MAYBE IT WAS JUST MY TURN TO HAVE A DOWN DAY

Well here we are halfway through our Thanksgiving week-end.  Summer has been officially over for weeks now as we glide through Autumn bracing for the head long crash into Winter.  Definitely not looking forward to that crashing part.  Unless we can pull a rabbit out of a hat it looks like at this point we will end up stuck here for the entire winter.  I know it's inevitable sooner or later and for the past two years I've been trying to prepare myself for that eventuality.  I have not done very well.  Today was the first day I actually felt the dread of being stuck at home this winter.  Checking the internet every day there seems to be less and less used Class B and C RV's coming up for sale.  Well in our price range anyway.  Lots of new hundred thousand dollar stuff out there of course but that's not for us.  I don't know, maybe it was just my turn to have a down day...……………..
WITH TWO DAYS OF STRONG WINDS LAKE HURON IS STILL RUMBLING ASHORE
BAYFIELD'S CALM INNER HARBOR AND NOTICE THE MASTS OF STORED SAILBOATS
MORE AND MORE BOATS ARE BEING HAULED OUT OF THE WATER EVERY DAY NOW
TAKING TOO LONG TO TAKE A FEW PHOTOS PHEEBS TOOTED THE HORN AT ME
IT WAS A NICE SUNDAY MORNING IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

GROANER'S CORNER:(( What's the difference between a Yankee zoo and a Redneck zoo? On the cage in a Yankee zoo, it will have the name of the animal and the scientific name in Latin.  A Southern zoo will have the name of the animal and a recipe.

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture."Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, She's dead."

FOREST WALK, MYSTERY PANTS, AND OUR SHORTENING DAYS ARE GETTING COLDER

NICE TO BE IN A FOREST OUT OF TODAY'S ICY COLD WIND
Overnight rains left us with cloudy skies, lower temperatures and cold icy west winds this morning.  No matter, Pheebs and I were out anyway and took ourselves for a spin to Goderich.  Gas, groceries, and a swing down around the harbor and beach areas. (Skies later cleared)
LAKE HURON WATERS WERE ROUGH THIS MORNING
Instead of going straight home we popped ourselves into a forest in Goderich's southeast corner.  I knew with the protection of trees we would be out of the wind, and we were.  Hadn't been on this section of trail since last year so it was nice to re-discover things again.  Being a swampy area it's not a good place to hike in the summer with all the Mosquitos and biting Deer flies but in this superb Autumn weather there are no bugs.  Nice:))

Can't say it was a very productive afternoon.  With temps hoovering in the low forties plus a wind chill factor it was just too easy to stay inside where it was cozy and warm.  Oh Dear what am I going to do when it really gets cold like way below freezing and all that nasty stuff.  I'm best not to think about all that I guess.
THIS TRAIL DOES HAVE A NAME BUT OF COURSE I HAVE FORGOT WHAT IT IS
IS THAT THE HEAD OF A PYTHON I SEE THERE
VEGITATION MIGHT NEED A BIT OF TRIMMING HERE SOON
THICK FOLIAGE
LOOKS LIKE THE OLD BRIDGE IS ABOUT TO BE REPLACED
Rummaging around in the top of my closet today I found four pairs of neatly folded pants I forgot I had.  No idea how long they have been up there and I have no recollection of ever putting them there.  Called in our head investigator and even she did not recognise the three pairs of blue jeans and one pair of dress pants.  I tried them all on and found one pair too big, one pair too small, one pair Okay if I squeeze a bit and one pair just right.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?"

The Captain called the Sergeant in. "Sarge, I just got a telegram that Private Jones' mother died yesterday. Better go tell him and send him in to see me." So the Sergeant calls for his morning formation and lines up all the troops. "Listen up, men," says the Sergeant. "Johnson, report to the mess hall for KP. Smith, report to Personnel to sign some papers. The rest of you men report to the Motor Pool for maintenance. Oh by the way, Jones, your mother died, report to the commander." Later that day the Captain called the Sergeant into his office. "Hey, Sarge, that was a pretty cold way to inform Jones his mother died. Couldn't you be a bit more tactful, next time?" "Yes, sir," answered the Sarge. A few months later, the Captain called the Sergeant in again with, "Sarge, I just got a telegram that Private McGrath's mother died. You'd better go tell him and send him in to see me. This time be more tactful." So the Sergeant calls for his morning formation. "Ok, men, fall in and listen up." "Everybody with a mother, take two steps forward." "Not so fast, McGrath!"

WITHOUT AN RV AND COLDER WEATHER APPROACHING WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME

Sure have had us a number of gorgeous Autumn days going on here in southwestern Ontario Canada and it looks like we have more ahead of us before a few forecasted days of rain.
THIS IS OUR PARK'S RECYCLE AREA
QUIET RELAXING COUNTRY ROADS
SUMAC TREES
A very routine Jeep ride for Pheebs and I southeast of Bayfield.  Nothing special going on or seen.  Just more of the same and at this time of year more of the same is Okay for now.
BAYFIELD'S HARBOR AND BEACH AREA

NOTICED ALL THESE FISHERMEN WERE DRESSED WARM ON THE PIER THIS MORNING
A FINE EARLY OCTOBER MORNING IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
Home again I took the wheelbarrow around collecting up more summer lawn ornaments for storage in our wooden shed for winter.  Won't be long and I will have to turn off our outside water.
Nice afternoon walk with Pheebs as we followed a warm breeze around the pine tree trail.   Pheebs chased a couple rascally Squirrels while I tried to take a few photos of an elusive little bee.  Winds later picked up and we have more golden pine needles lazily making their way to the ground.  Our seasonal change is in full swing.  Update:: At the time of posting this tonight it's raining:((((
We had been hoping to find a suitable Class B+ RV by now and do some short three or four day trips up around the Bruce Peninsula and Beaver Valley area but we're quickly running out of time.  Cold weather will soon be upon us and the colorful Autumn leaves season north of us will be over for another year. There was a time not long ago when we could have said 'oh well we'll do it next year'.  For obvious reasons we don't exactly have the luxury of thinking that way anymore.  Things have changed, are changing, and we have to make a few adjustments to our usual thought patterns as we go along.  Reality sometimes has a habit of getting in the way of things.
A FEW PICS FOR C&G WAY OUT THERE IN THAT NEW MEXICO PLACE

Been tossing around some ideas for a few minor house renovations.  Our unit still has it's original early eighties windows and some of those windows have lost their seal and especially the two living room windows right beside Kelly's chair.  With colder weather beginning to make itself felt those windows have condensation problems.  New steps for our front porch is another consideration along with some partial board and batten siding.  No hard and fast plans yet, just mulling things over.
GROANER'S CORNER:(( It was four in the morning when Mr. Dartle's phone rang. The voice at the other end was pleasant and sweet. "I'm Mrs. Weber, and I would like to tell you that the refrigerator I bought in your store works like a charm."Mr. Dartle said, "Thank you. But why call me about it at four in the morning?"Mrs. Weber said, "Because they just delivered it!"

Overheard at the race track...
Bettor: “I’m betting on a horse that is 20 to 1 and I can’t lose.
Friend: “What do you mean 'you can’t lose’?”
Bettor: “I can’t lose, the horse is starting at 20 to 1 and the race doesn’t start till 1.”

A strained voice called out through the darkened theater, "Please, is there a doctor in the house?!" Several men stood up as the lights came on. An older lady pulled her daughter to stand next to her, "Good, are any of you doctors single and interested in a date with a nice Jewish girl?"
