A LAST VISIT TO THE PAWS AND HOOVES RANCH

DSC_0099
IT IS A NICE SPOT WE ALWAYS HAVE HERE AT JEANIE AND RAY’S RANCH
A better night’s sleep chased my Monday’s Zombie like state into history and I started Tuesday off feeling energized again.

The first year at the Ranch we met some of Jeanie and Ray’s good friends.  Two of those folks were the Mother and daughter team of Rosanna and Carol from the PAWS AND HOOVES RANCH just up the Valley about half an hour.  Last time we saw them was a year ago when we did a couple Jeep tours  together along with Jeanie and Ray.  You can see those 2 Jeep tours at FROM THE COCHISE STRONGHOLD TO THE DRAGOON SPRINGS...JEEPING ALL THE WAY:)) and JEEP RUN TO THE GATES OF MULESHOE RANCH.  Today we headed for the Paws and Hooves Ranch near Sunizona, Arizona.  It will likely be our last time visiting Rosanna & Carol at their Ranch, and there is a reason for that.

ROSANNA AND HER MOTHER CAROL
Rosanna bought a cute little house and property in Placerville California a short while ago and they have just listed their 10 acre Paws & Hooves Ranch for sale here in the Sulphur Springs Valley.  The Gals are hoping to make their move to Placerville in February.  Rosanna and her Mother Carol are just about two of the friendliest people you could ever meet.  Had ourselves a great 3 hour visit catching up on a lot of things and talking about future plans.  Don’t know if we’ll ever make it to Placerville east of Sacramento but if we do we’ll be sure to look up our good friends again from the old Paws and Hooves Ranch.

Today marks a beginning series of busy days for us over the next little while.  We still have some people to see and some Shreddies to deliver.  We have been busy trying to figure out when we can fit everything in.  It is our own fault that we have been lax in our social visiting again.

Wednesday morning we head for the University of Arizona hospital.  Thursday we will head for the Tucson International Airport to pick up my Aunt Jean who is flying in from Florida to spend a week with us here at the Ranch.  Aunt Jean will be here for a week so we will be out and about showing Jean many of the area’s sites.  That will be great because we will get to see some of our old favorite spots again.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  As the airliner was preparing to land in Madrid in a rainstorm, an English passenger seemed noticeably afraid.
"What's the problem, fellow?" asked his seat mate.
"Surely," said the Englishman, "you've heard the saying, 'The planes in Spain fall mainly in the rains!!'"

ANOTHER PERFECT ARIZONA WEATHER DAY:))

DSC_0032

THESE TWO BEST PALS ARE SURE GOING TO MISS EACH OTHER WHEN WE LEAVE IN A FEW WEEKS

I am generally up around 4 a.m. every morning and it is an enjoyably quiet time of day for me.  With the computer on my lap I particularly like looking around and seeing all the doggy guys sound asleep in their own little spots.  Pheebs on my bed beside me.  Motor on Kelly’s chair with her toys, Pearce on a doggy bed in the far corner of our slide and Gleeson stretched out on the living room floor near the steps.  They are a happy contented bunch of snoozy heads and it warms my heart to see that.

Guess I got this Reno/Renal procedure thing mixed up again in Sunday’s post.  It’s the Renal Ultra-Sound procedure I am hoping to have done Wednesday.  The Reno gram one is the procedure that injects a radioactive tracer into the renal system.  Not recommended for big cry babies like me.

Had an email question wondering if I ask people’s permission before taking their photos.  My answer to that is ‘no’ because doing so automatically makes it a ‘posed’ photo and I have no interest in that type of photography.  I enjoy candidly catching people just being their natural selves.  In April last year I was asked by another reader about my thoughts on taking candid photos of people.  You can read my opinion about that in a post entitled MY TAKE ON CANDID PHOTOGRAPHY My thoughts begin with the 4th paragraph down.

Not too often I get through a day without taking a photo of something but today was one of those days.  Woke up at 3 a.m. & spent the rest of the the day trying to remain in the world of consciousness.  Just kinda hid under my cowboy hat all day.  Today’s pics were taken Sunday morning.

Forgot to mention in last night’s post that we plan to be back at the Ranch near the end of February for a few weeks.  Those plans are still a bit up in the air but we are working on them.

Our Florida thoughts have kinda drifted out to sea and we have swung our thoughts and attention back into the Southwest.  Oh tis a confusing life the Bayfield Bunch lives at times but with the flashes of excitement we occasionally get ourselves into it keeps the boredom blues away.  We always seem to have an iron or two in the fire for the future.  And, that keeps us on our toes and thinking.  Maybe next week it will occur to us to buy a Hippopotamus farm:))

The Last Paragraph:  Have you ever noticed I talk too much.  I notice it all the time.  Well, on the computer I do anyway.  Whenever I sit down with my laptop I just seem compelled to blabber myself out onto the keyboard regardless of what pops into my mind.  Well, to be honest….not everything.  Gotta show some discretion….right:))

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
The good fortune to run into the ones that I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

TODAY WE BUZZED OURSELVES OFF TO BISBEE

NIKON TELE
CAME ACROSS THIS MOON COLLAGE I PUT TOGETHER A YEAR AGO FROM PHOTOS I TOOK JUST A FEW MILES FROM THE RANCH…I ADDED THE COLORS USING PICASA
Don’t want to start the new year off with another repetitious wonderful weather report….so I won’t:))

PHEEBS, OUR FEARLESS WATCHDOG CAREFULLY GUARDS MY CAMERA EQUIPMENT
Took us a fancy to buzz off to Bisbee this morning.  We had heard of a great Pizza place so deliberately skipped breakfast, popped into Bisbee’s BELLA ROMA pizza and had ourselves a totally yummy medium size Pepperoni Pizza.  And, we ate the whole darn thing too:))

Kelly had some browsing to do so while she headed up the street I headed for THE BISBEE COFFEE COMPANY.  Don’t normally have a second coffee during the day anymore but figured I would make an exception today.  Nice and warm outside so I had my coffee and Blueberry muffin sitting in their cozy outside coffee court.  Not busy so it was a great opportunity to catch myself some more candid Bisbee ‘character’ photos.  Bisbee and Tombstone are great places for………‘characters’.

It was our second time away leaving Pheebs and the gang free to come & go in the Motorhome.  Upon our return Pheebs saw us coming down the road so ran to meet us at the closed gate.   Pearce and Gleeson used to do that but now like hanging out in our rig like a couple of big old coach potatoes.  Also had a little House Finch inside the rig when I came in the door.  Gently caught the little fellow, wished him well and carefully carried him outside where he flew merrily away.

NO, THAT IS NOT A BISBEE CHARACTER  >>>
Our Manulife insurance company phoned Saturday saying things have been cleared up and my upcoming Renal exam plus all expenses so far will now be paid for.  However, they said anything after this exam such as procedures would have to be strongly reviewed.  In other words, they will probably not pay for any surgical stuff but would fly me home to have medical procedures done in Canada where expenses are covered by our Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan .  So, that puts the ball back in our court and we will likely continue our travels as planned and return to Ontario sometime around the end of March as usual.  Of course, all this depends whether that large ‘whopper’ of a kidney stone decides to move again and also the results of Wednesdays Renal exam.  One thing is for sure….I will not be flying back to Ontario, regardless!!!!!!  Once home in the Spring we’ll deal with the medical issues, whatever they may turn out to be.
So, bottom line……We are back on track for leaving the Ranch on January 15th and heading further west for destinations yet unknown.

Hopefully the ‘ShoutBox’ in our right hand column will not go missing for a few days.  We knew Shoutmix was making changes and the free Shoutbox was being discontinued.  We, and many readers like the ShoutBox feature so will retain it for $20 a year now.  Just hope it transitions from free to fee ok.

THESE HOLIDAY REVELERS WELCOME IN THE NEW YEAR ON BISBEE’S MAIN STREET TODAY
Managed to get a few ‘Cowboy Hat’ shots this morning while feeding and kibitzing with the Donkeys.  One of these days we will have to try getting ourselves a nice posed family portrait.  No easy feat when trying to do everything myself.

The Last Paragraph: With each passing year I am always glad to see the old year slip into history. Kind of like hitting the ‘refresh’ button on an internet site. Some things reassuringly remain the same and stay on the page while other familiarities vanish, bringing forth the challenge of nervous change. It is those changes that can add excitement to new horizons…….if one lets them:))

GROANER’S CORNER:((  An optimist stays up to see the New Year in. A pessimist waits to make sure the old one leaves.
