IT'S BEEN A TOUGH SIX MONTHS

ONE OF OUR FRONT YARD FROGS
A bright sunny day, but on the cool side.  Took a break from my outside activities and instead, Lorraine and I headed off to Goderich for stops at Food Basics, Hart, and McDonalds' for coffee to go.  Slipped down around the harbor, A&W for a double buddy burger, and a final stop at Walmart for a few things.  Home again, we later had a nice visit with our good neighbor Monica.  Monica had been anxious to meet Lorraine.  All in all, it was a good day.  Maybe not too darn exciting, but it's slowly getting better as both my mental and physical health continue to work their way back to normalcy.  It's been a tough six months.

Al's Music Box:))  Too Many Rivers is a studio album by American singer Brenda Lee. It was released on September 2, 1965, via Decca Records and was her thirteenth studio album. The disc consisted of 12 tracks that were mostly covers of songs recorded by other artists. Of its new tracks were two singles of Lee's: "Think" and "Too Many Rivers". Both tracks made record charts in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. The title track was the highest-charting single, reaching the US top 20 in 1965. The album was met with positive reviews from critics.  Considered a "child prodigy", Brenda Lee was 11 years old when she signed a recording contract with Decca Records in 1956. She began recording Rockabilly material and eventually graduated to pop material. Between 1959 and 1963, Lee had a series of US top ten singles, some of which topped the record charts. As the sixties decade progressed, Lee continued having chart records, but many fell into the US top 20 and were more commercially successful in other countries.  In 1965, Lee's single "Too Many Rivers" became a hit and would be the name of her next studio album.  Too Many Rivers was taken from sessions recorded between January 1964 and July 1965. The sessions were all held at the Columbia Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The recording sessions were all produced by Owen Bradley. Too Many Rivers was released by Decca Records on September 2, 1965. It marked the thirteenth studio album released in Lee's career.

Groaner's Corner:(( The new Ensign was assigned to subs, where he'd dreamed of working since a young boy.  He was trying to impress the Master Chief with his expertise learned in Submarine School.  The Master Chief cut him off quickly and said, "Listen, it's real simple. Add the number of times we dive to the number of times we surface. Divide that number by two. If the result doesn't come out even, don't open the hatch."

Because they use fowl language.

A College student fell into a cycle of classes, studying, working and sleeping.  He didn't realize how long he had neglected writing home until he received the following note:  "Dear Son, Your mother and I enjoyed your last letter. Of course, we were much younger then, and more impressionable. Love, Dad."

WILD-EYED BUSHY-TAILED TEENAGER

 WEDNESDAY NIGHT'S SUNSET IN BAYFIELD
A poor night's sleep led to a low motivation day.  However, despite that, and with Lorraine's help under cool sunny skies, we were able to get all the windows cleaned on the north side of the house today.  Only windows left to do now are the sunroom.  Also decided it was well past time to get rid of a lot of the old, worn-out lawn furniture and garden ornaments that have been here for years.  Some stuff will go into the firepit, some into the garbage, and some to St. Vincent de Paul in Goderich.  Sorry, I don't have much more to say folks.  Hopefully, tomorrow I will feel like a wild-eyed bushy-tailed teenager again:))

Al's Music Box:)) Ebony Eyes is a song written by John D. Loudermilk, recorded in 1961 by The Everly Brothers, and released as a single together with "Walk Right Back", which reached No. 8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The lyrics tell a young man's tragic story of losing his beloved fiancée in an airplane crash in dark, stormy weather conditions, which remind him of his fiancée's "ebony eyes".  The single, a double A-side in the UK, reached No.1 in the UK Singles Chart on 2 March 1961 for 3 weeks and was the ninth best-selling single of the calendar year 1961 in the U.K.  "Ebony Eyes" was initially banned by the BBC from airplay in the U.K. as its lyrics were considered too upsetting to play on the radio.

Groaner's Corner:(( An elderly pastor was searching his closet for his collar before church one Sunday morning. In the back of the closet, he found a small box containing three eggs and 100 $1 bills.  He called his wife into the closet to ask her about the box and its contents. Embarrassed, she admitted having hidden the box there for their entire 30 years of marriage. Disappointed and hurt, the pastor asked her, "Why?" The wife replied that she hadn't wanted to hurt his feelings. He asked her how the box could have hurt his feelings. She said that every time during their marriage that he had delivered a poor sermon, she had placed an egg in the box.  The pastor felt that three poor sermons in 30 years was certainly nothing to feel bad about, so he asked her what the $100 was for.  She replied, "Each time I got a dozen eggs, I sold them to the neighbors for $1."
