NOTHING MUCH PLANNED FOR MONDAY, SO WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS

The snowstorm we were anticipating on Friday night never happened.  I don't know where it went, but it wasn't here.  Maybe the storm was having some GPS problems and lost its way.  Roads were slightly slushy Saturday morning due to all the road salt on them as I made my way to Goderich and back with a stop at Walmart.

It was a year ago Saturday that at 12:30 a.m. in the early morning hours, I called an ambulance for Kelly, and she was taken to the Goderich Hospital.  We didn't know at the time that when the paramedics carried Kelly out of the house to the waiting ambulance, she would not be coming home again.  These were difficult days.  I went to the hospital first thing in the morning, and she was still in Emergency before being moved to the ICU. (Intensive Care Unit) I couldn't help but sit in my recliner Saturday afternoon, reading my posts from a year ago.  It was a very sad time, with each post I read becoming even sadder.  Consequently, I didn't feel much like putting a post together.

On a more positive note, Lorraine (Woodsy) rolled in later Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m., bringing a ray of sunshine on what has been a long stretch of cloudy days.

Sunday:: Not much happening on this cold and damp, gray, slightly snowy, slightly rainy day.  With my snow shovel, I moved some of the wet snow around and replenished the bird feeders.  And that was about it for the day.  In other words, it was a good day for reading, bonking around on the computer, and watching some television.  I particularly enjoyed watching the series, 'How Disney Built Disneyland', Disney World, and how Disney affected the whole World in the end.  And of course, Sunday night is 'The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch'.  Nothing much planned for Monday, so we'll see what happens.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Joe heard a rumor that his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had all walked on water on their 21st birthdays.  So, on his 21st birthday, Joe and his good friend Brian headed out to the lake. "If they did it, I can too!" he insisted.  When Joe and Brian arrived at the lake, they rented a boat and began paddling. When they got to the middle of the lake, Joe stepped off of the side of the boat... and darn near drowned.  Furious and somewhat ashamed, he and Brian headed for home.  When Joe arrived back at the family farm, he asked his grandmother for an explanation. "Grandma, why can I not walk on water like my father, and his father, and his father before him?"  The feeble old grandmother took Joe by the hands, looked into his eyes, and explained, "That's because your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were born in January... you were born in July, dear."

- So, today, I told my team about the importance of dried grapes. It’s all about raisin awareness.
My mum told me that I can’t drive a car made of spaghetti. You should have seen her face when I drove pasta.
Why are Catholics so upbeat after church gatherings? Because they convert Mass into energy.
In my last job my wages were paid in vegetables. I left because I was unhappy with the celery.

It's been a couple of years since I actually worked in an office, so I thought I should do something to prepare to get back into typing, filing, and phone answering, and whatnot. So what I did was I had a friend of mine go with me down to the local swimming pool, and I had him tie me up in a burlap sack and sink me to the bottom of the pool. And then just as I was about to suffocate, he yanked me up and gave me a lunch break.

  1. Oh, Al, how sad that memory was for you. And sad that Kelly spent all the wee hours of the morning in Emerg instead of into ICU. Kelly knew you did all the things you could have done, and understood. She likely knew she wouldn't be coming home. Memories can be devastating, but sometimes the sad ones make you realize how very good the good memories were/area. And like the yellow butterflies on your farm road walk, you're intended to move forward.
So glad that Woodsy brightened your Sunday...attagirl, Woodsy. Crappy gray and cold days in winter are to be comfortable in your surroundings, and love your home.
