IT MIGHT BE A GOOD WAY TO GET MYSELF OUT OF MYSELF

Experiencing a few glitches between my new Tuckersmith TV connection and possibly my Apple Box, it was Andrew to the rescue Friday night.  I also had a few glitches with my Sirius Satellite Radio connection on my iPhone.  Andrew cleared that up as well as a few other things regarding App updates, etc.  About half an hour after Andrew left last night, my Tuckersmith TV connection blanked out again.  Oh dear, all this new-fangled technology stuff is enough to faceplant a grown man to the ground.  But wait....When I clicked on Tuckersmith early this afternoon.....it was working again and has been working fine all day.  But oh dear, about that Faceplant!!

AND YES, THE LITTLE CHIPPY DID GENTLY TAKE THAT PEANUT
 A LATE MORNING GROUP SNOOZE
Another perfect weather day, so after my walk it was off to Goderich's A&W I went with a 'Bacon n Egger' coupon in my hand, which included a hash brown and coffee.  Following that, I decided to do something that has been on my mind off and on for the past couple of years.  I slipped around to check out the facilities at the Goderich Huron YMCA.  I think the last time I was in this building was to attend a first-aid course when I was driving a wheelchair van part-time a dozen years ago for a company in Clinton called 'Town and Country'.  It is now called One Care.  And, the last time I was in any kind of a structured exercise class was when I did Daoist Tai Chi over twenty years ago, and I'm thinking now that I'm over eighty, it might be a good idea for me to try and get myself back into some kind of structured fitness classes.  I just don't seem to have the self-discipline it takes to do regular exercises on my own, but I don't like being in groups of people either.  Kind of a rock and a hard place scenario here, I think.  But psychologically, it might be a good way to get myself out of myself.  Anyways, I've moved a step closer from the thinking stage to the doing stage at least.  And hey.....I at least got myself into the building this morning.

On my way to and from Goderich this morning, I noticed area farmers busy with the wheat harvest.  Our summer season is sure moving along.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Three guys go in for a job interview, all at the same office. The first one goes in for his interview and the interviewer says, "What's the first thing you see when you look at me?" The guy says, "That's not too hard, you've got no ears." The interviewer says, "That's it, get out, you'll never be seen around here again." The second man takes his turn and is asked the same question. The applicant replies, "Uh, you've got no ears." The interviewer throws the guy out, cursing and yelling that he'll never get a job with his company. As he is leaving, the second guy warns the third guy, "Listen man, whatever you do, don't say he hasn't got any ears. He's so touchy with the ear thing." "Okay," said man #3 on his way into the office. Once inside he is told, "Name the first thing you notice when you look at me." The guy answers, "That's easy, you wear contacts." The interviewer was flabbergasted, "How on earth did you know that, son?" "What? Are you stupid? You can't wear glasses, you've got no ears!"

- Why did the one-handed man cross the road?  To get to the second hand shop.

- What's yellow and goes slam, slam, slam, slam?  A four-door banana.

- My rude neighbour came over banging on the door at 2.00am last night..........Luckily I was still up playing my drums!!

- I swear if my memory was any worse i could plan my own surprise party.

A young mother finds out she is pregnant again, and she tells the good news to anyone who will listen. One day when the woman and the boy are out shopping, a friend of the mother asks the little boy if he was excited about the new baby. "Oh, yes!" the little tyke says. And having overheard some of his parents' private conversations, he adds, "And I know what we are going to name it, too. If it's a girl, we're going to call it Mary, and if it's another boy we're going to call it Quits."

  1. Marilyn Struthers: Al, my Dad used to feed the chipmonks just like you do. I am in a "Step Down " program at my physical therapy place---a smal place 10 minutes from my house. Because I have been through P.T. I pay $30.00 per month and I go 3 times per week and work on my exercise program. I couldn't handle going to a gym. I work independantly on the exercises they gave me. They keep their eyes on me a bit and would tell me if I was doing something wrong. I can ask them questions---carefully of course---they may be working with others---I wait my turn and they may make sugguestions regarding my routines if it was time for a change. Exercising has never been my favorite thing to do but they tell me "motion is lotion" and it has now become part of the structure of my week. It is a happy place for me to go---although I wish I didn't need it but I am so thankful to have this place. I love the fact that it is small and I love the people there. I wish you had something like that. Take care though because movement is good for you.

  2. Barb M. Oh that Andrew is so helpful...how nice of him. What a great facility that YMCA is...quite the size. Good luck with your getting some exercise going. I get tired just thinking about it, haha. That Chippy...what a cute fella.

  3. I know I can always follow the wheat harvest through you. And glad you know the difference between hay and straw - I didn't for the longest time. My brother-in-law had a lot to do with the campaign to get the 'Y' built in Goderich.

  4. Your chipmunk is too dang cute! Always fun to have critters come to play. Your YMCA is so nice - wow! I imagine it gives folks a lot of things to do in your brutal winters. Getting in the building is a good start for sure :-)

  5. You are so fortunate to have that building gym near you and in such a small town. The One Care program sounds perfect for you. I'm envious!
