 NOT THE USUAL ECLIPSE PHOTO BUT IT IS A QUICK SHOT OF THE SUN DURING THE ECLIPSE

'Oh-Oh', it was a solid cloud cover we woke up to this morning and I knew that was not going to bode well for this afternoon's total Moon eclipse if it didn't clear up.

 WHILE VIEWING THE ECLIPSE IN OUR FRONT YARD THIS LITTLE BUNNY CAME RIGHT UP TO MY CHAIR TO ASK ME WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT

Luckily, our skies cleared by early afternoon and our temps shot up to 67F. and that had me outside and busy in our front yard for a few hours.  Of course, I have a lot of aches and pains going on but that is normal for me every year at this time with the Spring clean-up.  No aches or pain coming from my hip though.  It's mainly my lower back and legs as per usual.  Thanks to Kelly for getting us a couple pairs of lunar eclipse glasses that made it possible to watch the eclipse this afternoon.  It wasn't complete totality here (91.1%) but it was close with just a small sliver of sunlight on the west side.  Kelly watched it from our front deck and I watched it from a gravity chair in our front yard.  For me, I enjoyed how the stillness in the air descended upon our front yard hushing all the birds and making the afternoon surreal.

With my mood in a downward spiral during last week's cold, drab, and dreary weather I decided to continue the cheering-up of my mind through my reading.  Again, I wanted to awaken that young boy in me and have that fella once again be a part of other young people's and children's happy games and adventures.  So, I chose another book from Prince Edward Island's Lucy Maude Montgomery.  The Story Girl let my imagination romp and play through the fictional pages with Felix, Peter, Felicity, Sara Ray, Cecily, Dan, Beverly, and the Story Girl herself, Sara Stanley.  I finished the book today and haven't decided on my next read yet but in keeping with my present state of mind I'm sure it will once again be something light and breezy, flecked with humor, and of course, appealing to the much younger boy in me.  I liked my childhood, and in these times of stress, and craziness in the world, I let my mind playfully wander back to those happier days through authors and stories from people like Lucy Maude Montgomery.  Here is an example of the scenic pictures she continues to paint in my mind with each one of her books. "November dreamed that it was May.  The air was soft and mellow, with leafless beeches on the western hill.  The sere stubble fields brooded in glamour, and the sky was pearly blue.  The leaves were still thick on the apple trees, though they were russet hued, and the after-growth of grass was richly green, unharmed as yet by the nipping frost of previous nights.  The wind made a sweet, drowsy murmur in the boughs, as of bees among the apple blossoms."

Al's Music Box:)) A Teenager In Love is a song written by Doc Pomus and partner Mort Shuman. It was originally recorded by Dion and the Belmonts, and released in March 1959.  It was commissioned byLaurie Records, originally intended for the doo-wop singing group The Mystics. Laurie Records, however, gave the song to Dion & The Belmonts instead to record, and Pomus and Shuman then quickly wrote another song, "Hushabye" for the Mystics. Dion initially thought the song sounded "wimpy", but then realized the sound the song has when the Belmonts started singing "ooh-wah" at the start of the song. "A Teenager in Love" was released with "I've Cried Before" on its B-side in April 1959.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( It was autumn, and the Indians on the remote reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was an Indian Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and when he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side,he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared.  But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea.He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked,  "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"  "It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the Meteorologist at the weather service responded.  So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared.  One week later he called the National Weather Service again."Is it going to be a very cold winter?" he asked.  "Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied,"it's going to be a very cold winter."  The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find.  Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"  "Absolutely," the man replied. "It looks like it's going to be one of the coldest winters ever."  "How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.  The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy".

At school one morning the teacher asked little Johnny what he had for breakfast. Little Johnny said, well, on my way to school I came across this Apple tree, so I climbed up there and started eating apples. I guess I eat about six, said little Johnny. No, said the teacher, it’s ate! Little Johnny said well it could've been eight I don't remember.
