IT'S BEEN A TOUGH SIX MONTHS

ONE OF OUR FRONT YARD FROGS
A bright sunny day, but on the cool side.  Took a break from my outside activities and instead, Lorraine and I headed off to Goderich for stops at Food Basics, Hart, and McDonalds' for coffee to go.  Slipped down around the harbor, A&W for a double buddy burger, and a final stop at Walmart for a few things.  Home again, we later had a nice visit with our good neighbor Monica.  Monica had been anxious to meet Lorraine.  All in all, it was a good day.  Maybe not too darn exciting, but it's slowly getting better as both my mental and physical health continue to work their way back to normalcy.  It's been a tough six months.

Al's Music Box:))  Too Many Rivers is a studio album by American singer Brenda Lee. It was released on September 2, 1965, via Decca Records and was her thirteenth studio album. The disc consisted of 12 tracks that were mostly covers of songs recorded by other artists. Of its new tracks were two singles of Lee's: "Think" and "Too Many Rivers". Both tracks made record charts in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. The title track was the highest-charting single, reaching the US top 20 in 1965. The album was met with positive reviews from critics.  Considered a "child prodigy", Brenda Lee was 11 years old when she signed a recording contract with Decca Records in 1956. She began recording Rockabilly material and eventually graduated to pop material. Between 1959 and 1963, Lee had a series of US top ten singles, some of which topped the record charts. As the sixties decade progressed, Lee continued having chart records, but many fell into the US top 20 and were more commercially successful in other countries.  In 1965, Lee's single "Too Many Rivers" became a hit and would be the name of her next studio album.  Too Many Rivers was taken from sessions recorded between January 1964 and July 1965. The sessions were all held at the Columbia Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The recording sessions were all produced by Owen Bradley. Too Many Rivers was released by Decca Records on September 2, 1965. It marked the thirteenth studio album released in Lee's career.

Groaner's Corner:(( The new Ensign was assigned to subs, where he'd dreamed of working since a young boy.  He was trying to impress the Master Chief with his expertise learned in Submarine School.  The Master Chief cut him off quickly and said, "Listen, it's real simple. Add the number of times we dive to the number of times we surface. Divide that number by two. If the result doesn't come out even, don't open the hatch."

Why did the Pilgrims eat turkey at Thanksgiving?  Because they couldn't get the moose in the oven!

- Why do turkeys love R-rated movies?
Because they use fowl language.

- If pilgrims traveled on the Mayflower, what do college students travel on?  Scholar ships.

- What do Thanksgiving turkeys become after they die?  Poultrygeists.

A College student fell into a cycle of classes, studying, working and sleeping.  He didn't realize how long he had neglected writing home until he received the following note:  "Dear Son, Your mother and I enjoyed your last letter. Of course, we were much younger then, and more impressionable. Love, Dad."

  1. So glad you're beginning to feel yourself again, Al. Tough six months, darn near unbearable. Glad that neighbour Monica had a chance to meet Woodsy. Love the special photos today, as always. They're together again.
