NOT WANTING TO PAY THE RIDICULOUS SKYROCKETING PRICES

It was late Friday afternoon when I saw the first 'Severe Weather Alert' on my weather station.  A tornado watch was in effect as well.  I right away clicked on my Exeter 'live radar' site, and yes, there it was, a large, nasty-looking storm front barreling across Lake Huron, and we were in the line of fire again.  I grabbed my camera, zipped out the door, and hopped into the car heading for Bayfield's Pioneer Park.  I was hoping to get some pics of large, whirling dark gray storm clouds.  But it was not to be.  The sky was a solid mid-gray color, but looking along the shoreline to the north, I saw very dark gray skies.  The bulk of the storm was heading north of us from west to east.  With that, I headed back toward home but went right past our Park and out into the countryside for a better look at the sky.  While doing so, I happened to notice a colorful patch of sweet pea flowers on the north side of the road along the ditch.  Making a U-turn and ignoring an approaching storm cell, I went back to the patch of flowers I had just passed and pulled the car off the road alongside the gullied ditch.  I was aware that the thunder and lightning were ramping up and getting closer.   I had taken maybe half a dozen photos when, with a quick flash and immediate clap of thunder, the darkened sky opened up, and it was as if a dam broke as a deluge of water came tumbling out of the sky.  I was quickly into the Subaru, but even with the windshield wipers going full tilt, it was like I was parked under Niagara Falls.  Luckily, it only lasted about 5 minutes before it let up, skies brightened, and the sun almost came out.  Minutes later, I was home, and once again, as I stepped out of the car, I heard that darn 'Generator'sound and knew right away our power had been knocked out for the second time in a couple of days.  It was 7:30 and the power never came back on until 10:09 p.m. Friday night.

A PATCH OF SWEET PEA FLOWERS WITH STORM CLOUDS FAST APPROACHING
IT WAS ONLY SECONDS AFTER TAKING THIS PHOTO THAT THE STORM BROKE OVERHEAD AND SENT ME SCURRYING INTO THE CAR
I woke up to cloudy skies this morning with a pleasantly cool 66F outside.  72F in the house.  Cloudy skies are never very inspiring for me, but I knew I had better get myself outside and at least make an attempt to go somewhere or do something.  With a long-sleeved shirt over my short-sleeved shirt on this breezy, cool morning, out the door went I and headed off to my country road walking spot.  I had to get the cobwebs out of my legs from the inactivity of the past couple of days.  After my walk, and with a dull, sunless, unexciting landscape, I didn't bother wandering around the countryside and came right back home.
IF THESE TWO WERE TO COME TO BLOWS, IT IS THE MOURNING DOVE ON THE RIGHT THAT WOULD BOOT THE GRACKLE RIGHT OFF THE BIRD STATION
With a hankering for bacon & eggs this morning and not wanting to pay the ridiculous skyrocketing prices for bacon & eggs (Kate's Station south of Clinton over $17 and A&W now over $12), I wasn't long in hauling out the frying pan.  So, two eggs over easy, four slices of bacon, and two pieces of toast later, I had quite economically satisfied my hankering for bacon & eggs.......despite breaking both eggs when flipping them over.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A clergyman walking down a country lane sees a young farmer struggling to load hay back onto a cart after it had fallen off.  "You look hot, my son," said the cleric. "Why don't you rest a moment, and I'll give you a hand." "No thanks," said the young man. "My father wouldn't like it." "Don't be silly," the minister said. "Everyone is entitled to a break. Come and have a drink of water." Again, the young man protested that his father would be upset. Losing his patience, the clergyman said, "Your father must be a real slave driver. Tell me where I can find him and I'll give him a piece of my mind!"  "Well," replied the young farmer, "he's under the load of hay."
