ANOTHER FRIDAY BITES THE DUST

Kelly Subarued herself to Goderich to run a few errands and pick up a few groceries while Pheebs and I Jeeped ourselves out to our walking spot and back this morning.  Following that, I fired up Scooter and took it for a run around a couple country blocks.  Pheebs came too.  Home again I washed the rig's cab and waxed the engine hood. (I don't know, I got this thing about waxing engine hoods I guess)  Took some Scooter pics to include with the upcoming 'For Sale' ad and that was about it.  And so, another Friday, in a long line of Fridays bites the dust.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Q: Diner: I can't eat this chicken. Call the manager.

A: Waiter: It's no use. He can't eat it either.

A: The outside.

Q: What do you get when you cross a parrot with a centipede?
A: A walkie-talkie, of course.

Q: Have you heard of that disease that you get from kissing birds?
A: Chirpes. It's one of those canarial diseases. I hear it's untweetable.

Q: Why don't they play poker in the jungle?
A: Too many cheetahs.

Q: What is the difference between a cat and a comma?
A: One has the paws before the claws and the other has the clause before the pause.

A: To the retail store.

A: A watchdog.

Two boll weevils grew up in South Carolina.  One went to Hollywood and became a famous actor.  The other stayed behind in the cotton fields and never amounted to much.  The second one, naturally, became known as the lesser of two weevils.

WIND, RAIN, SUNSHINE AND CLOUDS

It was a cold, wet, windy, and sometimes sunny start to our day.  A prelude to late October and Novemberesque days to come.  No walks this morning so Pheebs and I Jeeped ourselves into and around Bayfield looking for a few photos for tonight's post.  Spent much of the afternoon cleaning up our wooden shed.  And so went another day here on Planet Earth...........

LAKE HURON WAS ANGRY THIS MORNING
SOME PEOPLE ENJOY THE ANGRY WATER

SO I'M IN THE JEEP DRESSED IN MY PRE-WINTER GEAR AND THESE GUYS ARE OUT THERE IN THE COLD WATER AND WALKING AROUND IN BARE FEET
LOOKS LIKE A NEW STRUCTURE GOING UP ON BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET
BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET IS A BUSY PLACE
THERE ARE A LOT OF NICE HOMES AND PROPERTIES IN BAYFIELD
 TOUCHES OF AUTUMN
 BAYFIELD'S HARBOR AND MARINA AREA

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Little Johnny's mother was trying hard to get the catsup to come out of the bottle. During her struggle, the phone rang so she asked four-year-old Johnny to answer the phone.  Little Johnny ran out into the living room and answered the phone. "Mommy, It's the minister," he said to his mother.  From the kitchen Johnny's mom said, "Tell him I'll call him back."  Little Johnny spoke into the phone saying, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle."

HOLY SMOKES WHERE DID ALL MY HAIR GO

AREA FARMERS ARE BUSY WORKING ON THE BEAN HARVEST
Arriving at our walking spot this morning I was surprised to see the farmer on the east side of the road has begun harvesting his corn already.  I noticed some corn cobs on the ground the combine had missed.  Walking further I saw more cobs, some of which had been run over.  I quickly began gathering up the cobs and ended up with a couple dozen.  I also gather up spilled corn every year in the Fall to feed the Squirrels and birds through the winter.  It's important I feed those pesky Squirrels so that they can continue to annoy the bejeebers out of me all winter long by attempting to constantly climb onto the bird feeders.

I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THIS CORN FIELD BEING HARVESTED
MY STASH OF CORN COBS THIS MORNING
THIS BEAN FIELD WAS HARVESTED A COUPLE DAYS AGO
THIS FIELD WAS NOT ONLY HARVESTED BUT THE FARMER HAS ALREADY PLOWED UP THE FIELD
FROM THE COMBINE, BEANS ARE LOADED INTO WAGONS AND THEN TRANSFERRED TO TRUCKS TO BE HAULED OFF TO WHEREVER THEY GO
With skies darkening over Lake Huron we took a short swing around a few country roads before heading home.

 SKIES DARKENING TO THE WEST
THIS MAPLE TREE IS WELL INTO AUTUMN'S GROOVE
A LARGE BARN COMPLEX GOING UP
A JOHN DEERE COMBINE WITHOUT ITS HARVESTING HEAD ON THE FRONT
ANOTHER FARMER HAS STARTED HIS CORN HARVEST AS WELL
FARM EQUIPMENT WAS IDLE THIS MORNING DUE TO THE COMING STORM AND IT'S POSSIBLE HEAVY RAIN
There were severe storm warnings afoot and our live radar already showed a nasty bit of weather halfway across the lake headed our way from Michigan.  Skies became so dark that all of our outside lights came on.  Luckily, as it turned out, the brunt of the storm went south of our area leaving us with rain but no wind.

AFTER THE STORM, SKIES ARE CLEARING AS I HEAD TO GODERICH FOR A HAIRCUT EARLY THIS AFTERNOON
HOLY SMOKES WHERE DID ALL MY HAIR GO....I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A 'BEFORE' PIC BUT I COULDN'T BECAUSE MY HAIR WAS IN MY EYES AND I COULDN'T SEE WHERE I HAD LEFT MY CAMERA:))
HEADING HOME, SKIES CONTINUE TO CLEAR
NICE TO SEE SUNSHINE CASTING SHADOWS UNDER THE TREES
AND SOMEWHERE DOWN THERE ON THE LEFT IS OUR 'BAYFIELD PINES' PARK
Other than a haircut this afternoon at First Choice Haircutters in Goderich, that's about it for another day.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  One day while he was at the track playing the ponies Mitch noticed a priest who stepped onto the track and blessed the forehead of one horse lining up for the 4th race.  Lo and behold, that horse--a very long shot--won the race.  Before the next race, as the horses began lining up, Mitch watched with interest as the old priest stepped onto the track again. Sure enough, as the 5th race horses came to the starting gate, the priest made a blessing on the forehead of one horse.  Mitch made a beeline for a betting window and placed a small bet on the horse. Again, even though it was another long shot, the horse the priest had blessed won the race.  Mitch collected his winnings and anxiously waited to see which horse the priest would bless for the 6th race. The priest again blessed a horse.  Mitch bet big on it, and it won. Mitch was elated. As the races continued, the priest kept blessing long-shot horses, and each one ended up coming in first.  By and by, Mitch was pulling in some serious money. By the last race, he knew his wildest dreams were going to come true. He made a quick dash to the ATM, withdrew all his savings, and waited for the priest's blessing to tell him which horse to bet on.  True to his habit, the priest stepped onto the track for the last race and blessed the forehead of an old nag that was the longest shot of the day. Mitch also observed the priest blessing the eyes, ears, and hooves of the old nag.  Mitch knew he had a winner and bet every cent he owned on the old nag.  He then watched, dumbfounded, as the old nag come in dead last. Mitch, in a state of shock, made his way down to the track area where the priest was.  Confronting the old priest he demanded, “Father! What happened? All day long, you blessed horses and they all won. Then, in the last race, the horse you blessed lost by a Kentucky mile. Now, thanks to you, I've lost every cent of my savings--all of it!”The priest nodded wisely and, with sympathy, said, “Son, that's the problem with you Protestants. You can't tell the difference between a simple blessing and last rites.”
