Thursday:: On my walk this sullen-looking morning, I happened to look at my watch and saw that it was 9:30. Being Thursday, I instantly thought of my good buddy Richard, who passed away nearly a year and a half ago. It was Thursday mornings, every second Thursday of the month at exactly 9.30 a.m sharp; whether I was driving or he was, we would head out on our usual two-hour country road drives with coffee and carrot muffins in hand. Our conversations were always non-stop and enjoyably meaningful. We knew each other for 50 years, and I miss my old friend dearly........It was after this that my day slid off the rails and went downhill. This alone wouldn't have caused my day to stumble, but combined with the weight of a few other things, it just became too heavy, and down I went. I couldn't even talk myself into heading out Thursday night for the Moon's eclipse, and it sounds like I missed a good one. My apologies to readers that I didn't think to let them know that I hadn't put out a post.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A judge was interviewing a woman regarding her pending divorce, and asked, "What are the grounds for your divorce?" She replied, "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property with a stream running by." "No," he said, "I mean, what is the foundation of this case?" "It is made of concrete, brick and mortar," she responded. "I mean," he continued, "What are your relations like?" "I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, and so do my husband's parents." He said, "Do you have a real grudge?" "No," she replied, "We have a two-car carport and have never really needed one." "Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?" "Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily like the music, but the answer to your questions is 'yes'." "Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?" "Yes," she responded, "about twice a week he gets up earlier than I do." Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, "Lady, why do you want a divorce?"
"Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I've never wanted a divorce. My husband does. He said he can't communicate with me."

A: Curt and Rod.
- Give me two hot dogs. One with mustard and one without." "Which one without?"

A Police officer approached a motorist stopped in the middle of the road before the river overpass, holding up traffic. The officer noticed the driver jotting on a notebook frantically. He asked the driver, what in the world are you doing? The driver replied, "The sign says Draw Bridge".

Gald you are back, Al, with your beautiful photos. Loved the photo with the touch of autumn.
ReplyDeleteNo apologies needed...ever! You and Richard shared so many interests. Hope Aunt Jean is hale and hearty again. Nice of you to drive Monica to get groceries, and what a nice surprise when Woodsy appeared at the door! Lovely hosta flowers. Too bad you missed that partial lunar eclipse, but I bet there are pictures of it all over the internet.

ReplyDeleteNice to have you back, you were missed. On my iPhone 17Pro, when I go to the Bayfield Bunch, it doesn't show the sidebar. However, if I scroll to the bottom of the post in the "fine print" it shows "View web version." By clicking on that, it brings up the blog again with the side bar. Take care.

ReplyDeleteHi, Al. I have a pretty good idea of at least one big downer for you this week. It has to do with your lake and the crazy world we are living in. Sure do hope I live to see some wrongs righted. I am 83 and there are a whole lot of wrongs that need correcting! A big hug for you from Texas.
