KELLY PASSES ANOTHER STRESS TEST IN LONDON THIS AFTERNOON

KELLY HEADS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY ON HER WAY TO LONDON
How nice when I slid back our living room's patio door to let Pheebs out early this morning and heard the twittering of a songbird nearby.  I couldn't readily identify the sound but if I had to guess, I would say it was a Robin.  What a wonderful sound of possibly an early Spring I thought to myself.  Just think, Spring will officially begin in less than a month from now on March 19th:))))))

Under sunny skies and above-freezing temperatures, it was Kelly in the Subaru rolling out of our driveway at 11 a.m. heading for London's University Hospital.  Being her fiercely independent self (we are so much alike) she had insisted all along that she did not need someone to drive her there today.  She had two back-to-back appointments beginning at 1 p.m.  One of those appointments was a physical stress test.

For our twice-monthly country road coffee runs it was Richard's turn to drive this morning.  Good thing because I'm not allowed to drive a vehicle for the next five weeks.  Just after 11 a.m. he carefully backed his van into our driveway and I, with my walker......opened our sunroom's patio door for him.  And you thought I was going to say I headed out the door and hopped into his van.  Nope, not quite yet.  With two Tim Hortons coffees and two Bran muffins in hand, Richard came in and we spent the next couple of hours in our usual fast-paced flowing conversation.  Good stuff.

PHEEBS WITH ONE HER TOYS TODAY
It was a week ago today that Kelly brought me home from the hospital.  Here are a few thoughts and recommendations about this past week.  First and foremost, if I had managed my pain medication better I could have saved myself a lot of unnecessary pain.  Relying on my mind to remind myself to take a pill every six hours let me down.  I should have set an alarm clock on the kitchen counter to go off at the correct times.  You folks with smartphones could easily program your phones to do this.  The biggest problem happens at night.  If you go to bed at 10 p.m. your next pill is due at no later than 4 a.m. and not at 6 a.m. when you wake up.  By then, the pill's effectiveness has worn off and you will wake up in pain.  And, take it from me, you do not want to do that!!!!  In fact, I would suggest you take that pain pill every 5 hours instead of 6.  If you have to wake yourself up in the middle of the night just to take the pill....do it!!  I've also found that pain induces negative thoughts and irritability.  I found this past week that whenever I was free of pain my mind was totally positive about my current situation.  The following week has seen a series of setbacks and improvements but it was this afternoon I felt the biggest improvement.  I found myself walking faster with the walker and being able to transfer more weight off the walker and onto my right leg.  I still need the walker to get around but I am now seeing a glimmer of light at the end of this week-long tunnel.......Kelly made it back from London this afternoon at 5:40 p.m.  She said everything went well and she passed her stress test with no problem.  She has another appointment a month from now.  She also said she had no problem driving there and back.  By the end of today, I was feeling very upbeat:))

KELLY HELPS ME GET MY PRESSURE STOCKINGS OFF TO GIVE MY LEGS A BREAK
I KNEW THE PRE-OP NURSE LAST TUESDAY WROTE SOMETHING ON MY RIGHT LEG BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS UNTIL WE GOT THE PRESSURE STOCKINGS OFF THIS MORNING
THIS WAS NO DOUBT FOR THE SURGEON TO MAKE SURE HE WAS OPERATING ON THE CORRECT LEG
Al's Music Box:)) The Days Of Wine And Roses is a popular song, from the 1982 movie of the same name. The music was written by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. They received the Academy Award for best Original Song for their work, as well as the 1964 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.  In 2004 it finished at #39 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema.  The song's lyric is notable for consisting of just two complex sentences, each of which forms one of the song's two stanzas.  The best-known recordings of the song were by  Billy Eckstine in 1961 and Andy Williams in 1963.  This is Andy Williams version.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A drunken Irishman gets on a train and asks the conductor how long the trip is between Limerick to Cork.  "About two hours," says the conductor.  "Okay," says the drunkard, "then how long is the trip between Cork to Limerick?"The irate conductor says to the   drunk, "It's still about two hours, laddie. Why'd ya think there'd be a difference?"  "Well," says the drunk, "it's only a week between Christmas and New Year's, but it's a helluva long time between New Year's and Christmas!"
