the Class C Motorhome not turning out to be what we had hoped for it really didn't put a dent in my day.  That 4 hour sunny drive to Blair and back is just what the Doctor ordered and I felt happily energized and rejuvenated again.  I felt like the traveling Bayfield Bunch was alive once more even if it was only for a few hours:))

- The patient is tearful and crying constantly. She also appears to be depressed.
- Discharge status: Alive but without permission.
- Healthy appearing decrepit 69 year-old male. Mentally alert but forgetful.
- The patient refused an autopsy.
- The patient has no past history of suicides.
- Patient has left his white blood cells at another hospital.
- Patient's past medical history has been remarkably insignificant with only a 40 pound weight gain in the past three days.
-Patient had waffles for breakfast and anorexia for lunch.
- She is numb from her toes down.
- While in the ER, she was examined, X-rated and sent home.
- Patient was alert and unresponsive.
- Rectal exam revealed a normal size thyroid.
- She stated that she had been constipated for most of her life, until she got a divorce.
- I saw your patient today, who is still under our car for physical therapy.
- Patient has two teenage children, but no other abnormalities.
